Chapter 1: The Bornean Forest

Chapter 1: The Bornean Forest

Blade P.O.V

A blinding light flashed and all of a sudden I was no longer in the white space facing the Gacha God. Who would’ve guessed there would a god for something like that.

I walk over to a tree and punch it as hard as I could.

*BANG*

“I’ve grown weaker….” (Blade)

Normally I would have been able to knock the entire tree over with my fists alone.

*DING*

“Every other worlder transferred by Gachachacha has been given the exact same stats. Your about as strong as your average male in your world. The average male in this world however is far stronger due to the presence of mana.” (Giri)

“Giri, I didn’t activate you how did you answer me.” (Blade)

“I have control over your Gacha Phone, and can turn myself on and off at will. If you have any questions feel free to ask me Master. If you want I could even allocate points, activate skills, and give you advice on commandl. ” (Giri)

“I see, Thanks Giri” (Blade)

“It was my pleasure.” (Giri)

Let’s see, I go through my pockets. I was on the streets so I only have a few hidden weapons on me. Damn, if I knew this would happen I would have brought more weapons.

“Giri how do I put things in my the Gacha Phone’s inventory?” (Blade)

“You need to turn on the Inventory App and set it to import, and just drop it in. The phone will automatically adjust to the items size.”

I see, I take out the phone, and open up the Inventory app. It seems that there’s a total of 30 Inventory Slots.

I press the import and take out 2 Pocket Knifes, 10 Throwing Knives, the miniature smoke grenades on my belt, the two single shot pistols in my sleeves, a detonator, and the plastic explosives hidden in my shoes.

After that was done I checked out the Demon Package that was in my inventory.

I felt as my body began to change. It was a surprisingly comfortable feeling. At the end of it I felt like I gained a sudden boost in strength. I looked at the tree I punched earlier, and I hit it.

*BANG*

“It’s still not as strong as before, but it’s an improvement.” (Blade)

“Just how powerful were you?” (Giri)

I smiled wearily at Giri’s question

“The strongest…Anyways Giri is there a way to view myself right now on the Gacha Phone?” (Blade)

“Yes, you have to use the Statistics App. You can also view the effects of your equipment and even equip items using that menu.” (Giri)

I see. I close the inventory app and instead open the Statistics app. I was quite similar to before except now I had a black tail, and two small skin colored horns coming out of my forehead.

“Giri I’m going to do some Gacha, any suggestions?” (Blade)

“Since you have so many points Master, I suggest using the Golden Gachas.” (Giri)

“Golden Gachas?” (Blade)

“Each Gacha is split into several different themes, like Item and Weapon Gachas. However Gacha are further split into Ranks: Normal Gacha, Silver Gacha, Gold Gacha, Diamond Gacha, and Platinum Gachas. Each Gacha increases the chance of getting higher level Gachas. The Normal Gachas are your average gacha and you’re more than likely going to get a Normal Grade, Silver will give you a Higher Chance at Rare Grade and a slightly Higher chance at Super Rare Grade, Diamond Gacha will increase the chance even more for Rare Grade and Super Rare Grade, while Diamond is a Guaranteed Rare Grade and increased Super Rare Grade with a slight boost in EX Grade, and the Last Gacha increases the chances for Super Rare and EX-Grade even further. The items you can get are Ranked from lowest to highest value T, N, R, SR, and EX.”(Giri)

“I see.” (Blade)

Well I have some weapons right now, but they won’t last long. I don’t know how effective those explosives are going to be, and I won’t be able to find any ammo for the single shot pistols. It’s best I get a weapon, some new clothes, and a few abilities.

I opened the Gotta Gacha app and found the Abilities Gacha, I scrolled up and found the Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Platinum version. However the prices went from a simple 100 Gacha Coins to 250; 500; 2,000; and 10,000; respectively.

I only have 3790 Gacha Coins so It would be too risky to do a Diamond Gacha, so I suppose I should just do a Gold Gacha like Giri suggested.

I pressed the button and watched as the virtual crank spun, and a capsule popped out. I pressed the continue, and used up another 500 coins leaving me with only 2790 Gacha Coins.

I’ll stop it there. I opened up the virtual capsules and looked at the two ability cards.

R Mind ControlYou have learned the powerful ability of manipulation, Mind Control. You are able to control all forms of life as long as your INT value is greater than theirs. The greater their INT value the more mana is consumed to control them. The number of people you can control is proportional to your. Every 5 WIS allows you to control 1 more person. This skill is restricted to enemies who are 5 levels higher than you or under. Controlling people higher than you will use a larger quantity of mana. The farther you are from your target the more mana it will cost to use. This skill is not upgradable.

N+ CamouflageYou are able to hide yourself more easily. Activation of spell costs more mana than when it’s in use. The ability strength depends on its level.

