Integration

Sullivan realized 4 things as he was charging the soldier. One, the soldier had simply horrible form and was running with his sword above his head like a cartoon character. Two, Sullivan’s sword was perfectly balanced and was very high caliber stuff while the soldier's sword could barely be called a huge slab of metal. Three, his life was actually being threatened by this upstart soldier and four this man was about to get a lot more than what he was expecting.

The man started to charge Sullivan until he got within 5 meters of Sullivan. Then 4 meters, then 3. When there were only two meters left the soldier lunged with his sword pointed straight at Sullivan's heart. However, Sullivan was’t called a master fencer for no reason. Now, there is something you need to understand before we go on. A normal human processes things consciously at 40-50 bits per second while Master Sullivan’s brain processing speed is closer to 60 bits per second.

As soon as the sword even started to move Sullivan reacted. Realizing that this man's strength was nothing to scoff at he pulled his sword up to deflect the sword to the side so that he wouldn’t receive the brunt of the force, but even so his arm was jarred as the swords clashed, creating sparks that flew around Sullivan's face and caused him to lose visibility for a split second.

The men both backed up as they each realized that the other was no joke. The raven soldier was clearly having second thoughts about this whole ordeal and Sullivan thought he might be able to stop this conflict form getting TOO escalated.Sullivan looked deep into the eyes of the raven soldier. “Look man, we don’t have to do thi-” As soon as Sullivan relaxed to start talking the man charged him. Sullivan gave up all hopes of settling this nicely and whipped his sword into a ready stance.

As the man drew closer again Sullivan ducked under a fierce slash at his head and stabbed at the man's leg. The man screamed in pain as his leg was pierced clean through by Sullivan’s sword. *Ding* What in the world is that blasted sound!?! Sullivan angrily thought as he tried to focus again as the man quickly jumped back to his feet and gave Sullivan the death glare “Your dead sonny.” He spat with so much venom in his voice that Sullivan was mildly surprised that he didn’t poison himself.

Sullivan ducked under another slash as the man furiously tried to murder him. Sullivan consistently avoided every blow and stabbed out causing more and more *Ding*’s as the fight went on. At this point Sullivan was getting annoyed by the incessant ringing in his ears. Finally he decided enough was enough and dodged on final blow before sinking his sword deep into the man's chest.

The man gasped and dropped his sword to frantically claw at the sword buried deep in his heart before his eyes turned glassy and he slumped to the ground, dead. Sullivan desperately tried to calm his raging heart before he was beset by angry ringing *Ding* *Ding* Ding* *Ding* *Ding* *Ding* *Ding* *Ding* *Ding* “Alright what is that INFERNAL RINGING!” Sullivan shouted. “Dude it's probably just your notifications trying to tell you what is happening just say status.” One of the lion soldiers said, clearly annoyed.

“Huh?” Sullivan muttered to himself. “Just say status?” Welcome to the world of Dolor. I am the System. As you have only been recently added to this world you will get a full integration to this new world. This will make you have a slight advantage over the natives of this world but you are also a lot older than people when they first get access to the system at age 15. Sullivan was very startled by seeing a screen pop into his vision like he was in a video game but then relaxed slightly as he read it. It was at this moment that Sullivan realized a very crucial fact “WAIT, ISN’T Dolor Latin for PAIN!!!”

Starting Integration. Sullivan’s world grew dark as his body was smothered in pain.

* * *

Sullivan awoke to the most terrible pain of his life. His entire body was screaming out in pain and it felt like he had been dumped into a vat of acid taken out and then tortured for an entire day.

Now you need to realize that while yes the pain was REALLY bad it was even worse for Sullivan because he had been relatively sheltered for his entire life so a trivial thing like a rolled ankle was exceedingly painful for him already.

Granted, after he had started fencing he had gotten more used to feeling pain because he was bruised quite often and his training put him through stuff that could be quite painful, but it was NOTHING compared to this.

As Sullivan lie in the grass whimpering he heard a *Ding* Sullivan recoiled from the sound as though stung. After a few seconds of painful silence he conceded and activated his status.

Sullivan went to reach his hand out before his arm screamed in pain and Sullivan crumpled back down after a few seconds of regaining feeling in his arm he tried to mentally “push” on the Yes button.

Surprisingly it worked and his vision was flooded with notifications.

Sullivan realized this must be because of his huge increase in stats. His body felt fluid and strong and his mind felt sharp and organized.

He looked around for his sword and found it still buried in the soldier's chest. He reached over and picked it up and a new screen filled his vision.
