Chapter 10: Battle Under The Moon

Chapter 10: Battle Under The Moon

“Madam, orders.”

Magnax and Janx kneeled before Kelz.

“Carry them to where our comrades are. I’ll hold them off to buy you time.”

“Yes, Ma’am.”

They picked up Roxanne and others and quickly disappeared behind the doors leading to a different room.

“What are you doing? Why aren’t you following them?”

She asked Gustav who stayed behind.

“I thought you’d need some help.”

He was all smiles.

“Do I look like I need help?”

“Well, normally I would say no but the guy who was meant to keep you in check is up there right? Plus there’s probably the city’s entire army, I think you’ll need help.”

“Even if that’s true, you’re not strong enough to back me up.”

“Well, we’ll know once we get up there.”

“…….”

“What’s wrong?”

“What are you up to? What are you really?”

Kelz’s words caused an old memory to flash before Gustav’s eyes.

Surrounded by carnage and slaughter, he stood in a sea of blood. A trembling man lay before him with tears running down his cheeks. Gustav’s gun was inches away from his face.

“What did we do to you?! Why did you have to go so far?! You’re Mexican just like us! We’re your blood and yet you can mercilessly slaughter us like it’s nothing! Women, children, even the elderly, you killed them all! Why?! For the Americans?! You killed them too! So why?!”

The man glared hatefully at Gustav.

“What the fuck are you?!”

The man was out of breath from shouting. He looked up at the deadpan Gustav. There was no emotion on the face that was stained with blood. And yet…

“Heh.”

Gustav wore a smirk. It was a smirk paired with dead eyes.

“Why are you just standing there smiling?”

Kelz asked Gustav.

“Sorry, I just remembered a fond memory.”

He patted Kelz’s shoulder.

“Don’t worry. We’re both using each other, so I just want to make sure that you don’t die on him.”

He took his hand off her and pointed above.

“Then shall we go?”

Above, Drax and Julius were standing in the yard of Kelz’s mansion.

“I’m certain she sensed our presence, so she must be coming here.”

Julius wore a bitter smile.

“This reminds me of 40 years ago.”

He placed his hand over the scar on his face.

“You survived and now you’re facing a god again. You’ve practically wasted the immortality the Lord granted to you.”

Drax chuckled.

“Shut up, I’m not dead yet.”

“A huge emphasis on the word “Yet.”

They turned their head to the mansion’s doorway after hearing a familiar voice. There Kelz stood with an unknown man by her side.

(That must be one of the Outsiders.)

Drax thought while examining Gustav.

“He looks a bit familiar…”

Julius mumbled beside him. Drax stepped forward.

“Lady Kelz, my apologies for the late visit. We—”

“Cut the crap, Drax. We all know why you’re here.”

Kelz walked down the steps at the doorway.

“There’s no need for worthless babble.”

A savage grin appeared on her face.

“Let’s go to war.”

Drax’s eyes narrowed.

“I guess you’re right.”

He lifted his hand and all soldiers readied their weapons.

“War it is.”

He swung his hand down and they rushed towards Kelz. She laughed and lowered her center of gravity.

“?!”

But before she could move, Gustav shot out from behind her. He flew straight at the running soldiers. He clenched his fists and punched out with a grin.

*BAM!*

His fist shattered a soldier’s helmet and deformed his head. The body was sent flying past Drax. With a loud bang, it burst through the gate and bounced onto the road.

“The fuck?”

He turned his head to look at Gustav.

“?!”

He had to catch a body flying at him. The soldier's face was disfigured beyond recognition. He looked in front of him again. Gustav was sending soldiers flying in every direction with swift kicks and punches.

He ducked under a blade. He swiftly broke the soldier’s wrist and took the blade. One swing and body parts floated in the air. He grabbed a gun and shot at Drax from a distance. Drax’s body flickered and the bullet fazed through him. Gustav didn’t react to missing and broke two soldiers' knees by stepping on them. He jumped and broke necks with a spinning kick. He landed and separated waists from torsos with his blades.

“What is that beast?”

Drax mumbled.

“Julius.”

“On it.”

Julius kicked off the ground and flew at Gustav. Kelz popped up blocking his path.

“My apologies.”

She was sent flying to the side by a kick from Drax. Her feet dug through the earth as she stopped herself with her arms crossed. Julius thrust his fingers at Gustav’s eyes. Gustav lifted an arm to block it. The fingers pierced through his arm and stopped inches away from his face. Gustav kicked at Julius, but he moved back to evade it.

