Wang Yu watched hopelessly as another heavenly body is being eaten away by the Great Void. No matter how powerful he is, that a single flick of his finger can annihilate planets, he was still powerless to stop this unknown existence.
The Great Void was first spotted at the space outside heavenly dragon great world. There was an asteroid belt located at that region but somehow a cylindrical void appeared in the midst of the said asteroid belt. The cultivators that were familiar with the area grew curious because this phenomena could mean an opportunity for them to reap great rewards if it happen to be a mystic realm. But contrary to what many thought, all object or any lifeform that entered the area just vanished and never returned. First they thought that all those people were somehow teleported to another dimension but millions of years have passed yet no one has returned. Also, as time passed the cylindrical space continuously grew bigger that the previous asteroid belt is no more to be seen. When it started nearing the heavenly dragon great world the whole galaxy was alarmed. There is no such terrifying phenomena recorded in the history of this vast universe. It is more terrifying than a black hole which is the worse natural occurrence. Even comparing them is not worth mentioning. Why so? Because experts from the heavenly dragon great world already made their move to stop the great void but to no result. The top expert and ruler of the heavenly dragon great world, heaven devouring dragon Zhao Tian who can devour black holes disappeared without a trace. Most probably devoured by the great void.
Now Wang Yu an Elder God naturally born from the universe, a race highest amongst all lifeforms face his impending doom, for the first time he felt despair. Unlike other Elder Gods, he is the only one who lives in the chaotic region of the universe or also known as the outer region. Here only the sturdiest of materials exist because the chaotic laws here creates pressure that will shrink all object into nothingness. The farther one goes out, the stronger the pressure while the rarest heavenly materials are common as clouds. Not many knew of Wang Yu’s existence and all who knew thought that he was born there which explains his tolerance to the region. But all of his achievements are credited to his strong desire to reach the limits of the outer region. He never cared for territory, power over many or supremacy against other elder gods. He just want to challenge this wall while the other elder gods plotted each other.
“If I have more time maybe I can see what’s behind that gray fog.” Wang Yu sigh to himself. “I can still be considered quite lucky because this great void started at the center of the universe going outwards which makes me the only living that remains.” He can’t help but to have a wry smile when thinking of these thoughts.
“But ALAS! Its now or never.” Wang Yu flew towards the gray fog at top speed. He had not done this kind of act before. Unlike today he used to thread this region slowly while circling around the region eating those heavenly materials on the way to nourish his body and with the help of the pressure his body would improve in quality. Other elder gods may not see the importance of these heavenly materials because they thought their bodies are the most perfect of all lifeform and eating these will bring them no benefits at all. They are just too afraid to try something that can bring them death.
Given that he is quite adept with the current pressure level Wang Yu’s purpose is to gain enough momentum so that when he arrive at a point where the pressure levels increase drastically even when his body starts to crumble his speed would be enough for him to reach the fog considering there was still left of him. This is a huge gamble but compared to taking it slowly and upgrading his body further will give him no chance od survival at all because the great void will out run him.
SWOOOSH! Like diving in the water his speed slowly decreased while his form slowly shrunk. While he continued to be propelled forwards the pain he was bearing is much worse than he ever felt before. He wanted to grit his teeth but he was doing it before he thought so because his whole body tightened that even breathing is impossible to do. Thus he lost consciousness unawares of what’s happening anymore. Even a atom of his body is now nowhere to be seen when he reached 100m away from the gray fog but a tiny fragment of a soul reached and passed through the fog several seconds later.
Deep in Wang Yu’s consciousness, Wang Yu is sleeping peacefully.

“I never felt this tired before, is this the feeling of death?” This words came out from his mouth through murmuring while asleep. Realizing that he was still able to speak this jolted him awake. Soon he felt his energy coming back although he felt so weak it was enough to let him check his current condition.
