Chollo then left his domain and went to one of the other functions of the online room, the species fertilization field. With the daily rent of 20,000 pesos for the primary type of fertilization field, it is more expensive than a single mushroom card. Thankfully, he received his national stipend a day ago, so he has no problems in renting the place temporarily.
Chollo soon found himself standing in the customizable field.
There were white clouds floating around, he felt the cold wind kiss his skin while the endless green grass of the plains swayed vibrantly under his feet.
"Welcome to the fertilization area, please select basic field information."
The mechanical sound rang, and a familiar interface appeared in front him.
For this important function, how can he not know anything? Many similar simulators have long been thoroughly taught to their top class, so they all know them by heart.
For the primary fertilization field, 5,000 kilometers of land with 1,000 kilometers of sky can be opened up for him.
"Use the original template, with plain terrain and basic sky parameters."
Chollo didn't hesitate to choose the most default parameters. Mushrooms can grow anywhere. While there could be some rare types of mushrooms which need more advanced settings, there was nothing of note for the mushrooms he can buy with his meager budget.
Soon, Chollo felt the environment around him changed drastically.
In an instant, heaven and earth returned to chaos, earth, fire, water and wind reopened, thunder blasted lightning, and the clear and bright sky turned black as night.
As if pressing the fast forward button, everything moved at an extremely fast speed. The land settled, the excess water sank, and the white clouds appeared once again.
In the end, a vast grassland with beautiful scenery and endless horizon appeared, with breezy, white clouds decorating the sky.
"Hi~ha~"
Chollo took the time to relax and lie down on the grass, breathing fresh air greedily.
After lying down for a while, when he finally got tired of this fresh feeling of relaxation, he summoned the field interface.
"Congratulations to the user Sly Marbo for completing the domain development, please choose your dependent species."
"According to the information provided, the mushroom family will be given for you to choose."
"Mushroom Man: A low-level monster, you need 100,000 pesos for a hundred of the race."
"Aunty Umbrella: Intermediate monster, you need 250,000 pesos for a hundred of the race."
"Green Mushroom: A low-level plant, needs 10,000 pesos for a thousand of the race."
........
"Green mushrooms, 8000 of the race."
Chollo did not hesitate, the green mushroom is the simplest, most suitable race.
Soon, his capital was emptied in an instant, and 8 cards with mushroom patterns appeared in front of Chollo.
With a single thought, the cards flew into the sky, and then like raindrops they fell, and soon the plain was instantly covered with mushrooms, large and small.
And their sizes are different, the big ones are bigger than the house, and the small ones are just the size of a millstone.
Deep into his soul, he reached into the card he accidentally received back then.
As soon as the card appeared, he can feel all mushrooms began to instinctively compete for this card. But he still continued his decision of using it into the biggest mushroom in the middle of the field.
"Use this two-sided card on the largest mushroom."
The order was given to the interface, and a burst of light broke out from his body again.
The light radiated the largest mushroom, one that was as tall as 4 meters, and then it began to change.
"Will I be alright? It's a mushroom after all."
Chollo was hesitating.
Looking at the plain again, Chollo felt that in the dense fungal growth, deep within the canopy of the largest mushroom, life was being born.
After a moment, the hesitation in Chollo's eyes disappeared, and was replaced with the fierceness resembling the first time he fought in his past life.
He put all his consciousness into the mushroom.
Chollo, who had already ignited the divine spark, easily took off part of his own soul fragment and implanted it into the STC.
He then sent the STC implanted with his soul to penetrate through the membrane of the mushroom, and it was slowly absorbed inside.
Maybe because of the appearance of this soul fragment, or maybe because of the card, it immediately caused a change in the mushroom.
The mushroom, which was originally mindless, has now become conscious.
The first change is the roots of the mushroom located deep inside of the ground.
Its roots began to develop rapidly, and the mushroom began to devour all its stored nutrients and turned it into energy.
It was using its huge nutrient reserve to continuously grow its roots to reach into the other smaller mushrooms. With the soul of Chollo, it knew its purpose and is doing all it can to achieve it, at the expense of the mushroom overexerting itself, thus reducing its massive size at a rate that can be seen.
