Prologue

In the beginning there was darkness then came the stars. There in the deep darkness that was space hang an uncountable number of stars which orbited in concert to form galaxies. These galaxies in turn were strung along in great strands to form the super structures that make up much of the observable universe. It was nice and peaceful... until it wasn't.

There in a certain galaxy, inside one of its arms, and around a recently formed solar system came into being the most curious of objects; A small round rocky object covered with trees and tentacles. It was a small curious planetoid with the smallest of atmospheres yet it was just enough to support the burgeoning life on its surface. One could compare it to a terrarium whose air was held not by glass but by the sheer gravitational pull it exerted despite its small size.

Normally planetoids tens of kilometers across, much less a planetoid teaming with life forms as simple as they may be, simply don't just appear yet forces beyond understanding forced it into being. This being used to be way smaller but now its vast size dwarfs even the biggest of creatures from its previous existence. Disoriented from the new senses they gain, they hither and thither in place as they tried to find their bearing.

Things were confusing for the person turned planetoid. For one, they couldn't know exactly how they got there in the first place. Secondly, they don't know what the hell was going on and that they just know they're now something more. Third and finally, they don't know where they were.

Thankfully, they knew who they were. They were once a man living and breathing on a mundane planet named Earth. He knew who he was and what he once was. He remembered everything that he was back then in perfect detail yet for the life of him, he couldn't find the exact detail on how he got here. He once was a human, now he was a planet made of meat surrounded by a protective layer of rock while plants and insects covered his surface. Still, It wasn't all bad, he supposed.

New instincts flooded his being and he knew he was free of the grasp of the Star in the system he found himself in. He could freely modify his own gravity, bending the very fabric of space around him. His body wasn't a prison as he could freely modify things to his wishes. Thankfully he wasn't affected with vertigo with how the void stretched for untold light years around him.

He also found that his flesh could easily shift just as easily as rocks and rivers do. He was keenly aware of everything that made up him yet he wasn't overwhelmed by it. He also found he didn't have a brain in the traditional sense but rather everything that made up him that wasn't separate from his fleshy mass and stony being was partly responsible for how he could think.

These creatures on his surface might not be part of himself yet they could as well be as his mere thoughts could influence them. Watching ants march in concert before letting them go back to their lives was a mesmerising experience. This control extended further down the food chain and even down the microscopic level. Seeing the microverse, a realm normally hidden from one's eyes was eye opening. Uncountable number of microscopic beings dotted his surface and he could control every single one of them, even spawn more of them from his flesh. Knowing all of these, it was almost overwhelming and this was just him scratching the surface of what he could do.

He gained so many things yet lost so many things in turn . If he had a heart, it would have ached from the loss yet he couldn't stay there and mope. Maybe he could find them once again, maybe he could come back to where he came from. He had a lot in his disposal after all. All these new abilities are just at the tip of his fingers, or rather tentacles. Aside from that, he gained new senses as well

It was rather disorienting being able to see every inch of the sky while also being extremely aware of everything on his surface. He could sense the very fabric of space and how it bends when he forced gravity to bend to his will. He could still taste, smell and hear whenever he chooses too but he had to consciously think of doing so with his tentacles to form the necessary organs. He quickly found out how his taste was also different when, at a whim, he chose to eat one of the insects sitting flying in his rather small surface.

They didn't taste off putting, he could even eat more if he wanted too, but it was enough. It barely filled him but considering his size, that might be understandable. Still, it was a plus as he was normally a picky eater.

Speaking of hunger, he found that he was feeling a bit peckish but what can fill something his size. If he chooses to eat everything on his surface, would there be anything left? Then he found something peculiar inside of his core, there lay a large sea of something inside him. It was a shimmering pool of what could only be described as liquid energy. The flesh outside this layer felt nourished and thus he started drinking away. He drank and drank yet it filled right back up. He drank so much that he forced some of it to his surface in great kaleidoscopic geysers. This discovery got him thinking.

Curious, he reached down to himself with a tentacle and started pulling. He found himself in great pain. It was the worst idea he ever had yet he found himself regenerating and reforming. He looked at the torn flesh at his tentacles before pulling it to his surface so it could be part of him once more. He could technically eat himself but it would be a horrible experience, good to know he supposed? He could replenish himself but he wondered what it's limit was.

He stopped for a bit, letting himself be pulled around by his star. He orbited like a normal planet and wondered what he should do. He had a clear goal in mind, return to the place he called him yet he didn't know if it was the wisest choice. He changed and it was a guarantee that he would change further in his quest but he was determined. At least it gave him a clear goal in mind, as unrealistic as it may be.

So how could he achieve this goal? He needed to survive long enough to find his way back. If things like him were out there, who says they would be peaceful. He was small compared to the growing planet around him. He needed mass but not so big that it would inconvenience him.

He also needed to hone these new abilities. If he could bend space time itself, maybe he could form a wormhole but then again… he could as easily form a black hole so best he set that idea aside for now.

With those in mind, he wondered how he could achieve his first task. He looked around and realized that the answer was all around him. He was in the middle of a newly formed solar system. The planets around him were recently formed and there were still so many things floating around to eat. This was the wild west of a solar system's creation where entire planets get destroyed, smashed together, and even flung out of the system all together. He was in an all you can eat buffet.

Considering the life on him was doing fine, he could safely say that he was in the goldilock zone of this star. Well, best to make himself a proper planet and what's a better way to become a planet by clearing the local neighborhood?

With tentacles outstretched he started to pull, gathering interstellar dust and gases around him. His biosphere was bombarded with micrometeorites but only micrometeorites as anything bigger fell into his tentacles so he could pull them underground. Best to not make his creatures extinct while he grew. He was rather fond of them plus they were sort of his companions he supposed. Each speck of dust would make him bigger. He ate it all up, growing bigger as he traveled around his star. It will take some time but what did he have but time?

Things however would take a rather unexpected turn for the planet when a portal opened up on his surface just when he was in the middle of feeding. A woman then unceremoniously dropped on his surface but thanks to the think underbrush, she was relatively unharmed. Well, he could consider himself lucky that the first sapient being that stepped on his surface was a cute girl
