Chapter 7: The 5th Hero!?

Chapter 7: The 5th Hero!?

Blessing of Light Integration 25%

Blessing of Heroes Integration 50%

Physical Changes have been partially implemented

Skills Remain Partially implementedTime Remaining: 1d 4h 32m

Hmm, what’s this? I woke up on the cold hard floor of the dungeon with a number of pop ups appearing before me. Blessing Integration?

“Yes, unlike Race changes which are rather simple to implement, your body needs sometime for blessings to fully integrate with one’s body. You should be seeing a few changes in your body, and a few skills that you didn’t have earlier should start popping up. While some skills might only pop up after certain requirements are met.” (Giri)

Eh? Well, that’s fine I’m not in a rush or anything. Though it would be nice to get out of here, It’s kind of lonely. I should have asked that one man where the other two were. I had a nice time talk with the God over at the palace during my dreams. I’ll be sure to look for them later.

I should’ve taken the time to ask him, I don’t even know his name.

I hear the heavy metal door to the dungeon open and an old man in heavy metal armor walks in.

“Um, sir?” (Mary)

“Oh you’re the one that brat brought in huh?” (Old Guard)

He slowly walks over towards my cell, “Hmmm, why would someone like you break into the palace. It’s a damn shame really, a damn shame. But a job’s a job, let’s get this over with as soon as possible, I’m sure it won’t hurt. Well too much….” (Old Guard)

“Huh?” (Mary)

The old guard walked over to the end of the dungeon and grabbed a number of keys, a block of wood, and a collar and chains.

He slowly flipped through the keys, before opening the door to my cell. He drew, the short sword hanging on his waist and held it by my beck, “Hands up” (Old Guard)

I obediently hold my hands up, in fear of the blade a few inches from my neck. He opens up the block of wood, and cuffed my hands. He attached the collar onto my neck.

Pulling the chains attached to the collar he ordered me, “Come on” (Old Guard)

I really am being treated like a prisoner…..

Well, I’m sure I’m being taken to be questioned, so I should be able to clear things up.

The old guard leads me out of the dungeon and through the palace with chains in hand. We seem to be attracting the attention of the palace staff as we walk through the large hallways. And after walking for a little bit, the Old Guard led me to an open yard at the side of the palace.

I look over to the right and notice a smaller building that’s separated from the palace. It’s still within the palace walls, but there’s a distinguishable difference between the two buildings.

From walking around the palace I was able to see a number of beautiful cloths, sculptures, paintings, and decorations spread throughout the hallway. The palace gave of the sort of the luxurious, and grand feeling deserving royalty.

While the building in front of me looked like it was built for the sake of practicality. The building was surrounded by a wide metal fence. And the building had a small courtyard of it’s own fitted with a number of dummies, and it was filled with racks of weapons. It was more than likely a barracks of sorts.

Well, I suppose with all these knights you would need a place to keep them.

As I looked around I could see several knights in armor chatting, or sparring. There were some older knights who were in the courtyard who seemed to be directing some younger knights. And there seems to be a group of knights doing laps around the palace in a full suit of armor.

As the Old Guard pulled the chains attached to my collar pulling me forward, some of the knights who were leisurely chatting came over to have a look.

“Hey, who’s this? A new slave?” (Knight 1)

“Or is it a prisoner?” (Knight 2)

“Yep, she’s a death row prisoner. She broke into the palace, who knows why.” (Old Guard)

Death row prisoner? Wait, I’m a death row prisoner! No, wait!

“Wait! I’m a death row prisoner!?” (Mary)

He turned to look at me confused,

“What did you expect you broke into the palace” (Old Guard)

I panicked, even if I was trespassing I don’t think that's anything that warrants my death! I wasn’t even trespassing either!

