Chapter 1

This is my first Jelsa and crossover fanfic. After watching Rise of the Guardians for the first time, I thought Elsa and Jack Frost would be a perfect match for each other. What is ironic is I saw Frozen before I saw Rise of the Guardians. Chapter 1

Queen Elsa was at her desk, browsing through the assorted parchments with efficiency. The Snow Queen was humming to herself as she analyzed the upcoming projections for the kingdom this coming autumn. Documents for the harvest and trades needed review.

One year had passed since Elsa accidentally froze Arendelle. Anna had recently turned nineteen, and despite some mishaps, the birthday party for her younger sister had been a success. The Ice Queen unfortunately came down with a bad cold, and though Elsa felt remorseful she was not healthy for Anna's birthday, the princess was not upset. Instead, Anna said getting to take care of her big sister was the best birthday present she could ever ask for.

At first, Elsa had a hard time keeping up with everything she needed to do as queen of Arendelle, but over time, she quickly learned how to get her work done more thoroughly and efficiently.

As she continued to examine each document, Anna entered. Elsa ceased humming and set the document down on her desk.

"Hi Anna. What brings you in here?" Elsa asked.

"Hey Elsa! Just thought I'd stop by and see what you were up to," Anna replied.

"I have been looking through documents. It is my job to make sure everything is in order," the Snow Queen stated. "How is Kristoff doing?"

"He's doing good! Kristoff is in the stables with Sven as we speak," the princess responded with a smile.

"That is good to hear," Elsa beamed.

There was silence for a moment before Anna broke it. "You know, Elsa? I've been thinking."

"Thinking about what?" Elsa wondered.

"You've been Queen of Arendelle for a year now. Haven't you thought about taking a vacation?" Anna asked.

Elsa scoffed. "A vacation? Anna, I am the queen. With how busy I am, there is no way I will be able to take any time off."

"Of course, you can, Elsa. Even a queen needs a reprieve from her duties from time to time," Anna said.

"I am not sure about that, Anna. The only time I really took off was when I was in the mountains last year. Besides, if I were to take any time off, how long could it be without falling too far behind on my work?" Elsa asked.

Anna pondered for a moment. "Maybe a week?"

Elsa's eyes widened. "A week? Anna, that is too much time off. I cannot do that!"

At that point, Anna was beginning to get stern. "Yes, you can, Elsa. If you keep working on sorting those documents every day for the rest of your life, you'll never get a chance to truly have fun and get away from real life stuff. A vacation is exactly what you need. That way you can come back feeling refreshed. Maybe you could read some of your favorite novels or something."

Elsa stared at her little sister for a moment. Perhaps Anna was right. Maybe Elsa could use some time off from her queenly duties so she could return from her trip rejuvenated.

However, what the Ice Queen was unsure about was where she should go for her vacation.

"I guess you are correct, Anna," Elsa accepted before she inquired, "Where would I even go for vacation?"

"You could go back to your ice castle in the mountains to escape the summer heat. Just have some fun and relax while you are up there," Anna suggested.

"It has been very hot lately," Elsa admitted. "Anything that is important can be taken care of by Gerda and Kai, or you."

Anna smiled as she clapped her hands excitedly. "Now that's the spirit! Here, I can help you pack!"

The princess dashed out of the room. Elsa could not help but shake her head and giggle as she followed her sister to her bedroom.

Anna entered Elsa's bedroom with a big grin on her face. It made her happy she was able to enter her big sister's room. For a year, there had been no locked doors or rejections.

The Snow Queen entered her room to see Anna browsing through her wardrobe.

"No clothes please," Elsa stated.

"What?" Anna inquired, a look of confusion on her face. "Elsa, why don't you want to bring any clothes with you? It wouldn't be a good idea for you to wear that for an entire week straight."

"I would only like to take one bag with me, as I can only carry so much at once," Elsa replied. "I can just pack whatever I will need for the trip."

"What will you need?" the princess asked.

"I could take some of my favorite books to read," Elsa responded.

"Okay. Maybe you should take a few clothes just in case?" Anna wondered.

Elsa sighed. "I guess you will not let me get away with this?"

"You've got to bring something, Elsa. Besides, there might come a situation where you will need it," Anna said.

"Very well, but I most likely will not use it, just so you know," Elsa replied.

"Which is why I said just in case," Anna stated with a laugh. "I also suggest bringing a blanket with you."

"I do not get cold, Anna," Elsa sighed.

"Yes, I know, but you might need a cushion if you sit on a hard surface," the princess replied.

"I guess you are right about that," Elsa responded with a giggle.

"I'm just trying to make sure you are well prepared for your journey," Anna smiled before adding, "You will need something to eat as well. We wouldn't want you to starve on your trip."

Stolen novel; please report.

