Chapter 10: Day at the Clinic

Chapter 10: Day at the Clinic

As William entered the city he was greeted by the bustling streets of Beowulf city and all it has to offer.

Looking around him William saw many people from many different backgrounds living here in Beowulf.

The city was busy and full of people, but it wasn't overcrowded.

William and the others followed Wilhelm as he walked through the busy streets.

“I wouldn’t say that this place is overcrowded, but there are a lot of people here.” Yuri said as they walked through the streets.

“I could probably explain why there are so many people here. We're actually near the Great Marketplace, everyday hundreds of people come to the marketplace to work and buy supplies.” Wilhelm said. “Follow me,”

“Looks like my gut was right after all.” An unknown voice said as he laughed.

Wilhelm sighed as he looked at the person. “... Hello Lionheart.”

William looked at Wilhelm. “You know him?”

“Unfortunately, yes.” Wilhelm said, unwillingly. “He’s my upperclassmen when I was still a student.”

Lionheart looked at Wilhelm’s students and looked back at him before sighing to himself.

‘They remind me of your class, Wilhelm.’ Lionheart thought to himself.

Shaking away his thoughts, Lionheart looked at Wilhelm's students once again and decided to introduce himself.

“Hello everyone I’m Eric Lionheart, but you can just call me Lionheart or Eric.” Lionheart said.

Theodore lit up as he looked at Lionheart with starry eyes.

“You mean Eric Lionheart! The one who forged several blades such as Akemi and Helen!?!”Theodore asked.

“Yup, the one and only.” Lionheart said as he looked at Theodore

WIth his answer Theodore squealed like a child. Helios looked at Theodore with irritation for a moment before sighing.

“Never have I thought that I would meet someone who would squeal like a schoolgirl when they meet their idol.” Helios said as he looked at Theodore.

“Oh hush you.” Theodore said. “I’m Theodore.”

Theodore approached Lionheart as he began to show him ideas.

“Mister Lionheart! I have several ideas on how to make muskets and swords more effective! I would like to hear your opinion on my ideas!” Theodore said as he looked at Lionheart.

Lionheart looked a bit overwhelmed as he looked at Theodore. Wilhelm decided to intervene either to get them back to their main task of going to the clinic, or saying Lionheart from Theodore’s questions.

“Anyway we can continue to you on another day. These seven need to be looked over by both Beatrice and Vanessa.” WIlhelm said.

“Right!” Lionheart quickly said, “You seven should go to those two and get your injuries treated.” Lionheart said as he quickly recovered from what happened. “You all can come to me and have me repair all of your weapons, provided that you have the money to pay for it.”

“As for you Theodore, if your ideas are as good as you think they are, then improve them by the time we meet again.” Lionheart said to Theodore.

“Got it!” Theodore said.

“Come on now, let’s go.” Wilhelm said as he began to walk towards the clinic.

“Oh and Wilhelm!” Lionheart said to Wilhelm.

Wilhelm turned around and looked at him. “What?”

“Say hello to Beatrice for me!” Lionheart said.

Wilhelm chuckled for a bit before nodding, “Sure, I’ll say hello to Beatrice for you.”

“Thanks Wilhelm.” Lionheart said as Wilhelm and his students went to the clinic to get their injuries looked over and treated.

Liongheart sighed as he thought about Wlhelm.

‘You haven't changed Wilhelm’ Lionheart thought as he looked at where Wilhelm once was. ‘Not one bit.’

————————————————————————————

As William and the others followed Wilhelm to the clinic to get their injuries treated.

Wilhelm looked at Theodore for a moment.

“So, I’m guessing from your reaction that Lionheart is famous.” William said.

Theodore nodded, “Yup! Currently he's one of the most famous blacksmiths in the continent. I actually wanted to meet him, and Gunther Eichwald.”

“Who’s Gunther Eichwald?” William asked.

Before Theodore could respond, Wilhelm answered William’s question.

“Gunther Eichwald is a Blacksmith and he’s going to be one of your teachers here in Grayfield.” Wilhelm said.

“I…see.” William said.

“Come on now we're close.” Wilhelm said as he led them towards a large building with a greenhouse.

At first glance the place doesn't even look like a clinic, the only thing that would make it a clinic is the green cross that was placed on top of the building.

“Why are you looking at a greenhouse?” Helios asked.

“This is the clinic.” Wilhelm answered, “I know that it doesn't look like a clinic but is a clinic.”