This mushroom, although it is becoming smaller, but as more mushrooms are giving it "nutrition", the rate at which this mushroom reached into more root networks of the other mushrooms sped up, until it finally connected to all 8000 mushrooms, finally adding them into its network of roots.
Now, instead of using nutrition to grow roots, the mushroom with all nutrients being funneled into is not growing at the rate of the energy being expended, for all the energy is being used in the creation of the first orkoid!
While all the other mushrooms are being drained of their nutrients, the main mushroom began to reach its old size, even becoming more bigger than what it was.
"It's close now, I can feel it, nevermind the cost, use all the nutrients to grow the first ork."
Countless spores, like a terrifying green tide, were funneled to the main mushroom housing "Chollo's" consciousness.
They are like vicious gaunts, racing with each other to complete the first great cause!
And in the process of competition, this orkoid gradually formed slowly inside the mushroom!
In the end, countless mushrooms that were healthy but a few hours ago cannot be found, only husks of what seemed to be dead, dry fungi.
In the center of the dry field of dead mushrooms, the first ork appeared.
Chollo was not surprised. the creation of this race is unprecedented, even, not well understood. After sending the ork to the deepest level of the Immaterium with the flick of his hand, he then summoned the system assistant of the fertilization field.
"I am finished, please send me out."
There won't be any other ork's growing due to the first ork has collected all the spores, so Chollo ignored the remaining dead fungi, and left the fertilization field.
His consciousness plunged into darkness again, the pulling sensation reappeared, and when Chollo opened his eyes, the cold device slowly left his skin.
After coming out of the pod, Chollo could already feel that he had a connection with somewhere in the void.
"A new dependent familiar race has been created and the data is being updated, please wait..."
"Please select the priesthhood, the true name of god, the name of race, and the name of domain."
A soft, female sounding voice resounded in his head as he tried to trace the connection to the void.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"Is this what I think it is? Attracting the attention of Gaia and gaining the qualifications of a god in advance?"
It is said that the will of the super world, Gaia, will reward those who created a new species a divine greencard, one that will pave the advancement to the next realm smoothly. Chollo was rather disdainful of it in the past, but he is'nt as unbelieving of it now. He now knows this free pass was like a reserved parking area to the rather limited godhood slots left in the world, so he easily changed his mind on the subject and embraced the thick thighs of Gaia wholeheartedly.
"Uhhm, hello, Miss Gaia, I choose... the main priesthood of the god of war, but instead of a and r, with a-a-a-g-h instead, the name of god, Orkanid, the name of race... half ork, half tyranid, so Tyrant Ork, with a K. and the domain is called the Realm of Chaos!"
"The update is complete, Prosperity to Orkanid, of the priesthood of Waaagh and god of all Tyrant Orks. Welcome to the family of Gaia!"
"The priesthood, race and domain are being added, and the data is updating..."
"True Name: Orkanid."
"Level: Demigod."
"Title: God of Waaagh, One demigod legion (upgrade to one man army, and sublevel to one god pantheon)."
"Magic skills: Brutal, Kunnin, Infest."
"Dependent Family: Tyrant Orks, Quantity: 1."
"Faith: 0."
"Subsidiary Realm: Realm of Chaos."
"Homeworld: Gaia."
"Property: None."
While Chollo was thinking of the thing that just happened, he heard someone talk to him.
"What's your progress now?"
Seeing that he finally found Chollo alone, the adviser of the class, Lito, decided to step forward to ask him about his progress.
"The mushroom has already been transplanted to my domain, just waiting for the results."
Chollo's face was expressionless, just a simple answer.
"(Mushroom? Only one?) ... Well, it's good that you have plans for the future, and want to make a living by selling mushrooms, but you have to understand, one mushroom will not be able to help you pass the assessment."
Lito was a little speechless about this student of his that want to sell mushrooms but don't even know how to raise them, he really doesn't know how and where to advise him now. At first, he was conflicting whether to lecture about life or decisions, then he finally surrendered in confusion.
"I see, I'll go back first if it's okay."
Chollo didn't explain further, and just left the room.
Lito didn't add anything in the end, just wallowing in regret for his decision of not intervening in the choice of Chollo quicker. If only he could be more assertive back then, things would have not turned out like this.