"It looks like we did not exactly think this through," the Ice Queen sighed. "I was also thinking of bringing some books. While I am up in the mountains, I would like to read a little bit."

"Okay! Should we inform Gerda and Kai before you leave?" Anna asked.

Elsa nodded. "Yes. We shall let them know before I head up into the mountains."

After the sisters told Gerda and Kai about Elsa going on vacation, the two sisters were now outside, overlooking the fjord. Elsa remembered the last time she headed into the mountains. The Snow Queen had accidentally caused an eternal winter over Arendelle while she was running across the fjord. Anna later informed Elsa about what happened.

Now, everything was different. The Ice Queen now had full control over her powers, and both sisters were smiling at each other as Elsa prepared for her departure.

"Now I am wondering how you will get to your ice castle. Will you just travel on foot the entire way? It will take a couple of days for you to arrive at the North Mountain," Anna explained.

Elsa gave her sister a reassuring smile. "Do not worry, Anna. I know my way up there," she said before replying with a smirk, "Besides, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve."

Anna laughed before she hugged Elsa. "Hope you have a great time, Elsa. I'll see you in a week!"

"I will see you in a week, Anna," Elsa replied with a smile before she began to walk across the water. After the first step, she broke out into a full sprint as patches of ice appeared each time her foot touched the water. Rather than freeze the fjord, the patches of ice melted.

Elsa noticed some ships and waved to the sailors on them. The sailors grinned as they waved back and said hello to her.

Once Elsa was on the shore, she began to hum to herself as she made her way up the mountainside.

OoOoOoOoOoO

Jack Frost was flying across the snow-covered mountaintops, breathing in the refreshing scent of the warm summer air before him.

He flew around a little more before he saw what looked like a shiny structure. Deciding to see what it was, he got closer to get a better look.

Jack froze in place as his eyes widened in awe and wonder at what stood before him. It was a castle made purely of ice.

"Whoa!" he whispered, thunderstruck. He tightened his grip on his staff as he took off towards the ice castle.

"This is just amazing," he spoke out loud. "I wonder who or what built this?"

He started to inspect the white, blue, and violet colors within the ice. Jack flew around to the entrance of the ice castle and landed at the base of the staircase. He walked up the steps, one of his hands on the rails. Once he reached the top of the stairs, he gently ran a hand over the carved snowflake door handle.

Jack then knocked on the door, and to his surprise, it opened. However, there was no one there.

Curious, Jack entered the castle. He saw a frozen fountain ahead and stairs leading up.

"Whoever made this sure did a magnificent job," Jack stated with a big grin on his face.

He could not help but wonder if anyone lived here. "Hello?" he called. "Is anyone here?"

Jack explored the castle, finding numerous rooms with furniture made of ice.

After he reached the top of the stairs, Jack frowned. Before him were numerous jagged spikes and a shattered chandelier.

"Who could have done this?" Jack wondered. "Something terrible must have happened here."

He waved his staff over the area, which made the jagged ice disappear and become smooth. The chandelier returned to its rightful place on the ceiling.

The broken railing on the balcony was repaired. Once Jack was done, the castle had returned to its former glory.

"This is better," Jack beamed, satisfied with his work. He gazed around the phenomenal shapes the ice was forming around him. "Now this is ice."

Jack walked over to the balcony, enjoying the view before him. He looked around and saw the surrounding mountains and forests before him. Jack grinned at the view.

He looked down and could make out what looked like some buildings. Jack looked a little closer and saw far below him was a kingdom, surrounded by a fjord. Beyond the fjord, outside the mountains, was the open sea.

Jack wondered what the kingdom was called and how the people living there were. He had no doubt they were amazing people.

However, Jack frowned as he realized most, if not all, of the people in the kingdom did not believe in him. He was not sure if any of the people might have even heard of him.

Jack turned around and went back into the castle. He went back down to the entrance hall and smiled. This ice castle was unlike anything he had ever seen. Perhaps he could stay here for a while.

Jack gripped his staff, and an idea came to his mind. He created ice sculptures of his fellow guardians. He first created a sculpture of Santa Claus, then the Tooth Fairy, followed by the Easter Bunny, the Sandman, and finally one of himself.

"There. I think my fellow guardians would love these!" Jack exclaimed.

OoOoOoOoOoO

Elsa was running up the mountainside, a smile on her face. Last year, she was running up the mountain, attempting to keep everyone safe. This year, she was running through the snowless forest, excited to see her ice castle again. She was certain she would see snow where her ice castle was, as the North Mountain was the tallest mountain in Arendelle. With how tall the mountain was, it was snow-covered year-round.

As the Snow Queen ran, she saw the sun would begin to set soon. Elsa hoped to reach her ice castle before it got too dark out. Not only would it be difficult to see, but there were also wolves in the forest at night.