Wilhelm walked right up to the door and knocked on it. Quickly the door opened and out came a person from the door to greet WIlhelm.

She had bright green hair and red eyes and was wearing a pure white nurse outfit.

Wilhem looked down at the green haired nurse and greeted her. “Good morning Beatrice.”

Looking up to Wilhelm she greeted him. “Good Morning to you as well Wilhelm, I take it that the entrance exam has been completed and brought in your batch of injured students.”

Wilhelm nodded. “Yes, can you take these seven and have their injuries looked over.” he said as he looked at Beatrice. “Also, Lionheart says hello to you.”

Beatrice nodded, “Very well follow me inside.”

Beatrice entered the building as Wilhelm motioned everyone to follow them and entered the building.

Everyone quickly went inside and sat down at some of the chairs in what seems to be a reception room.

Wilhelm looked at his students before speaking to all of them.

“Alright, now that I have brought you all here I need to go and finish all of your papers. While I’m gone, William, make sure that everyone behaves here. The next thing that I want is for Beatrice to complain to me that one of you caused a mess.” Wilhelm said as he looked at WIlliam.

William nodded as he looked back at Wilhelm. “Got it, I’ll make sure that no one gets in trouble here in this clinic.”

Wilhelm nodded as he looked at Everyone. “Alright, I’ll be leaving, don’t cause a mess.” he said before opening the door and leaving the building.

William sighed as he looked down at the ground.

‘Ugh, why me?” William complained.

Theodore looked at William who was looking at the floor.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

“Are you alright William?” Theodore asked. “You're looking pretty down there.”

“... Yeah, kinda.” William asked. “I just don’t get it why Professor Wilhelm keeps giving me things to do instead of assigning someone else to do it.”

“Perhaps he’s only giving you tasks because he's extremely lazy and doesn't want to lead a bunch of teenagers. Theodore suggested.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Helios said. “I don’t think that’s the reason for him giving William the tasks.”

“Well, how about you Helios, what do you think?” William asked.

Helios sat on his chair in silence as he thought to himself of an answer that might answer his questions.

“Perhaps he sees something in you.” Helios said as he sat down at the chair. “I couldn’t think of another reason as to why someone like him would choose someone else instead of you.”

“... Were you complimenting me?” William asked as he looked at Helios.

Helios chuckled. “Take it as you may.”

“How about you Pyry? What do you think?” Theodore asked as he looked at Pyry.

“Hmmm,” Pyry mumbled as he thought about a proper answer. “I think he likes you.”

“Huh?”

“I think you remind Sir Wilhelm of someone he used to know.” Pyry explained.

William sighed at what Theodore, Helios and Pyry suggested. Him reminding Wilhelm of someone? Doubtful.

Eventually Beatrice entered the reception room and looked at William and the others and nodded to herself.

“Good morning to you all, I am Beatrice, and I would be responsible for your check up and treatment here.” Beatrice introduced herself, bowing in front of them. “Now if you seven, would be so kind as to follow me into your rooms respectively.”

The seven of them were led to two rooms, Willia, Theodore, Helios, and Pyr were in one room. While Dolian, Blake, and Yuri are in the other room. Dolian and the other two were also accompanied by another person who passed the entrance exam.

According to Beatrice, Grayfield regularly changes how their entrance exam operates along with the time they take place.

As William and his team entered their room they all were told to change into hospital gowns for their time staying here in the clinic.

Beatrice looked over everyone's injuries and made sure to order the other nurses inside of their room what to do with their injuries.

Beatrice walked right up to William’s bitten arm and quickly looked over it.

Nodding to herself, Beatrice took off the bandages and began to treat William’s injuries using her magic.

Beatrice glowing in a bright green light and small vines appeared as William’s bitten injury began to heal. William looked on in astonishment at what Beatrioce was doing. He always knew that magic can be used to heal injuries but due to the fact that magic is usually used for offensive purposes, healing magic naturally lagged behind offensive magic. making healing magic less iabl;e since the growth of healing magic techniques couldn’t keep up with the development of offensive magic techniques.

As the light that surrounded Beatrice faded so did the vines that appeared on the ground.

William looked at his previously bitten arm as he stretched out his arm and quickly noticed that his arm was fully healed, almost as if it wasn't injured to begin with.

It was then that William felt that he was absolutely exhausted, almost as if his stamina faded in a blink of an eye.

