The Return of the Princess

The Return of the Princess

"Bronzong use Gyro Ball!" Lorenz, The buff Gym Leader of the Alfornda Gym yelled as his final mon' battled against today's challenger for the badge.

"Arcanine! Hit him head-on with our most powerful Flare Blitz!" The challenger trainer yelled and threw out his arm pointing forward, his large flaming dog barking in approval before running towards the psychic-steel type Pokemon of the Gym Leader.

And with a fiery explosion and the sound of a heavy bell, the battle was over.

"Bronzong is unable to battle! The victor is Jacq from Mesagoza!" Dendra yells and lifts a flag in the direction of the young man.

"We did it Guys, Only one more badge to go," He whispers to his Pokeballs after he returns his Arcanine and shakes hands with Lorenz.

Seeing that the fight is over, I turn away from the screen in the computer room connected to the cameras around the Battle Hotel and start working on the aftermath of the battle.

Fixing the gym for challenge battles is thankfully paid for by the Pokemon League, however since the Battle Hotel is a private company that simply host's the Alfrona Gym fights, the actual fixing of the battlefield is done by us.

"Salandit Sal," Fanny says as she laid on her stomach on a nearby chair, lazing about like the lizard that she is.

"This was the third challenger this week, and it's only the first day. Must be all those Uva Academy students finishing up on their yearly treasure hunt, huh?" I tell my starter, who replies with a simple "Sal," Before changing her position of lying on the chair.

"Yeah, I'm also bored, But bored is good, it means that not much is happening, which means less work for us to do," I say as I reach toward her with my hand. intent on petting her.

She squirms weakly on her chair, trying to put in minimal effort into avoiding my hand, which ultimately leads to her defeat and subsequent capture by the claws of her devilish trainer as I scratch her head near the back of her neck where the black bandana flaps protrude.

"Landit Saaaal~" She growls weakly, almost like a purr, as her scaled body melts into the heavenly scratches and pets.

In the Kitchen of the Battle Hotel, a certain Indeedee is making sandwiches for his coworkers, assisted in his task by the young Charcadet his trainer hatched a few months prior.

"Do not burn the bread, just toast them lightly," Twiddle tells the small fire type as he watches them try and fail to warm the bread slices.

"But it's so hard, Mom makes it look so easy..." The young Charcadet says as he picks up a new slice of bread to work on.

"That would make sense, your mother is a Ceruledge, she toasts the bread while she's cutting it," The Indeedee tells him, continuing in his task of making a filling afternoon meal for the employees of the Battle Hotel.

"Now remember, Tulip is coming back from her business trip today, so I want you to be on your best behavior. Understood?" Twiddle sternly tells the young Charcadet, not taking his eyes off the spread of ingredients as he does.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

"Best behavior, yes." The fire type replies with a nod of their head, before picking up a slice of ham and placing it on the sandwich.

"Yes, best behavior, so whatever you do, don't do what our new resident Salandit would do," Twiddle says as he spreads mayo on the sandwich he was working on before adding tomatoes and cucumbers.

"Why not?" Charcadet asks, "Fanny is really cool,"

Twiddle pauses in his work and turns slowly to look at the fire type he shares a kitchen with.

"What about that slob of a poison-type seems cool to you?" He asks with no real venom in his words, simply stating it as a matter of fact.

That Salandit is not cool.

Charcadet pauses his work on the sandwiches, turning to look at the Indeedee, "She's pretty," Twiddle could give him that, but that wouldn't change his opinion.

It was well known that female Salandit seemed pretty even to other pokemon species, them both being fire-type simply made Charcadet more aware of that aspect of her species.

"Her scales are really shiny,"

Twiddle could agree that Fanny's scales were shiny and clean, but that is less on her and more on her trainer being a caring person.

He still remembers Dishon's first week at the Battle Hotel, it wasn't that long ago even, he spent a lot of his time searching on the computer for different ways to take care of Salandit, Poison types, fire types, and even how rare finding variant colored pokemon, or "Shinies" as he calls them.

So by far, the two examples given are something that is prevalent in all female Salandit, And that her trainer is good at taking care of her.

Not really enough to sell the Indeedee on why she isn't a lazy slob.

"Umm.. Eh... I think her trainer is nice?" It seems even Charcadet couldn't find a third example.

"Go back to making the sandwiches," Twiddle flatly told him before turning back to his part of the kitchen.

They them proceeded to quietly work on making the food.

"Ah, it's good to be home, isn't that right Florges?" A tan-skinned woman with short purple hair and heavy makeup said as she stepped foot into the lobby of the Battle Hotel, followed by her starter.

Ignoring the desk and the Indeedee spinning on a chair behind it, The young woman enters one of the doors leading into the Hotel part of the Battle Hotel.

As she makes her way down the corridor of the old hotel, she passes by several rooms.

From a kitchen where her mom's Pokemon can be seen making food, to a waiting room leading to the arena on the other side of the building, where her father does his duty as a Gym Leader for the town.

She passes by a room labeled "Dendra," Knowing that her childhood friend barely uses it, choosing to instead stay with her parents on the other side of Alfronda.

She stops to look at a door leading to a room labeled "Dishon," But moves on quickly after.

And lastly, she reaches a door labeled "Tulip," Followed by a small image of a flower she drew with crayons back when she was a child.

"Yes," She tells herself as she takes out a key from her purse before unlocking the door, "It is good to be home," and enters the room, followed by her Florges, and a small line of levitating suitcases.

"Florges Flor," Her starter says, and the young woman couldn't help but smile as she threw her shoes off her feet to a corner of the room, took off the blazer above her shirt, using it as a towel to wipe the sweat and makeup off her face before throwing it as well into a corner of the room without care, before dropping into the cream and purple bed laid in front of her.

And as she lay on her bed, her prim and proper look from before was replaced with the look of a teenager ready to eat junk food and binge an entire season of a show she only just learned about.

"Florges," Her fairy-type Pokemon trilled as she floated closer to her trainer, holding a remote to a gaming console in her tiny hands.

Tulip couldn't help but smile as she scooched over on her bed, making space for her Pokemon to sit next to her.

"So, what are we playing? Super Mario Galaxy or are we finishing Skyward Sword?"

That's right, the daughter of Orchid and Lorenz, Dendra's childhood friend, and the girl who will one day inherit the job of the Alfronda Gym Leader.

"No! Why did you throw that blue shell!?"

Is a gamer.