This kid usually has good results, but if he can't ignite the fire and become a god, he will be an ordinary person at best, unless he leaves Gaia and goes to other super worlds.
Leaving the room and just walking outside, Chollo could hear lots of gossip, and countless people's eyes were looking down on him.
"It's him, I heard that he chose mushrooms for his familiars."
"He looks handsome, but I guess he won't even be able to pass the assessment."
"How did he even enter the top class? Wait, who are his parents again?"
"If I were his parent, I'll kick him out. Mushrooms as the dependent familiars, I'll never see nor think of it in a hundred years."
"Me too, I've never heard of anyone choosing mushrooms as the dependent familiars for the assessment."
"Maybe the father makes a lot of money, thus he can raise the number two wife and child."
.......
Chollo clenched his fist, his body rippling with blue veins as he hears more idle gossip, but he did not break out in the end, instead he walked into the crowd silently.
Finally, outside the school gate, he walked calmly on the street, thinking that everything here is already different from the previous life. He cannot be willful like in the previous life anymore, he still has his father, mother and sister to take care of.
Although he is not afraid of those people who doubt him, he dares not break his promise to his family again, family which he dearly longed for in his past life. He fears that once he breaks his word, he might become a colder, crueler person than what he once was in the past.
Everyone might be a demigod, but he is much different from everyone else. He had experienced the feeling of cannon fodder these gods and demigods have been using to play their divine games with, and he had seen and experienced nightmares and horrors the likes of which these gods have never even imagined inside their own little bubble called innocence.
When he got home, his mother had already cooked the food. Today, the whole family gathered together, a somewhat rare occasion, for even the sister who was studying in the third grade of junior high also rushed back.
"Eder brother!"
"You're back already? How are your studies now?"
"You're going to ask this first after a long period of separation? What kind of brother are you?"
Joyce said dissatisfiedly as she shook Chollo's arm affectionately.
"OK, stop."
She then pulled Chollo to sit in the table,
After looking at the dishes in the table.
"Why is there so much food?"
Chollo asked, and further thought that there seemed to be no birthday to be celebrated today.
"Because I helped with the shopping, that's why."
Joyce smiled like a little fox, obviously using public funds to pick her favorites.
"That's private use of funds."
The two siblings were arguing while eating together with their parents, with warm sunlight pouring in through the window. The scene was warm and pleasant.
After the meal, while mother and Joyce were washing the dishes in the kitchen, only Chollo and father were left alone, chatting on the sofa.
"How is the selection of the dependent familiar species?"
"Dad, do you believe me?"
Chollo did not answer directly but looked at his father's eyes while replying with another question.
"Yes."
"Just trust me, even if I tell it now, you would'nt understand. All you have to do is to wait for the National Tests to see the results!"
After finishing the graduation project, is the National Tests which also counts as the College entrance examinations. The college entrance examination refers to the national tests. If you have a good score in the national tests, you can definitely be admitted by a good university.
If you fail the national tests, the aspiring candidate can still choose to retake next year. This is different from failing the graduation project since the candidate is already considered a graduate with a domain that can support themselves.
To prepare for the exam, candidates who just graduated can pay their teachers to tutor them on how to train believers and collect beliefs. This is especially important, because new graduates can still delay taking the national tests for one year. During the national tests, they have to battle with the other older candidates which maybe accumulating their strength for a long time, so it is especially important to have a good mentor who can impart his knowledge and experience.
If you are not eligible to take the National Tests, your graduation project must have failed the assessment. Those who have failed can either stop schooling and work as ordinary workers at the bottom of the society or re-enroll and try to finish high school again. There are also those graduates who passed the assessment and will go directly to work. They will find their place in the medium level of society; their domains and familiar servants gave them an unfair advantage over those who have none of the above.
Those at the high level of society are those who graduated college and converted their divine spark into a true god's divine fire. Just slightly below them are college undergrads with potential.
"Good!"
His father didn't say anything more. In fact, he thought about it long ago. As early as a week ago, Chollo's familiar choice shaming his class composed of top students, had been the juiciest gossip of the community.
