"We are in deep fucking shit!" Ragnar yells. I am inclined to agree with him. There have to be about 20 goblins in this village and a bugbear.
"Bradi, Ragnar let loose. As long as I draw breath so do the two of you!" I yell. Ragnar activates taunt as the classic opening tank move. The goblins start to swarm him, and the bugbear begins to move towards him too. I start spamming Heal. As soon as the 3 second cooldown is done, I activate it again. Bradi is going berserk on the goblins. She charges in slices one in half. Ragnar is bashing them with his shield and stabbing with his short sword. I look and see that the HP of the goblins is diminishing fast. Though the Bugbear has not been touched yet. I noticed he made it up to Ragnar. The Bugbear swung his axe down and cut off Ragnar's arm holding his sword. Shit,Shit,Shit,Shit this is not good if he goes down, we are for sure fucked.
"Level up new skills unlocked. New skills align with casters death affinity. Skills Life drain, Soul snatcher, Life replenishment." What I assume to be the system pings. Not much time let's see what they intel. Life drain has a 10-second cooldown that decreases with the level of the skill. It drains the HP of the target and heals the target of my choice. Soul Snatcher is an insta-death too any target 1 level above or any level below spell that has a 1-minute cooldown that also decreases with the skills level. Life replenishment is the other part of Life drain. Let's try these new spells out.
I cast Life drain on the Bugbear and use his life to replenish Ragnar. I use Soul Snatcher on a goblin and true to the description he just dropped dead like a bag of potatoes. Bradi was slashing goblins left and right around Ragnar helping him, and I started to spam heal again feeling the magic flow through my body like a warm current and out through my hands. Soon all that we had left to defeat was the Bugbear.
He stepped forward and brought his axe to bear on Ragnar's shield, but the dwarf held firm. Bradi ran in and sliced the tendon on the Bugbear's heel. I saw its calf roll up like a yoyo. The monster let out a horrid screech. It then turned its focus towards me. This is definitely fucked. I start to back away and run. The Bugbear leveling his axe and throwing it at me before swatting Bradi in the chest launching her onto her back. I managed to avoid a fatal blow, but I am now holding my arm that was cut off. It hurts more than anything that I have ever felt. I cast heal on myself. I look at the other's HP. Both are getting dangerously low.
I run back to the others just in time to see the Bugbear about to finish off Ragnar. Bradi is on the ground knocked out. I make the decision and through my arm at the Bugbear to get its attention. He fell for the bait and put Ragnar down. Well, put him down if you count dropping him like last week's bad news. I cast heal one more time on Ragnar before I started to run like Gump. The bugbear surprisingly fast just on its hands and one working leg. I have to buy time for Bradi to come too. My only other hope is that Ragnar will soon be at the minimum fighting condition. As I am running, I hear a certain dwarf whistle. This is the sign that I was hoping for. I turn tail towards Ragnar, the Bugbear hot on my ass. I run past Ragnar. He timed it perfectly and right as the Bugbear was about to grab me Ragnar hit him in the head with the sharp bottom part of the shield. Though the Bugbear was a tough son of a bitch. it was still trying to fight with half of its head caved in. Though it was ineffective as the thing had lost its equilibrium. I cast life drain on it to heal Ragnar once more and the monster withered away. It was strange to watch as it mummified.
I walk over towards Bradi, and cast heal to top her HP off then do the same to Ragnar. I finish myself last just because I rely on the others for protection. It wouldn't do if there was another attack, and they were low on HP while I wasn't. I sat on the ground exhausted. Bradi is coming too with a nasty headache. Ragnar's arm is growing back, which is somewhat interesting to watch. My arm is also growing back. On earth, an injury like this meant that you had one less arm. Here magic allows you to sustain life-ending injuries or dismemberment and bounce back.

"What the fuck was that?" Bradi asked.
"That be a Bugbear according to the adventurer's guild guide." Ragnar responded.
"I don't want us to fight that thing again." I replied and the others agreed.
"Did either one of you gain a level?" I asked.
"I gain a level and now have Flurry strike." Bradi said.
"I gained a level and now have shield fortress, and more HP." Ragnar replied. "What skills were the ones that you used earlier? I have never seen a healer do that." Ragnar asks.
"Life Drain, and Soul Snatcher. According to the system they are from my death affinity side." I replied. The other two looked shocked.
"Why would a healer need to kill someone?" Bradi asks.
"I remember hearing a sentence before. If I remember right, it is that sometimes it is easier to kill someone to heal many others. If that one person is dead, they can't hurt the others for them to need to be healed." I told them. Ragnar seemed to really think on that statement. He then got up and dusted off his backside.
"Let's go find the floor boss. What do the two of ye say?" Ragnar asks. I get up and put my hand out for Bradi. She looks puzzled for a moment and then accepts my hand. I help her up and we set out. I'm just hoping that the floor boss is nowhere near as hard to fight as the Bugbear was.
While walking I just wanted to play in the menu for a second when I noticed the quest. We had defeated the floor boss. I let the other two know. Now all we had to do was find the way back out of here. Sadly, there is no magic exit dungeon button. That is what makes them all the more dangerous. If you get in over your head, you have no easy escape. It also makes it hard to recover lost bodies.
After around an hour of walking we found the exit. You would think that it would be along the wall. You would be wrong. The exit was back in a hut at the goblin village. "Hey, it seems to me that the exit is always around where the floor boss is." I tell the others. We exit the dungeon back out into the village. We then walk back to the Ogrid to get our reward for the quest.
"Here you go. twenty silver a piece. Also, a word of advice what you three did was reckless. Get another member before going to the next floor of the dungeon. Your ranks are also now E ranks." Ogrid told us.
"I'll see the two of yas in the morning. I want to go get my equipment repaired." Ragnar told us while walking off waving over his shoulder.
"Bradi, I have a question." I told her nervously. She raised an eyebrow but gave me the go-ahead nod. " Could I take you on a dinner date?" I ask. She looks shocked that I would even ask that. It is too late for me to take it back however.
"Why would you want to be seen on a date with an orc? You are a human after all." Bradi asks while looking more confused.
"You're a strong fighter and you're very attractive. What more could any man want?" I ask jokingly. She gives me a smirk, probably having a massive boost in self-confidence.
"Yes you can Tyber, but you're not getting a slice of pie on the first date. I'm going to go get my equipment repaired. I'll be back here before dusk for our date." She said then walked off. I watched her walk off. Yes, I watched for the exact reason you're thinking about. No matter which world I am in somethings will never change.
I use the time before the date to explore the town some. I spotted a fountain and sat by the water. I looked in and saw my reflection on the surface. It was the first time seeing what I looked like. I had black hair and it was short, sea blue eyes, a young face with freckles around my nose. All in all I wouldn't say that I looked too bad this time around. Maybe this world isn't all that bad after all.