Level: [1/25]

“Hey, Giri why’s there a ‘+’ here?” (Blade)

“Master that is an Elite card, they are all marked with ‘+’ . After reaching the abilities max level you receive the option to upgrade it. Doing so will either turn into a ‘++’ or reach the next Grade.“ (Giri)

“What’s the difference between turning into a ‘++’ and reaching the next Grade?” (Blade)

“When a card reaches the next Grade the card’s ability changes. For example you're N+ Camouflage can turn into a R/R+ Stealth or a N++ Camouflage. The ability Stealth isn’t just an improved version, but an evolved version, and if you do get R+ Stealth you can turn it into R++ Stealth or SR Invisibility. Invisibility is a completely different ability from Camouflage. But if you happen to ever win the ability in Gacha it will replace Camouflage.” (Giri)

I see well either way Camouflage has it’s own uses, but if I can get it to SR Invisibility that would be even better.

Well now I suppose I should get a change in clothes. I moved to the Equipment Gacha. I suppose I should just get normal equipment.

I was about to press the button, but I notice something, the color of the next Gacha above was the same. It should normally be silver. So I scrolled up, and found a different Gacha. Equipment Bundle.

“Giri I assume that Equipment Gacha are single parts and Equipment Bundle is an entire set of clothing right?” (Giri)

“Affirmative, and if you are lucky you can receive the weapons related to the clothing or several other items. It’s like a Gacha within a Gacha, as Gachachacha described.” (Giri)

I see, it’s over 7 times the price of the Normal Rank equipment Gacha but at least I’ll match, and there might be a bonus. I pressed the Equipment Bundle Gacha and used up 350 Gacha Coins.

The capsule opened up revealing a box labeled Hunter Bundle

Blade scrolled through the app and clicked on the Silver Weapons Gacha once which cost 300 Gacha Coins, and the Normal Item Gacha 5 times which cost 250 Gacha Coins. The results were:

R 1x Gorgon's Head (Single Use) The head of a Gorgon an ancient beast capable of petrifying all who dare stare in it's eyes. This item mimics said item, but it can only be used once on one person.

“Why the hell is there a Gorgon’s Head and a Banana Peel in the Item Gacha?” (Blade)

Putting aside the Gorgon’s head, the banana peel is completely useless. So I just took it out of my inventory and threw it away.

“Anyway I still have 1890 Gacha Coins, any more suggestions?” (Blade)

“Why don’t you go to the Gacha Shop and use your coins to buy some skills.” (Giri)

That sounds reasonable. I open up the Gacha Shop and find a wide plethora of skills, items, and miscellaneous goods.

“Any suggestions?”( Blade)

“How about these” (Giri)

“So expensive!”(Blade)

“These abilities are quite powerful and have a large amount of uses so naturally their price is higher. Also since it’s a guaranteed skill rather than a chance skill the price is also higher.” (Giri)

Well it will be an investment. I purchased all of them, leaving me with only 40 Gacha Coins.

“I’ll leave some for later for now let’s allocate some points.”

I suppose I’m finished. I guess I’ll need to go find something to kill. I should also secure some food and water.

I go to the Gacha Phone's settings and turn on Status Screen mode. The phone disappears out of my hand and a HUD appears in front of me. In the corner of the HUD i can see the minimap they were talking about, but how do I use the Radar?

“You can activate it manually by using the Status Screen to bring up the Skills Menu of the Statistics App, and pressing each skill individually, saying it’s name, or willing it to happen.” (Giri)

“Giri I didn’t say anything. How did you…”(Blade)

“When I’m in Status Screen mode I can no longer use my speakers so naturally the only way I can communicate is through telepathy. You only need to think of a question for me and I’ll answer it. Well if I can answer it that is… By the way I suggest you configure the HUD in the settings. Here’s the button.” (Giri)

A big gear appeared in front of me and I tapped it. It revealed a variety of settings.

Let’s see I’ll turn on HP and MP gauges, and enable icons. I’ll keep inventory tab over here so I can open it at a moments notice, and there’s the Ability Menu. What’s this? Giri Cam?

I pressed it and a sort of Face Cam of Giri appeared in the corner of the HUD.

“Oh. Hi Giri.” (Blade)

“Hello Master.” (Giri)

“It feels weird seeing you as a mannequin so let’s use a bit of the left over coins to change your appearance.” (Blade)

I navigated the status screen to find the Gotta Gacha app and opened it. After scrolling through it for a bit I found a section for Giri.

Giri Gacha Event

*Free Roll*

It’s free that’s even better.

N Female Fairy ModelA skin for Giri modeled after a little female fairy.

NotificationGiri is set to default skin and will be changed to Female Fairy Skin.