What's more, his employer blatantly kept reminding him of his son's less optimal choice in their company group, but he still chose to believe in Chollo, not for anything else, but just because of the stability that Chollo showed to him from childhood up to now.
After exchanging with each other a few more words, Chollo returned to his room and took out his personal domain connector.
The mobile domain connector is not like the human sized virtual pod. It is small. The thing in Chollo's hand looks is a virtual helmet called the domain connector, same as the pod, it allows quasideities and demigods to connect to their domain.
Higher-end models can be made even smaller, not much different in size when compared to ocular glasses.
However, although the helmet is bigger, the low-end model's advantage is durability, with no difference in function. After all, this kind of thing is only used as a connector by demigods.
However, just like in the previous life, the rich like to be different, so novel shapes and unique production methods of handy domain connectors can still influence the market.
Only when the divine spark becomes true fire, the divine realm located in the void can be entered directly. Though, God's only have this privilege.
Chollo lied down in his bed, and as he sank into it, the faint feeling of pulling soon appeared until he finally found himself in his domain, the Realm of Chaos.
Inside, Chollo found himself in the highest layer of the domain, looking down at the biggest, widest plane he has created.
It is said that it is only one plane, but its size is actually comparable to several planes. Similar to the Earth in total surface area, it's tall and wide atmosphere is surrounded by a cosmic bubble, the divine protective cover used to shield the entire domain from invasion.
It's just that the place is still very bare now, there is only one plane that is being populated.
Chollo entered deeper in his domain, went directly to the bottommost layer of the Immaterium.
In his view at this time, he looked down and saw that many large and small mushrooms had hatched on the deepest plane.
Humanoid-like creatures shuttled through the plane, some are big, about two and a half meters tall, carrying a gigantic circular shield made of chitinous exoskeleton. Some are not as big, only two meters, but with more defined musculature, but carrying massive boneswords as big as themselves. There are also small ones, not more than a meter and a half, but they move with unnatural speed and grace, and in their hands are slingshots made of bone and sinew.
Snotlings: The lowest-ranking creature among the Tyrant Orks, these 'little' guys are very good at cultivating mushrooms and is the basic building block of the Tyrant Orkoid ecosystem.
Those Snotlings with massive sword used them like spades as they worked together to dig deep pits, and the bigger ones use their huge shields to carry the soil outside. The smallest snotlings with slingshots act as scouts, exploring the surroundings, watching the actions of the neighboring bands of rival snotlings or just keeping a lookout for threatening disasters that keeps appearing randomly in the plane.
After the pit was dug, rival snotlings that were captured from other tribes are picked up by the shield carrying snots, were thrown down and buried into the pit together.
"Waaaaagh!"
The snotlings shouted with joy, as rival snotlings were buried alive one by one.
The one who directed all this was a huge Ork, of 3 meters tall, and 2 meters wide. Much bigger than the biggest snotling, this ork has raised an even bigger bear beside him. With a length of 5 meters, a height of 4 meters and a girth of 3 meters on four legs, the bear pretty much eclipses the smaller Ork and snotlings beside it.
Bearboy: the cavalry of the Tyrant Ork, these orks are much fond of bullying snotlings and have a tyrannical and militant heart. When there is no fight, they like to bully the snotlings, when there is a fight, they like to charge the enemy directly, atop their massive bears. Apart from bears, they also like to raise falcons and boars, growing them from the fungus that is the core of the ork ecosystem.
"It looks like only one-third of the plane has been populated, and the second two-headed ork hasn't even been born yet. This expansion rate is too slow."
He couldn't help but sigh secretly. He would never imagine that he would complain about the ork's expansion rate someday. They can come out of a bunch of mushrooms that can grow anywhere, at a short time, what's to complain about that?
They are like the most populous race in the Warhammer universe, with the exception of Tyranids. He thought that the combination of both would increase the expansion rate, but it decreased instead. In return, every orkoid that sprangs up from the fungi is much stronger, even the lowliest snotlings are much stronger than the grots from the past. Each also have their own living biomorph weapon that grows at the same rate as themselves, with the same infinite potential for growth that allows them both (orkoid and biomorph) to grow stronger with time and/or experience.
