Chapter 1

The world flashed alight in Frey’s vision, flashed brightly in colours one could only explain as a rainbow puking all over him. A cascade of beautiful hues assaulting his vision in such a vicious fashion that comparing it to rainbow puke did not do it justice.

It would not be so simple, though. For once the rainbow puke of colours abated, he was met with the sight of endlessly green, hilly fields. The kinda green hilly fields one only see’s on postcards, or on a particularly old windows background.

Frey stared at the sight, his groggy, unpowered brain still slowly trying to process the sudden flash of rainbow colours. At the moment, it was not capable of giving Frey an explanation, any explanation, any thoughts. Instead, it half-way still believed it was within the confines of his small dirty apartment, drugged out of its mind and probably just staring out of his single story window.

Yeah, that must be it. I'm just really high. Frey thought with a sad look on his face. Thoughts slow and crunchy, almost as if pushing through molasses. Interrupted as someone spoke in a deep, bassy, booming voice.

“Welcome otherworlder, to the tower of Embla. Your journey of a million steps starts now.”

The booming voice stated behind him, sounding as if reading aloud from a script. Oddly monotone, yet more deep and powerful than any radio broadcaster’s voice. A voice that shook Frey’s brain awake from its stupor. Wondering who, and what tower he was talking about-

Oh, that tower. Frey thought, spotting the humongous, gigantic, stupidly big, ginormous, overwhelmingly huge and looming tower that seemed to defy all known and defined laws of gravity. Plowing straight up and through the clouds far, far above. Even plowing on and into space itself. Its base thicker than any building he’d ever seen or heard of before. It had no detailed carvings or anything that might make it distinguishable, not even any windows. Instead, it simply looked like a vast blackness stretching far, far above.

Though, a bit further down, it did have a massive gate with equally massive steps leading up to it. The gate was so massive in fact, that it would not surprise him if one could stack several trucks on top of one another and still fit them through the gate. And on the gate, there was an epic drawing of a big, hot, and quite spectacular lady.

Then Frey noticed the man, or big man, the bald man, the man-man. He was huge, both in width and height, muscles more defined than on any modern body builder whilst at the same time, staying perfectly slim. Also sporting a head full of black hair with eyes that seemed impossibly grey, practically glowing within their respective deep eye sockets. Frey blinked at the sight, assuming that this dude was what a Greek god must look like.

And as Frey stared up at the Greek god, the Greek god stared back, his foot tapping away impatiently. Waiting for any validation that Frey was listening to him, or was conscious and amongst the living. Something that Frey had a hard time figuring out himself, staring up at the probably two-meter-tall-probably-taller Greek god. The tower looming behind him, arms placed firmly and rigidly on each side of his hip, standing in a very superman-pose as he stared down on Frey, waiting.

The Greek god sighed, muttered something unintelligible underneath his breath, then spoke up while gesturing widely with his arm.

“Otherworlder! Rejoice, for you have been summoned to the tower of Embla! A true blessing from God! But our God know’s that not everyone wants to challenge this, ahem, merciless tower! And therefore, is not without mercy. You will have a choice. Either you return to your own world, or you try your luck and climb the tower of Embla.”

He paused, for dramatic effect, speaking in a monotone that would rival a door-to-door salesman. Frey staring slack jawed at him, mouth slightly agape and blinking slowly, looking kinda slow, maybe even stupid, and lost.

The Greek god shook his head at the sight, muttering something unintelligible again, before he spoke louder and clearer.

“If you so choose to climb this tower of Embla, you will be faced with challenges only your dreams could be capable of conjuring up! Enemies of different make, of strength one could impossibly believe!”

A short pause. Again, for dramatic effect.

“And, if you so choose to climb this tower and defeat all it's denizens. You will be granted one wish. One wish with the power to choose, anything. Anything in your wildest dreams. Any wish of your choosing.”

The Greek god stared down on Frey, whom stared up with a glazed look in his eyes. Ignoring Freys’ inability to speak, the Greek god continued on.

“But how shall you climb this perilous tower, you might think? Fret not dear otherworlder, for you shall be blessed with any weapon of your choosing. Any weapon your fantastical brain can conjure up. A small wish, if you are so inclined to be, wishful.”

Frey opened his mouth ever so slightly more. But not from the Greek god’s words, he hadn’t listened to them, but upon spotting the massive shimmering sword strapped to the back of the Greek god. Or, more accurately, the hunk of metal that was vaguely shaped into a sword with its small handle sticking up and above the Greek god’s head. Impossibly shiny, whilst looking sharper than even those Japanese kitchen knives. Two small wooden statues were hanging off of the small handle, one shaped like the Greek god, the other of an unknown woman.