I frantically start pleading in an attempt to fix this horrible misunderstanding, “Please wait! This is just a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding! Aren’t you going to investigate me or anything? Aren’t you going to ask me any questions?” (Mary)

“King’s Orders, all prisoners are to be executed. All of the other prisoners who were in the dungeon before you were already executed as soon as the Heroes were summoned. We’re a little busy so we can’t send you to a proper executor so we’ll just have to execute you here.” (Old Guard)

“But you can’t just kill me all of a sudden, what if I was innocent!? What if I had some information you needed!?” (Mary)

“Hmmm, maybe if you were caught a couple weeks ago, but now that we have the Heroes what do we have to fear? I doubt there’s a single country out there that would want to antagonize us right now, they won’t start anything over a single spy. And It’s unlikely we’d have gotten anything off of you anyway. You can only blame your inadequate skills and yourself for getting caught and dying here.” (Old Guard)

“Please, I’m a Hero. I didn’t do anything!” (Mary)

I begged and begged the old man, but he just merely sighed and turned a deaf ear to my pleas. No matter what I did he just wouldn’t listen to me. And I started breaking down.

This is it huh, this is the end. I’m going to die……

The Old Guard pulled me over to a stump that was at the corner of the yard. He held me down with my head facing the stump, and in the corner of my eyes I could see another knight walking over with a large axe.

“Stop!” (???)

What was that? I thought I heard something.

“Any last words?” (Executioner)

I cried out in hopes of saving my life, my face was soaked by my tears and my voice muffled

“P-Please…..I-I…..I di-didn’t do anything….” (Mary)

“Stop!” (???)

I heard the voice of an old man in the corner of my ear,

“It’s a shame, you don’t look half bad you know.” (Executioner)

“Please!” (Mary)

From the corner of my eye, I saw the executioner raise his axe into the air. There’s nothing I can do now. I close my eyes and clench my fists a hard as I can. And I lay there awaiting my death.

But even after a few seconds, I felt neither the pain of having my head lopped right off or the sweet release of death. All I felt was the gentle breeze the blew, and the sun that was hitting my back.

I opened my eyes, and slowly turned my head. And less than an inch away from my face was the large blade of his axe, bound by several white chains.

“I said stop you bloody fools! You idiots! If you really killed her I would have had your heads chopped right off! Now unhand her, unhand her! I’m heading down there right now!” (???)

The executioner quickly pulled his large axe back, and the old guard loosened his grip on me. And as I turned my head to look up at the source of the voice I found a fat old man yelling from atop the castle.

He wore white and gold robes and held a wooden staff decorated with gold pieces. And he had an odd resemblance towards a big. His knows was rather short and wide, and the old man himself was rather short and fat himself.

The old man was fuming with rage, and he turned around and disappeared from his position. Eventually, he came running through the hallways huffing and puffing, sweating like a pig. His white robes were completely drenched with his sweat.

He stood there taking a minute to catch his breath. He raised his staff in the air for a second as he mumbled something. And after a light shone from his staff his previously drenched robes were completely dried.

That looks convenient. I bet he uses that quite often.

As soon as he sorted himself out, the fat old man quickly made his way over at began swinging his staff at the knight beside me.

“You fool, fool, fool!” (???)

“Bishop Mason, please stop.” (Executioner)

“Why haven’t you released her yet?” (Bishop Mason)

“Ah, Right!” (Executioner)

The old guard and the executioner panicked and hurriedly removed the collar and the wooden handcuffs.

I stood up, and stretched a little before looking at the old, fat bishop who saved my life. And sa he looked at me with a straight face, tears began falling down his fat cheeks. Walked up to me slowly, and took my hand. And as he fell down to his knees, he rubbed his tear soaked fat cheeks on my hand. He cried out,

“Oh Lord, oh Lord, forgive your humble servant. Forgive me! Honorable, oh-oh honorable one forgive your servant.” (Bishop Mason)

He let go of my hand, and got on his arms and knees prostrating. He slowly crawled over to my foot, slowly caressing and kissing it.

“Um….” (Mary)

I didn’t know what to do, I want to just step away, or kick him away but he saved me. And he seems to have some form of authority, I don’t want to hurt him or anything.

“Forgive me!” (Bishop Mason)

He continues crying out, as he continues kissing my shoe.

“Bishop!” (???)

An old man donning a cape and crown walked into the courtyard along with a large group of heavily armoured knights.

“Bishop Mason, I saw you rushing over, what has happened!?” (???)

