"What are you going to choose?" Brother leaned over to my application form whereas I wrote down the classes that I wanted to attend.
"Eh? Isn't that a weird combination?" He commented.
"It's not, I can throw spears and shoot arrows into people and if I run out I'll fight them with my fists!"
"Then what's the beast taming for? I thought you would rather learn magic?"
"I dunno, but since I have weasel , I might as well go for beast taming."
"That makes sense, no point learning magic."
"What did you choose?"
"Erm," he picked up his paper from the desk in the room and showed it to me "I only picked the sword class and the archery class."
"Huh why?" I asked.
"I thought it would be better to focus on a small amount of things and master it quickly and efficiently, plus we can change our choices again next year."
"Oh." I said, looking down onto my paper, my earlier confidence slightly wavering.
"Let's go submit these, it's only a short walk to the main building." He said, already at the door.
Without thinking I followed him, the weasel who noticed that we were leaving and quickly jumped onto my leg and made his way to my arm, slightly nipping it for some blood.
"Doesn't it bother you?" He muttered unhappily, probably thinking back to the time the weasel bit him, which resulted in him screeching due to the shock.
"No, it doesn't bite that hard." I pull on the long body of the weasel, showing him the sight of the injuries healing almost instantly.
Squeezing the weasel with my free hand, I placed it into the pocket that was on my pants, not really bothering to maker sure it's comfortable.
"Let's go." I said, twisting the door knob.
The walk was indeed short, perhaps only 15 minutes passed, whilst we walked there, I noticed the large amounts of people training in various open spaces littered with countless equipment, although occasionally sideway glances were given, not much attention was spared.
Entering the building made of both stone and wood, me and brother both joined the lines for submission of our application forms, but to our surprise, one of the students with yellow clothing suddenly bowed in respect and gestured for us to go in front of her.
"Uhh," brother mumbled in surprise, "it's fine, we'll just line up normally." He continued with a embarrassed smile.
Looking at the line, I noticed that there was barely any students wearing a black uniform like ours. Including us, there was only 5 individuals in the dragon house among the dozens of students.
Sighing at the long amount of people lining up, I pulled out the weasel and fiddled with it while brother zoned out.
"Woahh! So cute!" A voice came from behind us, a dragon house female.
Reaching her hand towards the weasel, she moved closer while her eyes sparkled with curiosity.
"Hey!" I muttered, taking a step back from her.
"Oh you, the magician." Brother who just came back to reality said, intrigued.
"Lemme see it!" She jumped up and down, her eyes locked on the weasel who I was currently stuffing into my pocket.
"No."
"Please?" She muttered, her facial expression giving off a upset vibe.
1- Attack her!
2- Relent!
"Go away." I replied, my fist swung out in attempt to hit her.
Instantly, a barrier of cobble covered the distance between us, it's sudden appearance giving me not even a second to react.
"GAH?" A stupid noise emerged from my mouth as I watched my hand punch the wall in slow motion.
"Ha. Ha. Serves you right." She said, waving her finger in my face as the barrier was instantly swallowed by the ground.
After a few moments of awkward silence, my brother cleared his throat "Sorry for the commotion."
"You're not his babysitter! Let him apologize himself!" She shouted, pointing her finger at me.
"Fuck you." I muttered, perhaps too softly for others to hear, but still audible to the girl.
Without a second passing, a thud was heard as brother's palm collided with the back of my head "No cussing!"
"Hmph! I don't like you! I don't wanna see it anymore! I'll get my own pets!" She declared, making a show of redoing her application form as she drew a big X on the column next to the subclass, Beast taming.
"Fine with me." I retorted as I rubbed the back of my head.
After a few more tranquil minutes, I passed my form to the instructor in charge who in return gave me a badge and approved my choices.
Apparently, there are capacity limits to classes but since I joined the dragon house I was able to enter whichever classes I wanted.
--------------------
"Wake up!" Brother pushed me with his arm while his other hung on to the double bed's ladder.
As I yawned, I jumped onto the ground and got ready for my first class. Today, beast taming was the very first period which I would attend.
Quickly using the Toilet and changing my clothes, I separated from brother and headed to the large fenced area with only a few building occupying the large space.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
Noticing the small crowd that had already gathered on the fields, I speedily made my way to it and inconspicuously joined them.
