7: Night's Reflections

Void was sleeping soundly in his room, the night embracing the household in its quiet. After dinner, Maria opened his door slightly to check on him. Seeing him sleeping peacefully, she let out a sigh of relief.

"It's good that he's sleeping peacefully, my little prince," Maria thought. She couldn't forget the day he fought off those intruders when he was just ten. Her brave gentleman, though he suffered severe blood poisoning, had to change his original blood with hers. Despite this, watching him grow filled her with both happiness and concern.

"He is so feminine, which may prevent him from finding a wife," Maria mused while returning to her chamber. "I guess I have to be a little stricter, even though I don't want to. I'll have to lower his training sessions." With new determination, Maria headed back to her room.

Meanwhile, Arcane, hiding herself carefully, listened in. "I guess Master Void is unaware that he is a boy and he must act like one. As his personal maid, I must take measures too! I can't let him shame himself! My job is to take care of my master Void. I'm devoted to him, his only maid. I still remember the day he claimed me with those bold words..."

"If there's no one for you, I'll be for you, and you'll be mine!" Void had said, with an intent to help her, though she interpreted it differently.

Arcane lost herself in the flashback when Void found her, fidgeting and giggling in a corner. "He will praise me when he knows how devoted I am. What will he do? Will he praise me? Fufufu..." she giggled. "Achoo!" She sneezed. "It's cold, I guess. I should go to sleep too."