The Bishop quickly rose to his feet, “Oh, your majesty I have great news, great news!” (Bishop Mason)

“What?” (The King)

“She’s…..she’s….” (Bishop Mason)

“What is it Mason! What is she!” (The King)

“She’s an Apostle! An apostle!” (Bishop Mason)

The Bishop once again turned around and began prostrating once more. I backed up a little so he wouldn’t crawl up to me and start kissing my foot again.

““An apostle!?”” (Everyone)

Everyone looked at me in disbelief, before falling down to their knees as well. The executioner and old knight, beside me both dropped what they were holding, and fell to their knees as well. As they clasped their hands, and began begging me for forgiveness.

“Miss, Apostle please forgive us we didn’t know” (Executioner)

“Apostle please, I have a loving wife and child to feed.” (Old Guard)

“Ah, no it’s fine…” (Mary)

I mean I am sort of mad,

“Knights take them to the dungeon!” (The King)

“No, wait….” (Mary)

““Please!”” (Executioner and Old Guard)

The several knights, quickly dragged the two by their feet towards the dungeons. And I simply stood there speechless.

The king walked over with his entourage of knights, and asked me,“Honorable Apostle, may I ask your name?” (The King)

“It’s Mary, you can just call me Mary.” (Mary)

“Very well then, Mary may I inquire about which God you serve, and your mission?” (The King)

“What God? She called herself Freya the God of Heroes.” (Mary)

“Freya’s Apostle!?” (Knight 1)

“She serves the Great Goddess!” (Knight 2)

The knights began to quickly chatter amongst themselves, and the bishop who remain prostrating began to cry even louder, “Freya’s apostle, oh her apostle!” (Bishop Mason)

“Um, and I don’t exactly have a mission. I was just sent her to be a Hero or something. There was a summoning right?” (Mary)

“Yes, there was. Have you came here to assist the heroes?” (The King)

“Ah, no. I’m also came from another world, I was supposed to be a Hero as well, I think.” (Mary)

“A Hero!? How odd……” (The King)

The King stopped for a moment to think, he waved his hands signalling one of the knights by his side to come over. After whispering something to his ear, the knight mumbled something and a light began covering his body.

He quickly jumped into the sky, and in one fell swoop he was already atop the palace. Afterwards he was too far away to see.

The King turned to me once more, and said, “Please follow me Mary.” (The King)

I nod, and follow the King back into the palace. I’m lead up several flights of stairs, up until the third floor of the castle. The king leads me to a small room resembling that of a classroom, outfitted with a chalk board, several bookshelves, and a couple of tables.

There was another door in the room that led straight towards a large open, balcony and the King signalled me to come along.

And as I walk through the open door into the open balcony, I found several knights, and men and women in robes. And amongst the group there were four particularly beautiful women.

The first was a rather short girl, red haired girl in shorts and a black shirt. Her that was tied into a ponytail flew from side to side as she ran back and forth, dodging a knights wooden sword or blocking at times with the black gloves she had on that were outfitted with several metal pieces.

She dashed from side to side, letting loose punch after punch, dodging, weaving from side to side. While at times she would let loose a number of heavy kicks, with her shoes that seemed to also have been outfitted with a few metal pieces.

Though regardless of what she did, she didn’t seem to be able to do anything to the middle-aged knight she was fighting.

And when she blew, the knights wooden sword back with her fists, and took the opportunity to charge in. She found that his sword had already reached her neck.

A young knight watching to the side yelled,“Match!” (Knight 1)

And the two relaxed, “Damn, I thought I had you” (Red Haired Girl)

“Ahahaha, did you really think it would be that easy.” (Middle aged Knight)

“Mmmmm, I suppose not, but I was doing pretty well.” (Red Haired Girl)

“Of course, you have hardly any combat experience to be able to this much is already quite impressive for your level.” (Middle Aged Knight)

The king, who was standing beside me began clapping, “Well done” (The King)

The clapping caught everyone's attention,

“Good morning your majesty.” (Middle Aged Knight)

“Good morning” (The King)

“Good morning your majesty.” (???)

