"Umm... Casuwador?" I said, attempting to make my sentence as short as possible.
"I'm fine with anything." Brother said with a faint smile.
He did not have anymore wide smiles anymore, all he had was faint ones since the last month.
"I've heard that the education there is very harsh, you'll have to deal with it as it comes, don't complain. " daddy said.
I nodded and so did brother.
"Then we'll leave tomorrow, I already started preparing our
items, it'll take only a few days to reach Casuwador if we hitch a ride."
As there was no point in staying anymore, I left the room.
<><><><><><><><>
There isn't much to say, daddy merely carried Mitra while me and brother helped take some of the baggage, in the past, I think I would have been excited for the trip but there wasn't much excitement in me when we left the forest.
While we were walking in it though, many monsters jumped out! It was rather exciting when they did, and daddy would just kill them with the sword he hung at his side.
But when he cleaned the dead monster up and took it's meat for the first time in front of us, brother puked, his face turned green!
The monster was a wolf, daddy curtly explained as he pointed to his fluffy tail and long nose, and said that those features makes it a wolf.
Daddy carved off it's fluff and gave it to me so that I could put it into the bag for future use, its meat was placed in containers and into his own bag.
As daddy was about to bury the useless parts of the wolf, brother stopped him and took a few bones from it, saying that he had something he wanted to try.
Daddy didn't really care though.
After that was a lot more monsters, far more than what we need so daddy didn't kill then but just made sure they were sleeping.
As we walked further from our house, the lesser the monsters that appeared, even if monsters appeared, they were rather weak ones, sometimes, daddy would ask me or brother to attack them with our wooden swords.
Just like that, we left the forest and walked on a dirt path, occasionally as we walked, carriages with horses, as brother had called them, would appear and daddy would attempt to stop them, though it mostly ended in failure.
But the last one we stopped was driven by an bearded old man with his donkey.
"So, whatcha doin out ere?"
"We were wondering if we could perhaps hitch a ride to Casuwador." daddy said, taking out several furs in attempt to buy his service.
"Ooo, that seems nice." the old man leaned over from his seat and took the furs, touching them.
After a while of inspection, the old man nodded and got off his seat, walking to the carriage he said "It ain't gonna be a good ride laddie, it's filled with straw and feed, gonna be hard to find space. "
"It's good enough. "
"Sure, if yer say so. " the old man pulled open a door and invited us in.
"Oof." I jumped into the straw pile, it was softer than the beds I had at least.
"Glad to see one of yer kiddos having fun, so whats with the intrestin looking boys yer got there. "
"Their mother was from the beast race."
"Ah, I see, gotta be careful there, people might just assume that they are from the demons, hahahaha. " as if finding what he said was funny, he laughed loudly.
With a stiff smile, daddy nodded.
For the next 3 days, we rided with the old man, whose destination seemed to be a village close to Casuwador, he had said that he doesn't want to go to Casuwador due to the poor environment there.
Also, with the bones, brother carved out a flower shaped pendent for Mitra with a knife.
So, after getting dropped off, we walked a while and reached what seemed to be Casuwador, just in case, daddy asked a tall guy with dead fish eyes.
As they were conversing, I noticed a small girl next to the tall guy, the girl had ears similar to a cat and a fluffy tail. The whole time she was sniffing and looking at me and brother curiously.
She's cute.
After confirming our location, daddy walked to a big wall that cut off the farming area, guarding the big doors was two guards.
"Halt! Do you have a merchant permit or a residence certificate?" one of them asked.
"No, we are hoping to apply here as a permanent resident." daddy answered.
".....those two children, are they afflicted with the demon race? " the guard asked, suspicion laced in his tone.
"No, they have blood of a beast race."
After giving a nod to his friend, the guard said "One silver coin each!"
Throwing five coins to the guard and after a while of inspection, they nodded and pushed open the door while the other guard retrieved something from a storage cabinet that was between the two walls and passed it to us.

"Drop your blood on it. "
Following the instructions, the residence certificate card lit up and my name appeared on it.
'Nathaniel Alden'
Similarly, on daddy's card was his name 'Clinton Alden' while on brother's was 'Theodore Alden' and Mitra's 'Mitra Alden'
Also, it said copper rank, I'm not sure what it means though.
As we walked through the gates, a guard called out "Hey! Remember to go register your children at Agrona academy before noon! It's customary for all citizens to do so! You're lucky that you came right before the registration period"
I wanted to ask daddy what's Agrona but I suppose I'll find out sooner or later, right?
It's was already close to noon already, maybe a while more and the sun will shine in the middle of the sky.
My question was quickly answered as daddy directly brought us to the aforementioned Agrona academy, though on the way there me and brother were looked upon with various emotions, suspicion, curiosity, malice or even interest.
At the academy was rows and rows of children with their parents, busting activity filled the field as fights were carried out to see if each child had the potential to enter the school.
Overseeing the whole thing was teachers and older children who seemed to be the current seniors of the school, though they stood in 4 different groups and wore 4 different colored uniforms.
One was modeled after a Dragon, fiery red scale patterns covered the uniform and a Dragon badge was pinned onto the chest area.
Next was a Griffin like uniform, patterns of black feathers spiralled down the black uniform, similarly a Griffin badge was pinned at the chest.
Then was a uniform covered yellow feathers of a Phoenix, a badge of it's magnificent form pinned to the chest.
Lastly was a uniform covered the pale blue skin of a Kraken and a badge similar to the creature itself.
These uniforms held little purpose other than distinguishing a member from another and also slight defence.
Children that performed wonderfully against their opponents would be scouted by these 4 groups, the most talented joined the Dragon group while the rest picked up by the other groups.
One could easily realise the hierarchy among these groups, obviously the Dragon ranked first, followed by the Kraken, the Griffin and lastly the Phoenix.
The leaders of these groups wore a more magnificent uniform made with more material than the rest, easily spotted among the crowd as they called for the new children.
These children ranged from the ages of six to eighteen, those with the age of six were the children fighting for a position in this school and a position in the groups.
Although to those of another country, a sight whereas children fought desperately against another of his age was a barbaric and impossible sight, they would feel disbelief due to the tender ages of these young participants, however, what they did not know was that in this country, it was simply survival of the fittest.
Stuck in a barbarian society, parents trained their children since young for survival and wealth, through strength, nobility and many other privileges can be obtained, such was the living of this country.
Death was common, thievery was also common, to survive, all you had to be was strong, if you are strong, no one would think of attacking you or your family without madness or strength to back up their actions.
I looked at the long lines and quickly joined what seemed to be the shortest one with daddy and brother, my eyes glued to the field in front of us.
Currently a girl was using throwing knives provided by the academy to attack another boy who used a sword.
The boy was injured badly, a knife lodged into his arm while to girl had multiple slashes.
I suppose I'll have to endure something like that too? I don't like pain.....
I looked at brother whose expression was extremely ugly, his gaze alternated between father as he thought.
"Dad, why did you bring us here?" he muttered, looking at the bloody boy that fought for his life.
"This is the only way to become truly strong, living in the lap of luxury will eventually bring you a pitiable death. " daddy said.
"Ahhhhh!!!" the boy shouted as he pounced forwards, no longer caring about the danger and stabbed the girl.
His face was twisted with malice and madness, a scary face that had me taking a step back.
My heart thumped considerably fast, seemingly afraid at that expression.
A older teen wearing a black uniform raised his hand and called out "We'll take you. "
Without any objections from the other stronger groups, a badge of a winged monster and thrown in front of the boy, who happily wept as he took the precious badge.
Looking at the side, I noticed a serious look on brother's face as he took in the sight, his fists clenched at his side.