“I can’t feel any of my limbs, maybe because I was reduced to my soul form.” As Wang Yu speak of this he soon heard cries of a woman calling unto him. He couldn’t understand any word she spoke except she was calling his name “Yu’er, Yu’er”. Although he doesn’t recognize her voice, he felt warmth with a tinge of pain building inside his chest. Then he felt the beating of his heart and the flow of blood rushing to his brain. His eyes slowly opened and the first thing he saw was the face of a crying middle aged woman. As soon as he saw her face, memories flooded unto him. Not his memories but rather this other person’s memories. He never forgotten his own memories to begin with but rather acquired another. Wang Yu knew many things in the vast universe but emotion is least he has knowledge or experience about. He was curious in various things but he never really cared about other existence. The fact in front of him clearly shows that he now has someone he cared for, which is proven by the tears streaming down his eyes when he remembered everything. Although not truly his memories, it lives within him like he was actually this person.
“Yu’er you finally woke up. I was worried that I will never see you open your eyes once again.” Wang Yuwei sobbed as she touched the cheek of her son.
“Everything will be alright now mom.” Wang Yu replied. Yuwei was happy to see of how calm his son was despite just waking from a comma. This gave her new hope for their future.
“Mom how long was I unconscious?” Wang Yu asked.
“It’s almost been ten years, in fact tomorrow will be your father’s death aniversar…” Yuwei honestly answered her son’s question but remembered that doesn’t know anything yet, so she suddenly cut her sentence but it was too late because she said it already. She thought that this news will shock her son but Wang Yu replied “Next year I will definitely come with you mom to visit fathers grave.” He was sad with his families circumstance but he already accepted everything.
“Mom I need to rest now.” Wang Yu said while closing his eyes.
Moments later medical staffs came to the room and check on him. They asked his mother questions about the behavior of the patient when he woke up.
Wang Yu just let them do their work while pretending to sleep. He was busy thinking how to recover faster. Although his soul is badly damaged but his consciousness is still strong enough to inspect his body condition. With just a mortal body he can easily recover fully but the problem is the absence of Immortal energy. He was quite knowledgeable of a mortal world’s resources. And this particular mortal world where technology thrives, it’s almost impossible to find a place where there are immortal veins that nourish the land to make it appropriate place for cultivation. Although there is a chance for heavenly resources to appear but it’s very rare to happen.
Wang Yu look down on the medical practice of this kind world, instead of curing completely their ways leave hidden wounds or lead to other complications.
As Wang Yu racked up his brains to think of a way to ensure his full recovery he’s also listening to the conversation of the doctor and his mother, “Madam the medical world has made a great breakthrough this past decade thanks to this virtual reality game called Immortal Heroes Online. Together with this technology and our physical therapy, persons with nervous condition will only take a few months to recover. Especially in the case of your son that has been in a comatose state for almost ten years. For him to wake up clear headed and able to speak is a miracle. So I suggest to let your son undergo this program.”
“I understand, Doctor please do everything you can to help my son.” Yuwei replied hurriedly.
“Don’t worry Madam this program since it’s first introduced till this day has a one hundred percent success rate. And your son’s condition is much better that expected. For him to speak straight right away indicates he didn’t suffer any brain damage. Moreover this game have proven to improve physique of its players and some even gained superpowers.”
“I think I have heard of this game before, I think my niece plays it as well.” Yuwei was astounded my the doctor’s words. She thought that Xu Ling’s enthusiasm with that game was really to better herself, not just being lazy playing some game to pass time.
“I can tell that its popularity isn’t exaggerated, even I at my age started playing it but it seems its effects on older people is not much compared to the young ones.” The doctor said embarrassingly.
The doctor added, “ Madam your son is still young so he should be fine.”
As Wang Yu listened to their conversation, he thought to himself, “ This should be an Inheritance left by a major power disguised as some game. For him to put it in a lowest of the low mortal world, He must be hiding some kind secret within it. Whatever his reasons are, this is a good opportunity for me. But for now I really need some rest.“