“An outsider like you is abnormal.”

Julius flashed the blood off his fingers.

“What’s your name?”

Gustav looked at him from head to toe.

“I was wondering if everyone who came here in the past died, but looking at you I guess not.”

Gustav’s arm hung at his side.

“My name is unimportant!”

He rushed at Julius. He threw a punch. Julius ducked under it and hit him with an uppercut.

(He’s strong but he fights like a wild—)

*Bam!*

Julius’ thoughts were cut off after getting punched in the throat. He held his throat in agony. Gustav’s foot swung at his head. He ducked and blocked a follow-up kick from below. He leaped back with a hand on his throat.

“You thought I fought like an animal right?”

Gustav grinned.

“I love it when people make that mistake.”

(He tricked me with his savage display against the soldiers.)

Julius' throat healed causing him to remove his hand. He lifted both fists.

“I see that you’re a disciplined fighter. I won’t be tricked again.”

The grin on Gustav’s face grew wilder.

Kelz and Drax faced off.

“It’s been almost 50 years. Why couldn’t you let it go, Lady Kelz?”

“Let it go?”

Kelz burst out laughing. A scowl stained her face.

“I should just allow that bastard to sit on my throne? I should just let that bastard look down on me after stealing what’s rightfully mine?”

The ground cracked underneath.

“Fuck that!”

She kicked off the ground with so much force the earth moved in waves before breaking apart. Drax jumped in the air to avoid her. He jumped at least 100m. Kelz stopped and jumped after him. Drax swung his heel down. Kelz twisted her body and avoided it. She grabbed his shirt and threw him. He crashed into the mansion with a boom. Kelz landed on the ground and flew at the mansion.

*BOOM*

The front of the house was blown off and flew at her. She threw a punch and it shattered. Drax shot through the debris and kicked her in the stomach. He stomped her into the ground. Her body tore through the earth digging up the yard. Kelz grabbed at his foot. Drax kicked off her body before she could. He landed on the ground.

“?!”

He blinked and Kelz was in front of him. He bent his back so fast it cracked. Kelz’s fist passed over him with a boom. He swung his leg up at her exposed chin. She blocked it and grabbed his leg. She swung him like a doll and slammed him into the earth. She lifted overhead. He hit her with swift jabs to the face. She let go. He landed and raised her off the ground with an uppercut. He leaped after her.

“Heads up!”

He turned his head. Julius was flying at him. He caught him and landed on the ground. Kelz flipped and landed beside Gustav.

“See? I’m helpful.”

Gustav smiled at her with a bust-up face. Kelz spat out some teeth and wiped her mouth.

“At least you’re not deadweight.”

Drax put Julius down.

“I’m surprised. You’re actually having trouble.”

Julius wiped the blood flowing into his eyes.

“I just remembered who this guy is.”

“You know him?”

Julius nodded.

“Gustav Fernandez aka El Diablo De Sangre; it means the Blood Devil. Before I came here, he made a name for himself in the Great Cartel War. It became a pretty big deal because people were calling him a devil all over social media. Last time I heard, he was arrested as a war criminal.”

“That was over 40 years ago. I was freed after a few years. I work for various governments now.”

Gustav declared proudly.

“Julius, will you be able to handle him?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. I just got caught off guard since he’s so old while I still look like I’m in my 20s, it freaked me out that we’re around the same age group.”

Julius glared at Gustav.

“I’ll murder him.”

Drax smiled.

“Good.”

He looked at Kelz.

“You got yourself someone talented, but it isn’t enough to challenge the heavens!”

He kicked off the ground and rushed at them. Kelz did the same. She threw a kick. Drax punched out. Kick clashed with fist causing a thundering noise. They separated and rushed at each other again exchanging lightning-fast jabs. Meanwhile, Julius and Gustav slowly approached each other. They stared each other down while clenching their fists. They only stopped when they were inches away from each other. They silently looked each other in the eye without blinking.

“Why did you come to the island, Fernandez?”

“Why else?”

Gustav lightly slammed his forehead on Julius and locked eyes with him.

“I came to bury all of you false gods and immortals.”

Both of them punched each other simultaneously. Gustav grinned as his green shone ghastly under the moonlight.

“Don’t interfere in what doesn’t concern you!”

“I’ll do whatever the fuck I want!”