“Why do I feel like I need to sleep so badly?” William said as he looked absolutely exhausted.

“That is the by-product of my healing magic.” Beatrice said “Although I used my healing magic to heal your injury, what actually happened is that my healing magic was used to speed up something inside of your body such as your body's blood circulation. Then using my magic I used your body’s stamina to forcibly heal all of your injuries that would otherwise take many days to weeks to heal.”

“I see,” William nodded as he understood what Beatrice said. “So that’s why I felt so exhausted.

“I would recommend that you sleep as that would be one of the most efficient methods to satiate your exhaustion.” Beatrice said. “Aside From that, I would be using my healing magic to heal all of your friends' injuries so expect them to be also exhausted by the time I am done.”

“I see,” Willam said. “Thanks I should get some more sleep in.”

WIlliam laid on his bed in the clinic as he closed his eyes and slept.

At the same time Beatrice used her healing magic to heal Theodore, Helios and Pyry’s injuries, causing all three of them to feel the sudden exhaustion that was brought upon by Beatrice’s healing magic.

All three of them quickly went to sleep as Beatrice left their room and went to Dolian and the others room to treat their injuries.

After one to three hours later William and the other three woke up from their short nap.

“Ugh.” William said as he woke up and stretched his arms and legs. “Oh, that feels great.”

William quickly looked at Theodore as he groggily woke up from his sleep.

“Five more minutes.” He said.

“Shut up.” Helios said as he rose from his bed.

“...” Pyry said nothing, he quickly woke up and began to clean his bed.

“So, how do you three feel?” WIlliam asked as he looked at them.

“I dunno, I’m exhausted and hungry.” Helios said as he rubbed his neck.

“I am hungry.” Pyry said.

“So, am I” Theodore said as he yawned.

“Well, I guess that we were all hungry.” William said. “We should ask Miss Beatrice for food when she comes here later.”

And almost as if the gods heard what WIlliam said, Beatrice entered their room with a tray full of food.

Beatrice looked at the four of them before nodding. “I had a feeling that when all four of you woke up you four were going to be extremely hungry.”

William looked at all of the food and shrugged. “Well, I’m not complaining, come on guys, let’s dig in.”

William and the others began to eat their food as they enjoyed the taste.

“Wow!” Theodore said, astonished at the fact that there is actually delicious food in the hospital. “Who would have thought that while in a hospital there is actually edible food.”

“Agreed,” Helios said as he took a slice of steak from the tray and ate it. “I could have never imagined that there is actually some decent food here.”

“Actually, the reason as to why all of you were able to eat is because all of you were not that heavily injured.” Beatrice said to the four of them. “So if you ever get yourselves injured, be prepared to eat standard hospital food.”

William nodded atBeatrice’s words as bothe Theodore and Helios shivered, as for Pyry he was too busy eating a large rack of lamb in front of him to care about Beatrice’s words.

“Also, Pyry.” Beatrice said. “My sister told me to congratulate you for succeeding in your entrance exam.”

Pyry nodded at Her words as he continued to eat the food.

“Also, my sister told me that she regrets not being able to personally congratulate you on succeeding in your exam.” Beatrice said. “Which is good since Vanessa told me while she was drunk that if you ever failed the exam, she would have personally come to you and beat you up.”

William looked at Pyry for a moment before asking,

“Who’s Vanessa?” William asked.

“She’s… One of my guardians.” Pyry said. “And Miss Beatrice is actually Miss Vanessa’s younger sister.”

William nodded as he understood what he said.

William and the others eventually finished eating their food as they all returned the food back to the tray as Beatrice picked up the tray and looked at all four of them.

“Now that all of you are done eating, the four of you should rest in your beds and wait for Wilhelm to come pick you all up.” Beatrice said as she looked at them before

leaving them to rest in their beds.

The four of them laid or sat at their beds as they rested Theodore looked at the roof before asking.

“So… what are the three of you going to do while we wait for our teacher to come pick us up.” Theodore asked.

Pyry shrugged as he looked at him before laying on his bed. “Simple, I’m going to sleep again, wake me up when Sir. Wilhelm returns.”

William nodded “ I see, I’ll wake you up when Wilhelm comes by.” He said before looking at Helios. “How about you, Helios?”

Helios briefly stood up as he went to a shelf and picked up a book before quickly returning back to his bed. Leaning on the wall, Helios began to slowly read the book.

