Chapter 0: Prologue

Chapter 0: Prologue

It was a hot day.

We lived about an hour and a half from the beach, so my father took us there.

I don’t really like the beach, it’s even hotter than where I live and it has sand.

Sand.

I grabbed my bag, my rocks and stones bag. I don’t like the beach, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like rocks. Especially the ones that are shiny enough.

----------------------------------------

As soon as I stepped foot outside the car, I got hit by an immense wave of heat, but that didn't matter, because I had a goal: to collect rocks.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

The waves crashed as I found pieces of quartz and sea glass, jade was as abundant as the sand itself, and tiny pieces of coral were sprinkled on the ground.

More stones were hidden above the black and coarse rocks that surrounded the beach, so I climbed the rocks, occasionally getting scratched.

As I was climbing, I found a crab.

I finished climbing the rocks until I was at the same level as the crustacean. Immobile, the crab looked at me, as if peering into my very soul, and suddenly, a small and transparent screen appeared.

You have been chosen.

Startled, I reflexively leaped back, only to realize that I had no footing behind.

I fell.

I felt a cold sensation in my chest, a feeling of incoming pain.

And I was right.

I hit my head against the same black and coarse rocks that led me to the crab.

I died.
