Silas found himself running in the middle of a dense jungle as he was chased by all sorts of weird beasts. He didn’t know how he got here or why he was being chased by these beasts, but one thing he was certain about was that if he stopped, he was going to die. The most bizarre thing of all was that he was running on all fours.
Silas figured that he was not a human anymore. Had he somehow been reincarnated as a beast after being killed by that drop of dark blob?
Silas really wanted to go and smash his head against a stone wall. He finally realized that the dark blob was never an opportunity… it was a one-way ticket to hell… a trap set by someone else. He would have been really happy if he had been reincarnated as some sort of prince with a protagonist template, but instead, he was reincarnated as a four-legged creature that was running for its life.
As Silas’ mind was racing with thoughts on how to escape this calamity, he found himself out of breath, having run for quite some time, and he was feeling quite hungry as well. Silas looked back and heaved a sigh of relief as he had successfully managed to escape from the monsters.
Being small had its advantages in a terrain like this, where the trees stood like mountains and huge beasts couldn’t maneuver as easily as he could. Silas looked around to find something to eat. Even though there were many things he needed answers for, he decided to think about them after filling his stomach.
After looking around, Silas found a plant with blue-colored berries on it. The berries looked like ice jades. They had a wonderful fragrance that tempted Silas. Even though he didn’t know if they were poisonous, he decided to steel his stomach and give them a try, as the smell was too alluring to pass up.
Silas reached out with one of his claws and plucked the berries. He found that even though the berry was soft to the touch, it was cold as ice. ‘Maybe it’s some sort of magical plant with special effects,’ Silas thought as his eagerness to try the fruit increased. He threw the berry into his mouth and took a bite. A cold and sweet taste entered his mouth, and his whole body felt refreshed.

“Frostbite Berry consumed. Evolution points = 0.01.”
Hearing the notification that rang inside his head, Silas was shocked and spat out the berry. Evolution points?
Why does that sound familiar to the Gate’s evolution system? ‘Did I get reincarnated into a Gate?’ Silas wondered aloud. Since Silas knew that he could increase his strength by simply eating the berries, he was overjoyed, as there were a couple hundred berries on that plant as well. Silas jumped into the berry bush in a frenzy. If he were a little larger, he could have swallowed the plant whole… Alas, his small stature made it impossible, so he had to swallow the berries one by one.

“Frostbite Berry consumed. Evolution points = 0.01.”
“Frostbite Berry consumed. Evolution points = 0.”
“Frostbite Berry consumed. Evolution points = 0.”
Silas paused as he soon realized that he wasn’t getting further evolution points. Is there a limit to how much I can gain from eating the Frostbite Berry? Silas thought.
He did not know how many points he had received from eating the berries, as he forgot to keep count.
“How great it would be if I had something like a status window,” Silas mumbled.
As soon as he said those words, a blue transparent window appeared before his eyes, rendering him speechless.

Too many Frostbite Berries might give you frostbite. Advised to consume only in a limited quantity.
“So only 10 Frostbite Berries per day,” Silas mumbled. To be honest, he wasn’t too worried, as he could come back tomorrow to eat more.
Silas, who was supposed to find a way out of his current predicament, completely forgot about it and began to roam around the forest to find different berries.