“Simple, I am going to read this.” Helios said as he read the book.

William then turned to Theodore andasked.

“How about you Theo?” William asked

THeodore went to his bag and grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil and showed them to WIlklim.

“I’m going to make more blueprints for my ideas.” Theodore said. “I can also repair and upgrade your weapons while I'm at it.”

“Is the repair free?” Helios asked as he was reading the book. “And would it be high quality?”

“I’ll repair your sword at a discounted price.” Theodore answered. “And yes, I stake my pride that your sword would be repaired at the highest quality.”

Helios briefly stopped reading his book as he looked at Theodore. “...Sadly I’ll have to say no. I’ll be trusting Sir. Lionheart with my sword’s repair. I appreciate the offer though.”

Theodore was saddened by Helios’s response as he sighed. William saw this and decided to make him liven up.

“Well, since you can't repair Helios's sword, why don't you repair my daggers instead.” William offered.

Theodore immediately looked at William, shocked but with clear excitement on his face.

“Really!” Theodore said, “You will?!?”

“Sure” William said as he looked back at Theodore. “So long as you make sure that the repair is at a discount.”

Theodore laughed, “Don’t worry buddy, I’ll make sure that your repair is free, unlike the jerk over here.” He said as he subtly pointed at Helios.

“I saw that!” Helios said.

“Good.”

As Theodore and Helios began to slowly argue at each other, William looked at the two of them as they both argued.

‘Huh, back to arguing.’ William said to himself. ‘I should probably get used to them arguing so much.’

William then smiled as he watched Theodore and Helios argue at each other, surprisingly the two of them also made sure that they were arguing in a quiet manner. Probably making sure that their arguing doesn't wake up Pyry who was sleeping in the same room.

Pyry seemed to have scared those two a bit.

————————————————————————————

At the same time, Wilhelm entered a room inside of Grayfield academy and was greeted by Winston who was waiting for him near the door.

Winston was a tall brown haired teacher at Grayfield. He had brown hair and golden yellow eyes and was remarkably tall. and All he was wearing was a white t-shirt and blazer along with black pants and shoes.

“It’s nice to see you, Wilhelm,” Winston said as he walked towards him. “I take it that the entrance exam that you over saw brought fruitful results?”

Wilhelm nodded at Winston’s words.

Winston nodded. “I see, good. How many passed in your exam?”

“I can guarantee you at least seven of them.” Wilhelm said.

“Seven? That's impressive. And considering that this is your first ever time organizing an exam, I am impressed. I take it you personally saw them fight.” Winston asked.

“Yes, they personally fought a Queen Silicon Spider.” Wilhelm explained. “Now provided only four of them fought the Queen Silicon Spider while the other three fought the Queen’s hoard. The three that fought the horde of spiders would later on join with the either four in taking out the Queen spider.”

Winston looked away from Wilhelm for a moment as he thought about his words. “...That is impressive.”

Wilhelm looked at Winston. “How about you? How many passed your test?” he asked.

Winston looked back at him. “Only one passed my test.”

Wilhelm looked at him. “Are you kidding me?”

“No, I am not kidding you. Only one passed the exam. Despite his appearance he’s quite forminable.” Winston answered.

“What’s his name?” Wilhem asked.

“Paul Aaren.” Winston responded.

“Marcus’s younger brother?” Wilhelm asked.

“Yes, I actually approached Marcus whether or not he’s related to Paul.” Winston said. “And he said that Paul is indeed his younger brother.,”

Wilhelm shakes his head. “Well, either way, him being able to pass is a testament to his skill. Have you talked to him yet?”

“Yes I have.” Winston responded. “Unlike his older brother, Paul is shy compared to Marcus. He also has massive magic reserves, which can guarantee that he’s going to be quite powerful when he fully master’s how to use it.”

Wilhalm nodded, “I see, counting Paul, we now have eight male students. How did Vanessa’s exam go?” He asked.

Winston shakes his head. “Sadly I haven't been told by Vannessa about how her exam went.” he answered. “Then again she would have to tell us about what happened in her exam, when our meeting tomorrow begins.”

“Well, either way. At least we can be glad that we would have at least about 10-12 students this year compared to last year’s 4.” Wilhelm said.

“Last year was certainly a disaster.” Winston stated.

“I wouldn’t call it a disaster, more like a disappointment.” Wilhelm said.