Then the Greek god words registered in Frey’s brain, and he blinked slowly, numbly, looking rather stupid, stupider now that he exposed his pearly whites to the Greek god in a confused, slack-jawed manner. The Greek god, yet again, exhaled at the sight, closed his eyes whilst pushing two thick fingers onto the bridge of his nose, speaking with a heaviness that seemed to hold a heft to it.

“You can enter the tower, fight enemies with a chosen weapon, pretty much any weapon you want. And if you get to the top of the tower, successfully, God will grant you any wish. Do you understand?”

Frey’s eyes opened larger at this, mouth hanging even further down as he took a deep breath, sounding like a realization had come upon his still groggy brain.

“Weapon?! Wish?! Weird tower climb it up high-high. Get a bitch?”

“Yes otherworlder, you will- uuu, wh- bitch?”

”Sorry, I’m not really thinking straight. Give me a second to decompress.”

Frey suddenly spoke, his entire dumbfounded posture going thoughtful, slightly bright. A certain philosophical statue coming to mind as Frey pushed his arms towards his face, rubbing at his stubble of a beard. The only thing missing, a big rock to plant his leg on.

The Greek gods earlier mute numbness, his earlier neutral facade, faded to be replaced by confusion. Staring down on the otherworlder whose first words were of, bitch? Wondering if he was speaking to a madman.

Minutes passed in awkward silence as Frey thought thoughtfully. The Greek gods’ surprise turning into unwilling patience, tapping away with his foot on the grassy ground. Frey not noticing, or maybe ignoring. Tapping away with his own foot, and hand, increasing in rhytmn and speed as the minute passed. A conclusion quickly becoming apparent in Frey’s mind, a singular reason for his sudden teleportation, his sudden whisking away, his kidnapping.

Turning up with a beaming smile on his face, Frey practically screamed as he suddenly jumped forward towards the Greek god.

“Have I been isekaied?!”

Frey shouted his conclusion into the Greek god’s face. Whom leaned a little back at the suddenness of Frey’s exclamation and proclamation, taking a second to answer. Answering with.

“What? Ice-n-kied?”

“No-no not ice-n-kied, but isekaied, you know, taken from one world to another!” Frey exclaimed with a lecturing tone, still sounding excited.

“Oh, uhm. Well, yes, did I not say so? God has chosen you to traverse the tower of Embla, or go back home if you so choose. But yes, you’ve been, uh, ice-e-kied?”

“Holy fucking shit! That’s awesome! Oh my god, is this a gamer isekai? Or a survive and grow stronger isekai? Oh shit, I really hope this isn’t grimdark, that would be kinda bad. I’m not ready to lose an arm yet. Wait, tower? Climb? Oooo-ooo, so this is a “get higher up and get more power” type of isekai? Right? A lot of political intrigue n-stuff?”

Frey rambled on quickly, excitedly staring around and then up at the Greek god man. Eyes like a puppy waiting for its treat. The Greek god looking mildly confused, mildly concerned, one brow raised above the other, one of his arms leaving his hip and scratching a little uncomfortable at the back of his head before opening his mouth to speak.

But Frey quickly interrupted by pointing with a finger up into the air, eyes lighting up as if realizing something.

“WAIT! You said I could wish for any weapon. You mean like right now?! ANYTHING?!”

Still with an opened mouth, the Greek god blinked weirdly, staring down at Frey. Blinking a few times more before responding with a solemn “Well, yes, but I said-”

“Seriously? Can I get a sword that spews fire? Or like, a bow that fires as fast as a machine gun?”

“Machine gun?” The Greek god asked weirdly.

“Machine gun! I want a machine gun!” Frey stated excitedly.

The Greek god gave Frey a queer look, then shrugged his shoulders whilst saying. “Maybe.”

“Maybe? Didn’t you say I could get anything?”

“Not exactly. Weapons with the power to destroy the tower would be off-limits, also weapons that would give you an unfair advantage are also a no.”

“Uh-huh. So only boring things then?”

“Otherworlder, climbing the tower isn’t supposed to be fun. It’s supposed to be a challenge, making the conquest ever so sweeter when one manages to get to the top and be granted their one wish. The wish is only for those who are worthy. Do you see people worthy if they can just, stroll on through without a care in the world?”

“Well, it would make me very happy.”

“The tower doesn’t care about your happiness”

“Then this is a shitty tower.”

“Otherworlder, don’t speak-“

“Frey”

“Huh?”

“Frey, my name. It’s weird being called otherworlder. I mean, I’m a person, not some-thing. Like, I don’t call you Greek god or anything.”

“Greek god?”

“You’kno, the old Greek gods, all powerful and all horny people… Gods, I mean.”

“No… No I can’t say I have heard of them. And they do not sound very, godly.”