Giri all of a sudden glowed before turning into a little Fairy on the screen that was only a few inches tall in height.

Well let’s get going then. I activated Radar, and a number of dots appeared on the map. A number of them were Red, while the rest of them were white.

I activate Camouflage and headed in the direction of one of the red dots. Following the map in the corner of my eye I managed to stumble upon a small Rattlesnake

Green SnakeLevel 2A normal snake found in the Bornean Forest. It has hardly been affected by the mana. This snake does not have any venom.

It’s only level 2. I open the Inventory tab and click on the Ritual Dagger

Ritual DaggerA special dagger imbued with a magic circle. Special FunctionBlood AbsorptionThe Ritual Dagger is capable of absorbing the blood of anything, and is capable of storing it in it’s own pocket dimension. To extract the blood you must have a suitable container.Skill SocketingBy using a Ritual It is possible to store a spell or skill onto the Dagger.

As I inched closer, the little green snake noticed me, and hissed, warning me not to come any closer. It’s a little cute honestly, nothing compared to those frightening genetically modified pythons in the lab.

The snake lunged at my leg in an attempt to bite me. If I was wearing my usual equipment I probably wouldn’t have to worry about it, but even if it’s not venomous I can’t risk taking an injury, especially without modern day medicine to lend me a hand.

“No hard feelings” (Blade)

I move out of the way and quickly squatted down pinning the snake’s head to the ground with the Ritual Dagger in my hand.

I heard a little side effect and noticed that I gained a Gacha Coin.

Giri is it only money I can covert to Gacha Coins? Also is there anyway I can more easily harvest material from the things I kill.

“Unfortunately you can only convert Money to Gacha Coin. Luckily there is a skill that meets your requirements.” (Giri)

N ExtractThe ability to quickly harvest a corpse's material almost instantly. The Higher the level the higher quality of extraction and the more options available.

Level: [1/10]Cost: 250 Gacha Coins

Oh cheaper than the other ones, but I still don’t have enough. Well I even without it I can still probably use the snake for something. Or not…..

I look down at the green snake and it was just a bunch of shriveled up skin and bones. I guess the Ritual Dagger blood sucking abilities were activated passively. I probably shouldn’t use this too much.

I put the Ritual Dagger back into my inventory and instead pull out the Cursed Machete. As I held it in my hand I felt as I gained a boost in strength. Though it did feel a bit harder to think straight.

I walked around the forest constantly using camouflage, thanks to my current WIS level I seem to be able to maintain my Mana at about 90% when having it active the entire time. I walked around a bit and found a few more green snakes killing them with the machete, and putting their corpse into my inventory.

I also found a rather aggressive ball of fur, a Horned Rabbit.

Horned RabbitLevel 3A rabbit with a horn. Make sure he doesn’t strike your crotch boys and girls.

Surprisingly, it was a higher level than that snake. But I killed it just as easily.

After going around killing a few more Green Snakes and Horned Rabbits, I managed to gain enough EXP to Level Up.

I put 5 More Points into WIS, and I dumped 2 points into Radar, 2 Into Analysis, and 1 into Camouflage.

Now Radar was extended 20 more meters totaling 50 meters.

I also had earned 15 Gacha Coins putting me at 55.

I took some time to rest, and made a fire and cooked up some of the Horned Rabbit.

----------------------------------------

Oh what’s this? As I was eating my Horned Rabbit meat, I noticed on the minimap that there were a large number of red dots 50 meters from my position.  They seemed to be steadily coming closer.

I activated Camouflage, and put out the fire. I got into the bushes, and looked around. Past the trees and branches I was able to see a pack of 9 wolves.

Dire WolfLevel 5A wolf commonly found in forests, known to hunt in packs. They are quite intelligent and in a group are quite deadly.

There were Dire Wolves between the levels of 5 and 9 and then finally there was their Leader.

Dire Wolf Pack LeaderLevel 10The Alpha Male of a Dire Wolf pack. As the leader, he has been blessed with greater strength and intelligence, and can even kill a grown man by itself. His claws and jaws are especially powerful; his own pack fears him.

I remember fighting wolves back in the day, these ones seem a bit different though especially that Dire Wolf Leader. He seems far stronger than the rest. Well at least they aren’t rigged with explosives, this should be manageable to some extent even with my current level.

I put away the cursed machete back into my inventory. The increase in strength and the damage that it gives isn’t bad, but not right now. Instead I take out the quiver, along with the the ten extra arrows I got. I hang it over my shoulder, and grabbed the bow out of my inventory. I also grab two vials of poison and place it next to me.

I slowly made my way towards the pack. In most cases I would keep my distance and shoot them from afar, but I doubt I’d be able to kill them all with just this bow alone.

