"Magic is a gift; abuse it, and it becomes a curse" - Archmage Marcus Bloodworm
Suddenly, a small blue light appeared in the living room, then the light grew bigger and bigger until it reached the size of a large door. "Okay let's go then" said Kyson's mother. They both walked into the portal and the first thing Kyson felt was a surge of powerful magical energy coursing through his body. The sensation only lasted a few seconds because, soon, Kyson was through the portal standing at the main entrance of Novus University.
"Damn" Kyson and his mother said in unison. Kyson had seen pictures and videos online of the university but nothing compares to actually seeing it in person. Describing Novus University as grand and opulent wasn't enough. Towering gothic-style buildings with hints of Greek and Roman architecture dominate the skyline, while sleek, modern structures float effortlessly in the air nearby. The sprawling campus stretches across three islands, each connected by elegant bridges and adorned with majestic buildings. A small colosseum sits proudly on one of the three islands that make up the school, serving as a battleground for the famed student tournaments. The main entrance itself is adorned with ornate details, displaying the school's wealth and prestige. While Kyson can't see it write now he knows that at the back of the school there is a main road that connects the campus to the city across the waters, though most prefer to travel via the school's magical portals.
"Why didn't the portal take us straight into your dorm room?" asked his mother. "probably so that we can be awestruck by the school's campus when we first arrived." answer Kyson. " Ha! You might be right about that!" said his mother. Since Kyson and his mother got to campus so early that there were barely any people at the front entrance yet. Kyson saw a few individuals walking past them who seemed to be apart of the school staff based their identification badge on placed on the left breast of their clothes. He also saw a few students milling around like him and thought that they might be overly-excited first years students like him.
Suddenly, a floating object started heading towards them. Upon closer inspection this object actually a machine called an Arcane Android. It was a magic-powered assistant invented about 20 years ago by the legendary artificer type wizard, Damon Runis. It had no legs and faint purple light emitting from the bottom of its torso; it's body was round and it had two robotic arms with its hands clasped together as a greeting. Its head was also round with the only things on its face was two big crystallized blue eyes. " Welcome to Novus University! You must be the first year Kyson Creed, yes? Here to move into dorm and start your enchanting and fulfilling journey as a student of this incredible institution!?" asked the android. "Uh yeah, thats me" Kyson answered back. "Excellent! Then let me guide you to your room! Also I'll bring these!" said the android as it took the boxes my mom and I were holding from us into one in each of its arm. As it turned and started floating away, Kyson and his mother started following it. " Wow this school has everything doesn't it?" whispered his mother. "I thought you only see Acrane Androids in places like the senate or guilds." she continued. Kyson nodded in agreement. " Plus I think those are the new models too" he said.

They followed the android through the school and only stopped a few times to gawk at their surroundings, but they somehow ended up back outside of the campus building heading towards a large circular platform. A moment after Kyson, his mother and the android got onto the platform it started to float and rise up into the air up towards one of the school's floating buildings. The sudden moment surprised Kyson and his mother and they both looked at each other in shock. " Okay so I guess thats the dormitory building that we're heading towards. Mind telling me why we just didn't take another portal to get there?" asked his mother turning towards the android. "Portal magic while incredibly convenient and powerful, is very expensive to maintain and has a finite number of uses until it runs out and needs to be re-powered again. Novus University tends to only use them for bringing in special guests, for emergencies or for special days like today. We has 5000 new and returning students from all over the world coming to school today using the portals. So when the school can it sometimes relies on these contraptions that require much less magical energy as a mode for transportation." answered the android.
As they reached the building, the androids guided into the dormitory building and up through the floors until they reached room 220. " Here we are!" exclaimed the android. Kyson opened the door to see it reveal a large bedroom with two beds on opposite sides of the room. There was also two big armoires with hanging rods and drawers. Kyson couldn't help but smile, this was three times the size of his bedroom at home. The android came into the room after his mother and placed the boxes on top of one of the beds. " If that's all you need from me, then I'll be taking off now, and again welcome to Novus University!" said the android before leaving. "yeah, thanks" said Kyson as he started unpacking his clothes from his boxes. " Do you want my help with unpacking those?" asked Kyson mother. " No, i'll be fine" said Kyson. " Then I guess I better head back home" said his mother. Kyson turned to see her teary-eyed staring back at him. He quickly went to give her a hug that seemed to last forever. " I promise to call all the time, don't worry" said Kyson. His mother chuckled. "Oh I know you will because if you don't then I'' just have to come back here to teach you a lesson. Even without the portals, i'll swim here or steal a car if I have too." said his mother. Kyson released his mother from the hug and they both laughed. " I'll see you soon mom" Kyson said. " Yeah, i'll see you soon too" responded his mother. Then she left. Kyson went back to unpacking his stuff only to realize that, in is hurry to get to school early, he forgot to use the bathroom. And so, Kyson's first task on his journey to becoming a great wizard was to find the boys' bathroom.