“Oh no, they aren’t. Godly I mean. Especially that Zeus guy. Did you know he raped Medusa, and when his wife learned about it, she grew angry at Medusa for Zeus raping her? I mean, the wife got angry at Medusa. And as an act of, I guess, revenge? She, the wife, sent like this, powerful guy to kill her because she was raped. I think, maybe. I don’t really remember the story that well. But those Greek god’s man, shitty people… Shitty gods I mean.”.

The Greek god let his brow fall, crossing his arms as a small smile crept up on his face.

“And you compare me to one of these gods?”

“Yeah, cuz you look like- wait. Oh shit, no, I’m not assuming you rape people for the hell of it. You just look like one of them. No offence, or I mean, full offence, considering every guy wants to look like a Greek god. I mean, Greek gods are like, super good looking.”

“They are? Your world seems very, confusing, otherworlder.”

“Frey” Frey quickly added.

The Greek god simply nodded.

“But yeah, it is. BUT! Just so you know, I’m not one of those people. One of those people that want to look like a Greek god. I’m perfect the way I am. I’d even say I’m kinda sexy, hot even, hotter than a Greek god. Wanna see my abs?” Frey said confidently, grabbing at the hem of his shirt while slowly pulling it up.

“Oh? Your world’s standards must be very low” The Greek god responds back with a raised eyebrow, looking down on Frey’s barely exposed stomach.

“Yeah, I’m kinda-… wait.. They must be what now?! How dare you speak to me like that? How dare you?! I want to speak to your manager!” Frey shouted back, taking a step forward, pointing an accusatory finger up at the Greek god, eerily close to the Greek god’s nose.

The Greek god reacted warmly to Frey’s anger, opening his arms wide as he took a step back and to the side, giving Frey a better view of the tower that was impossible to miss, one finger pointing towards it.

“That’s excellent, even wonderful to hear. For my “manager” resides at the very top of this tower. A tower full of challenges, glory and fame. Successfully climb it, and you will find that even your deepest desires will be within your grasp.”

Frey’s earlier “anger” immediately subsided, fading into one of curiosity. Leaning in close with clasped hands, fingering them greedily as his eyes scanned the Greek god for lies.

“I get what now?”

“Climb the tower, and any desire you could ever dream of shall be yours.”

“Any?”

“Yes”

“Any?!”

“Yes!”

“But only if I climb the tower?!”

“Yes!”

“AND WHAT WILL I FACE IN THE TOWER?”

“Challenges!”

“And when I beat them, I will get what now?!

“Any wish that you desire!”

“ANYTHING I WANT?!”

“YES! OTHERWORLDER! YES!”

“I’LL GET SO MANY BITCHES!”

“YES OTHERWORLDER! YOU CAN GET- No wait, what?”

The Greek god visibly deflated at the sudden statement, confusion mixed with exasperation.

Frey, though, not so much. Smiling even wider than before, practically salivating, speaking up with more than a glimmer of greed hidden in his voice.

“No, not many, BUT I’LL GET ALL THE BITCHES!”

Glimmer turning to a spark, turning into a forest fire, the fire being Frey’s greedy eyes. The Greek god shaking his head in dismay, placing a palm upon his forehead in a pose that could only be replicated by any fourth placed person in a race. Frey pumping his fists happily into the air, not caring an iota about the obvious disdain the Greek god showed.

Seconds passed in celebration before Frey calmed down, his mind realizing an important detail, a missing puzzle piece to a puzzle one had already spent hours upon hours of tearful screaming to solve.

“Wait. You said something earlier about, getting any weapon I want, right?”

“...Yes” The Greek god said unsurely after a few moments of staring, feeling the sudden change in excitement quite jarring.

“Then, can I get my machine gun?”

“I do not know what that is, so I can’t say. But before you-“

“Come on man, Greek god man, man-man, gimmie some of them juicy weapons. I know you be hiding it somewhere within that thick bossom of yours.”

“…My what?”

“Well, where else would you hide those “any weapon I want” stuff.”

“Obviously, God will provide, if they see fit. But before you get-“

“So, you mean like, a Greek god- not you- will come down to earth and give me the weapon I want? Then give me my machine gun!”

“… Otherworlder, you’ll understand soon if you’ll get your “machine gun”, but first-“

“Come on maaan, give me my-“

The Greek god quickly raised a hand, pushing it out and dangerously close to Frey’s mouth, shutting him up with the sheer speed of the move. Taking Frey completely off-guard as he pulled his head back and raised his two arms up in a defensive posture.

The Greek god sighed, before saying rather quickly and tiredly.

“Please, let me finish speaking.”

He stated simply, looking down on Frey between eyebrows. Frey slowly letting his arms drop as he whined.

“Ffffine… But only because I’m nice.”

