The meat was white and tasted like bland chicken meat mixed with a small portion of pork. I cut various parts of the crocodile and tasted them all, my favorite being the ribs and tenderloin. The ribs probably wouldn’t make good jerky, so I decided to smoke the rest of the tenderloin. After about eight hours of keeping other crocodiles at bay, and smoking the tenderloin, the jerky was ready.
I unfortunately could not carry the rest of the two thousand-kilogram beast, so I left the corpse to be taken care of by nature.

Fifteen days had passed since I started the slow journey, and I had finally reached the meeting point of the river I traveled along, which just left me with a flat and straight path to follow. Not that there is actually a path, just an imaginary line.
I checked the map every day at least twice, and in no moment had the point I was headed to move, while I could clearly see the others either moving or already in
pairs. Either they are really lazy to move, or are caught up in some kind of trouble.
Climbing out of the river’s shore, I was met with an unbelievably flat stretch of land, although filled with dense looking bushes in some parts. Not to mention that the ground looked like it actually moved, thanks to the unusual amount of snakes.
I carefully walked along, trying not to step on any snake, and occasionally getting scratched by some random bushes. My pace was starting to get somewhat slow, and this was only halfway through the whole route. At least I didn’t have to weave through valleys and jump over crocodiles now, them being replaced with bushes and snakes respectively.
But it was also nice to see other animals besides the deadly ones, like the gigantic macaws that traveled in big flocks or the mesmerizingly colorful frogs. I guess not having civilization in this world was a bonus, from what I could see, no species around here was endangered, or even close to it.
I could also see some horse-sized deer, with a white-faced capuchin ‘riding’ it. It looked more like it had just latched on to the deer, and was trying to not fall off, but from its position alone, I could tell it had done this at least a few times. Maybe this is how monkeys around here entertain themselves, huh.
The other capuchins were cheering the rider from up on the trees, most of them jumping repeatedly and happily screaming, some throwing stuff like small fruit or poop.
I continued walking, occasionally glancing back to see the critters playing around. They seemed like some of the only animals that didn’t grow to stupid sizes, just like some bugs or fish I had seen before.

-POV: ???-
I was playing in the water and occasionally taking pictures while walking by at the beach, when I found this cute, red crab. I decided to take some pictures of it, so I got close to it, then, like, this blue and transparent screen just popped up in front of me, making me tumble down and hit my butt against the sand.
You have been chosen.
Just then, my mind, like, was blown into a new body, but it was also my body? Then I noticed that I was in the same beach, but like, something felt off.
Ugh, weren't there people over here?
There were
Ah! What the hell? That scared me! What is this stupid screen thing? I tried to wave off the floating thing, but my hand passed right trough it. Is that a hologram or something? It seems pretty cool and all, but what does it mean by 'There were'?
You were transported, there is not a single person in your vicinity

I was not?! Look, I'm in the same place, aren't I?
...
Partially
Huh?

I now was apparently named 'Rena', which I kinda' disliked since I'm pretty sure I like my previous name better, and I was naked too, to make matters worse. I quickly put some of my weaving skills into use, the first time those were useful, to make some itchy clothing made out of grass and some palm tree fibers that were laying around. I need to be clothed to at least enter the small town I was staying at with my family, or else, I wouldn't be able to live with myself after being seen naked my a bunch of people. I went to the entrance to the beach, a small street that connected the beach to the town, but it wasn't there anymore, just like, gone. I tried crossing the foliage to get to the town, but, like the street, it was also gone. It's... all gone?
Correct

A few days had gone by, I slept on the beach's sand, and ate the papayas from the few trees that had no monkeys. I've had bad experiences with those before, plus, they're scary.
I also managed to make a type of bow to get the fruit higher than I could reach, and got good with it quickly.
-
A few weeks went by, fruit was no longer available, since the monkeys took over the entire canopy. I started eating whatever fish I could catch, most of them tasteless, and also started to feel a bit sick, I wonder if it's the fish, and could also hunt for bigger animals now. I even got a good bow!
-
A few months went by, I could barely walk more than a few kilometers now without falling over, I guess it would be far worse if it wasn't for my 'stats'. My gums were getting irritated now, too.
The System announced something, but I didn't pay much attention to any of it, I just slept through it.
My reserves were almost full, with dry meat and water filling up the few jars I could make.
That's right, I'll just wait my sickness out...