"So as I have explained earlier, today we will be doing a small orientation to the beast taming class." A female said, on her anticlimactically short stature was a small cat.
"The goal all of you should have is to tame a single beast, those with no beasts at all will be expelled of my class. You can either use a familiar ceremony I have explained, mind control magic I have taught or the simplest but least effective bonding."
Rubbing my nose, I sighed mentally. I was doomed.
"Remember, the first type of beast you tame does not affect anything, rather, it's alright to pick any simple beast you like since they are all very common and is unlikely to possess any unquestionably strong abilities or strength."
"Okay, so on the rightest side of the field we have a cage for lizards, all kinds of lizards, oh and there's salamanders too. For the fenced area to the left is for all kinds of fluffy animals used for farm work or stuff like that." Waving her hand, she dismissed us.
Everyone ran around excited, looking for their first beast.
I walked to the left, looking for another furred animal.
While everyone gathered at the fenced areas, I walked into the large building filled with old and sick beasts none too attracting to the children.
Weak whimpers came from a pen, curiously sniffing the bloody smell, I peeked my head through the wall and noticed a griffin senior perhaps about the age of 12 or so worriedly holding on to the paw of a black wolf while another woman looked at it's rear.
"What's going on?" I asked curiously, looking at the wolf which was the origin of the whimpers I heard.
"Why are you here?" The senior asked, but then realization dawned on him and he muttered "Oh, the juniors are on their orientation day today..."
"What's going on?" I interrupt the guy's thinking again, repeating my question again.
"She's giving birth, becoming a mother." He said happily.
Squatting down, I looking apprehensively at the new situation I had never encountered before.
There were already 4 little wolfs on a blanket, their little paws twitching.
"Cute!" Cried a voice from behind me.
Turning around, I saw a familiar face, the annoying magician.
"Can I have one?" She asked, her eyes sparkling.
Holding up seven fingers, he said "Seventy copper coins, I don't mind selling them."
"Ummm......" She looked down, fiddling with her fingers, "I don't know if mama will allow me to buy one....can I ask her and pay you next time?" She said hopefully.
"No."
"P-please?" She said again, looking at him with sparkling eyes.
"No can do." He sighed. As he spoke, one of the smallest wolf pup started to wobble on its feet, slowly making it's way towards the noisy being that captured it's attention.
Nipping slightly at the hem of her uniform, I whimpered softly, demanding for sustenance to fill its tiny body.
"Woah, come here." The owner said, reaching out and attempting to grab the little wolf, but was instead stopped by the girl.
"I-I'll give you one silver for it! I'll give it to you tomorrow!" She shouted out loud, shielding the wolf with her hands, refusing to hand him over.
"....Alright....." The owner relented, and continued "I can't give it to you today though, it still needs to stay with it's mother for a while until it's milk teeth starts to grow."
"Hehe, thank you." She happily said, bowing in respect and running out to quickly tame a beast.
After watching her skipping figure leave the building, I turned back to the owner and dashed towards him, throwing out a punch.
"Hey?!" He shouted in surprise, his hands raised to block his face.
As my fist hit his palm, a soft crack was heard.
"Arg!!" He groaned, clutching his hand.
"What are you doing?!" The lady at the side exclaimed, jumping on her feet in surprise, while the wolf that was still giving birth growled for a bit but stopped in pain.
"I want a puppy too." I said, unhappily.
Calmly walking to the owner, I straddled his torso and started hitting him.
"Gimme one!"
"What the hell is wrong with you!?" He shouted, using his uninjured hand to hit me away.
Looking at this scene, the woman at the side ran out of the building as fast as she could, escaping the beating I would have perhaps given her after I finished with the owner.
Although seeing her escape from my peripheral vision, I payed no attention as I continued with my ruthless attacks.
As his face became a bloody mess, he finally gave up "Tak iet! Tak iet!" He screamed, his bruised cheeks hindering him from speaking properly.
Pleased with his reply, I stood up and looked at the unconscious mother wolf that laid on the blanket, perhaps it had blacked out due to the pain, at it's rear was a small snout poking out, but I merely gave one glance before walking to the blind pups, taking the largest wolf pup.
But as I left, I couldn't help but turn back once, should I give one to that annoying girl?