The Ice Queen remembered about the story of when the wolves chased Anna and Kristoff through the forest while they were traveling to the North Mountain. She hoped she would not have to encounter any wolves.

Thankfully, Elsa soon arrived at her ice castle. With the sun's position in the sky, she felt there was about an hour and a half before darkness would set in.

Smiling, she approached the icy staircase. Before she could reach the staircase however, snowy boulders situated at the base of the staircase rolled and revealed a familiar ice monster: Marshmallow.

Marshmallow glared down at Elsa and roared at her. Unfazed, Elsa looked at the snow monster with a raised eyebrow.

"Now, Marshmallow, I remember creating you to be better than that," she said with her arms crossed.

Marshmallow paused and looked down at her, carefully inspecting to see who it was. Upon realizing it was his creator, Elsa, the snow monster smiled sheepishly.

"Now that is better," Elsa stated with a nod of approval. "I am certainly happy you are here to help protect the ice castle. Just so you know, I will be staying here for a few days."

Marshmallow nodded in acknowledgement before he went back to the base of the staircase and made himself into snowy boulders again.

Elsa grinned when she saw the valley and the surrounding mountains and forests before her. She then saw some steam rising from a building below.

"Wandering Oaken's Trading Post and Sauna," Elsa said out loud. She remembered getting the medicine from Oaken to help with the cold she caught on Anna's birthday. While the medicine did not help her at first, it did help her feel better eventually. Elsa felt if it had not been for the medicine, it would have taken longer for her to recover from her cold.

The Snow Queen made her way up the staircase. Once she reached the top, she opened the doors to her ice palace. What Elsa saw made her gasp in surprise.

Standing before her were five icy statues.

"I do not remember making any of these," Elsa stated.

OoOoOoOoOoO

Jack Frost was relaxing on the icy bed when he heard the palace doors open. Wondering who it could be, he left the bedroom and made his way to the entrance.

Once he saw who entered, his eyes widened in awe. Standing near the entrance was the most beautiful person he had ever seen. She had long, platinum-blonde hair braided on her left side, and a majestic blue ice dress.

He saw that she was shocked at seeing the ice statues before her.

"I never got a chance to do any of these before I was dragged out of here and into the dungeon," Elsa said.

Jack Frost's eyes widened in shock. Someone had imprisoned her? What on Earth could she have done to justify such an action? Although Jack knew she could not see him, he sensed she was not one to commit horrendous deeds.

Jack watched her move closer to the statues and examine them.

"I have to admit, whoever created these certainly did a great job," she said before she turned her attention to the first statue.

Jack smiled. He liked the way she praised his work on the statues.

"That must be Santa Claus. He delivers presents to everyone on his nice list every Christmas Eve," she stated, moving on to the next statue. "The Tooth Fairy. She collects children's teeth and leaves gifts for them."

She then inspected the next two statues of the Easter Bunny and Sandman. Finally, she reached the last statue.

"Jack Frost," she stated. "I remember reading about you in one of my childhood books. This is what I imagined you would look like."

"I am glad you like my statues," Jack replied with a smile as he moved closer to her.

She screamed and whirled around, her hands coming up to defend herself. The Snow Queen stared at him, now anxious and guarded.

Jack immediately backed away from her, eyes wide. "Wait? You can hear me?" He realized he had his hood on. Thus, he removed it. "Can you see me?"

"Who are you and how did you get in here?" Elsa demanded.

Jack Frost blinked.

"I am Jack Frost. The real Jack Frost. Not just the sculpture I created," Jack replied.

Elsa's eyebrows rose. "You built these?"

Jack Frost only nodded.

The Snow Queen took a few cautious steps towards him. "You are really Jack Frost? I am not dreaming?"

Jack smiled at her and winked. "The one and only. As I was flying by, I saw the ice palace and thought I would take a look at it. I must say this is magnificent."

Elsa could not help but smile at the praise he was giving her.

"What is your name?" Jack Frost asked.

"I am Queen Elsa of Arendelle," she answered.

Jack Frost's eyes widened. "You are a Queen?" He immediately bowed before her. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Your Majesty."

Elsa laughed. "Please rise, Jack. You can call me Elsa."

"That is certainly something I can do," Jack Frost replied with a grin.

"May I ask you something, Jack?" Elsa wondered.

"Sure, go ahead," Jack responded curiously.

"Are you a spirit or something?" the Ice Queen asked.

Jack nodded. "I am a spirit. Only those that believe in me can see me. I am invisible to everyone else."

"How did you become a spirit?" Elsa asked.

"It is a long story," Jack replied before adding, "You might find it kind of strange to be honest."

"I understand. My story is kind of strange as well," the Snow Queen said.

"Who would like to share their story first?" Jack asked with a smile.

"I do believe you just volunteered yourself, Jack," Elsa replied with a giggle.

Jack groaned good-naturedly before he chuckled. "Very well then."