I’m about 30 or so meters away from the pack and they’ve yet to notice me. I open the abilities tab, and activate Mind Control. I target 1 Level 7 Dire Wolf, 1 Level 8 Dire Wolf, and 3 Level 5 Dire wolves.

I look at my MP gauge and it had instantly dropped from 90%, to a little less than 60%. Damn you can’t underestimate the level penalty. Even when I am closer the mana usage is nothing to scoff at.

I’m only going to have a minute or two to settle this. I take a vial of poison and smear it on the arrow and launch it towards the unsuspecting Level 9 Dire Wolf.

It’s reflexes aren’t bad, and it managed to notice the arrow before it hit its head so I only managed to hit its leg. It seems that they’ve noticed me, but that’s fine you’ve got something else to worry about.

I order the Level 7 and 8 Wolves to kill the injured Level 9 wolf, while I ordered the other wolves to attack the Level 6 Dire Wolf.

Their Dire Wolf Leader growled, and unhesitatingly killed the 3 Level 5 Dire Wolves. But that was fine, they managed to injure the Level 6 Dire Wolf. I coated another arrow with poison and I shot it at the Level 6 Dire Wolf, killing it off. Now there’s only another Level 7 Dire Wolf and the Alpha Male left.

I command the Level 8 and 7 Dire Wolves to simultaneously attack the remaining Level 7 Dire Wolf, while I take pot shots at the Wolf Leader.

Unfortunately, only a few arrows managed to hit their mark, but they didn’t seem to be able to do much to the Wolf Leader anyway. Instead the Wolf Leader killed the Level 8 Dire Wolf under my control.

I looked over at my Mana Gauge and it was already at 10%. I only have a few more seconds. II smeared more poison onto my arrows and shot the Level 7 Dire Wolf, while my Level 7 Dire Wolf held it in place.

The Wolf Pack Leader managed to kill the last wolf in my control, but it was able to buy enough time for my arrow to pierce the last Level 7 Dire Wolf. With this I won’t have to worry about the Level 7 Dire Wolf, I’ll just leave it there to die.

The Wolf Pack Leader turned to look at me. It rapidly began charging at me.

I only have 19 Arrows left, I took another vial of poison and coat the arrows in them. I shoot and shoot, but the Wolf Pack Leader just dodges them.

This is bad, 25m……20m…..15m…...

I put away the bow and the coated arrows and pull out the Cursed Machete and Ritual Dagger.

Giri! Allocate all stats evenly to strength and endurance!

With all the Wolves I killed I managed to level up twice, it seems I even gained EXP and Gacha Coins for the wolves the Wolf Pack Leader killed. Unfortunately, I’m out of mana I don’t have enough mana to cast Mind Control on the Wolf Pack Leader.

I put a vial of poison in one of my pockets, and I got ready…...

10m…...5m…...

The Alpha Male jumps at me viciously. It’s quite fast, a definitely faster than your regular wolf.

I can’t block this. I dodge to the side, and his claws manage to scratch me. The injury is negligible, if I can wrap it up with some cloth I’ll be fine.

I swing my machete, and managed to cut into the Wolf’s arm. Damn it’s fur so strong.

I grit my teeth, and run away. The Wolf Pack Leader comes chasing after me. I turn my head, and I see it jumping straight at me.

I smile broke out on my face, all according to plan.

I throw the vial of poison into the air, and bent my back watching as the Wolf Pack Leader passed over head.

Naturally I didn’t let such a wonderful chance go and I stabbed it’s stomach with the Ritual Dagger.

He landed right in front of me and turned around. He looked as if he was about to vomit, which is quite understandable after eating a bunch of poison. I could see blood coming out of his mouth, the glass probably cut up his gums and tongue when he took a bite out of it. Hehehe

I start to back up but he charges at me with considerable speed. Shit, he’s still this fast even after that!

I had no other choice ,but to take the blow head on. I swing my machete at his neck cutting him, but there was a deep cut on my chests as I was sent flying back.

My body hit a tree, and as I looked at the corner of my eye I noticed my health was at dangerous levels. Can’t underestimate someone twice your level huh. I go into my inventory and tap a Health Potion, surprisingly the wound on my chest began to rapidly heal.

Oh my these Health potions work way better than any performance enhancing drug I’ve taken. I look at the Wolf Pack Leader, and it seems like his movements have been dulled. The Ritual Dagger is gradually draining his blood as it’s stabbed into his stomach, and the poison is definitely doing it’s job.

I charge at him, and he fiercely jumps at me. It’s over, his movements have slowed far too much, while with the help of a Health Potion I’m in tip top shape.

His powerful claws miss me, and I swing my my machete at his neck. This time the wound is incredibly deep. He’s lost far too much blood, and is doing the best he can to stand up. He tries to charge me again, but he’s grown far too weak. I walk up to him and cut off his head.