“Hopefully this year proves to be rather promising compared to last year.” Winston noted

“Well if you have nothing left to say to me, I would need to go to Headmaster Eisen’s room to discuss the results of my exam.” Wilhelm siad.

Winston nodded. “I see, well you should go.” Winston said.

Wilhelm nodded as he passed by Winston. Winston looked at Wilhelm for a moment as he sighed.

“This year seems to be quite promising according to Wilhelm.” Winston said. “I’m excited”

————————————————————————————

Wilhelm walked down the hallway as he arrived at a large door. Raising one of his hand and knocking on the door before entering,

As Wilhelm entered the room he quickly saw Headmaster Eisen diligently working on a pile of papers.

Coughing to get his attention Wilhelm looked at the headmaster as he got his attention.

Raing his head and seeing Wilhelm, Eisen looked at him before asking.

“I take it that your exam has brought in more potential students compared to Winston.” Eisen said.

“Yes, I can guarantee you that William passed alongside 6 other people.” Wilhelm said.

Eisen nodded as he returned back to his papers. “That’s good. I was worried that this year is going to be a repeat of last year's disastrous exam.”

“Well, it's not like they expected that the exam is going to change after more than a hundred years.” Wilhelm said.

“Hunters are supposed to be able to adapt to any situation and thrive.” Eisen countered.

Wilhelm said nothing as he looked at his Teacher and sighed.

“Either way, here are all seven people that passed the entrance exam. And naturally William is included in this list.” Wilhelm said as he passed the piece of paper to Eisen.

Eisen picked up the paper and began to read it.

‘Hmmm, let me see here.’ Eisen thought to himself as he read through the paper and immediately saw many things that piqued his attention.

“Tell me Wilhelm, Do you know Eric Hephaestus?” Eisen asked.

“Why do you ask?” Wilhelm said.

Eisen stood up and went to a cabinet and began to search for a piece of paper.

“Ahh, there it is.” Eisen said as he found what he was looking for.

Walking back to Wilhelm, Eisen showed the image of Eric Hephausatus and right next to Theodore’s picture, and Wilhelm immediately understood what he said.

“This…” Wilhelm said as he looked between the two pictures. The two of them bear a striking resemblance to each other; the only difference is their hair and eye color. “Are they related?”

Eisen sat in his chair and looked at Wilhelm. “More than likely yes. And if I remember correctly Eric Hephaetus married lady Elise Vulcan.” Eisen said. “And if you know wha Misst Elise looks like, then you would understand why Theodore looks like that.”

Wilhelm picked up both pictures and looked at the two of them rather closely and sighed. Wilhelm wasn't dumb, he obviously knew Miss Elise, she is one of the most influential Craftsmen in the continent, regarded as the empress of Craftsmen, with her influence she can easily make it harder for Grayfield to buy and receive weapons.

‘Theodore looks exactly like Eric, and more than likely inherited his mother’s hair and eyes.’ Wilhelm thought to himself.

“Well, this just complicates things.” Wilhelm said as he looked back at Eisen. “Does miss Elise know that his son is attending Grayfield academy?”

Eisen shakes his head as he sighed. “I don't know. But more than likely she doesn't know that her son is attending Grayfield.”

“Well, that certainly complicates things. What should we do?” Wilhelm said.

“Inform Miss Elise that her son is in Grayfield. And we’ll discuss things from there.” Eisen said. “We can’t hide something like this from her. If we did, It will cause a business and diplomatic issue. We can’t afford the risk.”

Wilhelm nodded at his words. “Vey well, I’ll be sending a letter to her later about her son attending Grayfield,” he said. “But can I ask you the headmaster?”

“Ask away.” Eisen said as he l;ooked at him.

“Shouldn’t we do something about this?” Wilhelm said. “Isn’t it our duty as Teachers and Professors to protect and raise our students. Because by the time that Miss Elise comes here, Theodore would already be a student here in Grayfield. Wouldn’t it abandon our oaths as Teachers and Professor in Grayfield.”

Eisen silently grumbled at Wilhelms statement. “Believe me Wilhelm, I want to protect young Theodore just as much as you do. But we can’t protect Theodore if his mother doesn't allow us to continue to attend Grayfield.”

Standing up from this chair, Eisen walked right up to Wilhelm and patted his arm at Wilhelm’s shoulder.

“We’ll find a way to convince Miss Elise to let Theodore stay her in Grayfield.” Eisen said as he reassured Wilhelm.