I turned to my left, and noticed a young girl who’s even shorter than the Red Haired girl. She wore a robe similar to the priests from earlier, that was white and lined with gold. I suppose I should say she looked the most ordinary out of the four beauties, especially since she only had short brown hair. But nevertheless she was a beauty in her own right.

And as I stared at her, I could help but want to pet and hug her. She’s so adorable!

“Oh, Good morning Sel” (The King)

“Good Morning your majesty” (???)

A tall, dark blue haired woman walks up from the short golden haired short girl, and greets the king. She’s wearing a blue robe, and a witches hat. And in her hand is a long wooden staff of sorts.

“You too Atla.” (The King)

The king walked past the two beauties, and I followed behind him.

“Good Morning Father” (The Princess)

A beautiful golden haired girl, with cool blues eyes bowed, and greeted the King. She was without a doubt a princess in every sense. She wore a beautiful pink, and white dress, as well as several fine rings, necklaces, and a tiara. She seemed like personification of innocence itself, yet she still exuded an aura of majesty, befitting that of royalty.

She stood next to several knights, as well as one particularly handsome knight. He wore steels greaves, and boots, but his chestplate and helmet was on the floor so he only had a sleeveless skin tight shirt on that allowed one to see his thin, yet robust figure.

On his belt was a particularly stunning sword, that despite being sheathed radiate a dim brilliant light. And his very existence seemed to draw in people, including myself.

This feeling is one similar to that of attraction, but not of love. He’s handsome, but I didn’t fall in love with him. It’s a weird feeling that just makes me gravitate towards him.

Is it his charisma? Or is it something else? It’s something I just can’t seem to put to words.

“Good Morning Lance” (The King)

The young man, bowed, “Good morning your majesty.” (Lance)

The King turned towards me and introduced me, “This Mary the 5th Hero!” (The King)

“The 5th!?” (The Princess)

Ah, old man in black and blue robes walked out of the crowd and asked, “But your majesty we only summoned 4 Heroes.” (Old Mage)

“We did, I don’t know the circumstances, but Mary has been sent here to be a hero. Bishop Mason has already confirmed that she’s an Apostle of Light. And she’s the Apostle of the God Freya!” (The King)

“Oh my, Freya’s Apostle!” (Old Mage)

I interject to make sure there aren’t any misunderstandings, “Um, I’ve been summoned as a Hero as well. I wasn’t originally supposed to be summoned here, but one way or another I ended up as an Apostle, and now I’m here. Please take care of me.” (Mary)

I slightly bow, and the old mage nods happily. Lance walks up to me and greets me, “Hello Mary, I’m Lance” (Lance)

Ah,“It’s nice to meet you.” (Mary)

“So you’re a Hero as well huh? What’s your unique skill” (Hero)

“Hmm? Um, what do you mean by unique skill?” (Mary)

“Oh, you weren’t here for the briefing, just saying [Open Status Window], and it should you show everything you need to know,” (Lance)

Wait do I have unique skills?

“No, you don’t have any unique skills. Your system is different from theirs. They’re operating under the Hero System you’re operating under the Gacha system. Only those with the Hero system have Unique Skills.” (Giri)

Eh, that’s a shame, “Lance I don’t have any Unique Skills, I’m a bit different from you guys you see.” (Mary)

“Eh, is that so? What’s your class then, how about your stats?” (Lance)

I change my status window back into phone form, causing everyone to look at me in shock. I open the Statistics App and show him.

He holds the phone and looks at me in shock.

“You’re only level one so why are your stats so high!” (Lance)

Oh my Stats are high?

“You’re an apostle after all. The Hero System operates like the Gacha System in regards to stats. And at Level 1 Heroes have 5 Points in every stat.” (Giri)

I see, “It’s because I’m an Apostle.” (Mary)

“Is that so…..” (Lance)

“Well you two seem to get along, I’ll leave her to you then” (The King)

“Alright” (Lance)

The King left with his groups of knights.

“Well, then once again I am Lance, this is Sel, she’s Atla, and she’s Kazuka. It’s nice to meet you Mary.” (Lance)
