Sullivan picked up the Crystal and started to pull energy from it. He felt like a tsunami was flowing through his arm and entering the middle of his being, his core. The energy quickly bloated him and he felt like he was going to burst from all of the rampant energy inside of him.
He checked his status screen and was shocked to see that he had gained 2 levels from that one crystal. He quickly used the other one and felt his body explode with energy and it flooded through his body opening pathways and channels of energy in his body.
He checked his status screen once again and saw he had gained another 2 levels from that crystal.
He had gained a total of 8 levels from all of the crystals and he was wondering if it was even that big of a deal that he had gained 8 levels from killing that dude.
Wait, how was he so calm?! He had literally taken a life with no hesitation and was acting as though it was any other day under the sun. Was it his intelligence preserving his brain from going into shock or was it something else that was affecting him? He was leaning more toward the latter.
The system hadn’t exactly been honest with him about everything, so he wasn’t inclined to believe it was just his high intelligence that was making him act as though everything was normal.
Whatever, he would deal with all that nonsense later. For now he needed to find other people.
He looked around to see if he could find out which way the soldiers had gone and saw a trail of tramped earth and bloody footprints. Sullivan picked himself up and ran after them.
He shot off and went so fast that the world turned to a blur around him. He tried to jerk to a halt but went flying into a tree before finally coming to a stop. Sullivan groaned and looked down. He screamed in an embarrassingly high octave as he found himself over 30ft in the air, rocking back and forth until he finally fell and hit the ground face-first.
“Owww” Sullivan mumbled until he realized that he wasn’t actually hurt at all.
“Huh” Sullivan said as he looked down at his hands. He could really get used to being a superpowered freak if this was the benefit.
He got back on his feet and ran, this time not going nearly as fast to keep his sense of dignity by not going into the trees whenever he wanted to stop.
Not that he really had any dignity by this point.

He looked around to try to get a sense of his environment and found that he could see a few mountains in the distance but other than that there were just trees, more trees and more trees. He did see what looked like smoke in the distance though.
He finished looking around and sped off again in the direction of all the footprints and stomped down earth forging a clearly marked path through the forest.

As Sullivan was speeding down the “trail” he found that the footprints were getting closer and closer to the smoke he had seen. He thought it was pretty safe to say that that was a village or town of some sort.
As Sullivan got closer to the town, he realized that it was getting bigger as he got closer the smoke now blotted out a good section of the sky.
Sullivan frowned as he turned a corner and saw the city in all its glory; it was huge with a 20 meter tall wall with guard towers on each of the corners. He realized that it was actually an octagon with 8 towers in total.
The city was bustling with life as people went in and out of the massive gates while guards checked each person with a penetrating stare. Sullivan guessed that it was some sort of skill that let them see stuff about the people entering the city.
There were chimneys of every shape, size and color, there were shops and houses that looked as though they were not carved but grown from the ground. There were no bricks or metal of any sort that he could see, not just wood but stone and glass seemed to be doing the same thing.
Sullivan was astonished at the beauty of the city. He bet that the houses were unnaturally sturdy and strong because of their foundation.
As Sullivan drew closer he realized that not everyone was human. He saw what looked like elves, dwarves, gnomes, orcs, dragonkin, and even a goblin or two.
He went up to the gate and approached the guards, “Good sirs, may I enter your fine city?” Sullivan asked with all the poise and dignity that he could muster.
“Stop just stop. We don’t need that kind of crap here, just tell us your name, race and class and you're good to go.” the guard said in a bored monotone voice.
“Oh okay, umm so my name is Sullivan Silver, my race is human(low) and my class is Grand Fencer.” He replied hesitantly.
The guard checked something in his pocket and nodded, waving him in. Sullivan was pleasantly surprised,he had assumed it would take a while to get the necessary things to enter the city, like a quest of some sort.
Quest Unlocked: The World I'm In - learn more about this world and what stats, classes and races are 0/3 Rewards: Knowledge, Variable, Hidden
Sullivan groaned why had he said anything he could’ve just explored to his heart's content and gone slime-slaying or something.
Quest Unlocked: To Kill or Not To Kill - Slay 10 slimes and bring back their remains for the guild merchant 0/10 Rewards: Copper Coins(??), Variable, Hidden
Welp, that did it for him. He was going to do the quests as they already aligned with what he wanted to do but it was still annoying that he was being so blatantly told to do these things.
He focused on the first quest. Time to learn some stuff about this world and why he was here. He set off into the city.