The Greek god looked unimpressed, raising both of his eyebrow in response as he also dragged his hand back. A small silence emerging, the Greek god staring at Frey expectantly. Frey kicking a loose pebble, leaning back and forth on his heels as he waited.

“I need your-“

“Do you hide guns in your ass?”

Frey intervened with a smirk, staring up at the tall Greek god with his arms crossed, raising his own eyebrow up and down, up and down. The Greek gods staying still, unimpressed and unamused, staring down at Frey.

Not getting more of a reaction, Frey stopped and said.

“Sorry, my mouth slipped. You were saying?”

“I need your consent before you can receive your-“

“Consent? Are you trying to fuck me?”

“…No, otherworlder, I need your verbal consent if you want to climb the tower or not.”

“Oooooh, that makes more sense. Of course I want to. Do you think I’m stupid or something?”

“…”

The Greek god stared incredulously at Frey, whom stared back with a very sincere questioning look. Silence as the two stared at one another, no one backing down, staring without blinking, looking like lovers on a tranquil sea. Something that Frey didn’t miss, squirming a little, but not looking away. A smile came upon the Greek god’s face, quickly vanishing with a cough as he stated almost formally.

“Ahem. You said you wanted... a machine gun?”

“Uh, yeah?”

“Then we’ll see if God will accept that.”

“We can see? What do you mean- holy moly what is happening?!”

Frey shouted in alarm as light suddenly flooded the scene, coming from somewhere above. But when Frey turned to look, he was blinded by the light and had to cover his eyes with his arm. From somewhere within the light came a buzzing, as if a million bees had descended within the light. A crescendo of noise that seemed to grow louder and louder until.

Nothing.

“It seems your choice would give you an unfair advantage. You should take a little more time to think of a more reasonable weapon.”

“I want a sword that shoots penises at everyone coming at me!”

“You want what-“

The sudden light came back, followed by the increasingly louder buzzing. Frey staring up with a smile on his face. Or rather, trying, the light being too blinding to actually see. The Greek god also staring, but with some small part horror, some small part, curiosity.

But nothing happened.

“Uhm, your choice seems to give you… an unfair advantage? Please otherworlder, give your choice a little more time-“

“A flying sword that’s shaped like a dildo!”

“Goddammit-“

Light flooded the scene again, followed by the same buzzing that cut-off the Greek gods words.

Then nothing.

“As I said, you should give your weapons more-“

“A WEAPON TO PIERCE ANYTHING!”

Light flooded them, followed by the buzzing. Then a sort of, unlocking sound stopped the ever-increasing buzzing noise, almost like the sound from a certain game with a creature that would constantly tell one to “listen”. The light also suddenly shut off. And from the vanished light, a chest suddenly manifested with a heavy thump, falling down onto the ground with a rattle until it went, still.

A few seconds passed in weird silence as the Greek god stared weirdly at the chest, surprised that Frey had made a normal choice. Eventually, the Greek god shook himself, aware from the weird silence when Frey greedily flung himself down onto the chest, struggling to open it.

“Uhm, it seems your, very original choice was accepted. Now, grab your weapon and take your first steps on your journey up the tower!”

Frey continued struggling with the chest, his smile fading into frustration, muttering a “why would it be locked?”

“It isn’t… you have to push up the small lever thing. Yeah, like- no, no not that way, the other way. Yeah, like that.”

With a click, the chest was pulled open and within it, lay a spear. A spear that looked very normal. Frey picked it up swiftly with a new smile on his face and raised it up above his head as he giggled slightly.

“Hehehe, got ya god. I totally got away with getting a penis weapon. The dildo spear, I shall name it. Capable of piercing anything!”

He then spun the spear around, aiming the point of the spear towards the ground, and then gathered some momentum before striking it into the ground. But as he did, it easily, scarily easily, pierced the ground with no resistance. Making Frey fall to the side as his grip around the spear reflexively tightened.

But before Frey could fall and drop the spear into the ground, the Greek god took a swift step forward and grabbed Frey’s arm holding the spear. And with just one arm, held him firmly aloof, floating in place. Inhumanly strong hand with reflexes that made Frey’s brain buzz weirdly within his head. Frey turned to look, seeing that the Greek god didn’t even look slightly burdened by the feet of strength, nor the show of speed.

Feeling a bit inadequate, Frey quickly shuffled away awkwardly on his two feet, partially helped by the Greek god, partially by the butt of his new spear. Then, standing with his two feet at shoulder’s width with his back straight and looking up at the Greek god, standing in a pose that he assumed looked hella cool, he stared defiantly up at the Greek god.

“I’m still sexier than you.”

He stated assuredly. But as the seconds passed and the Greek god didn’t give Frey the desired response, instead focused on the spear, he deflated a little, then remembered where he was and asked.

“So uh, wish, huh? How do I get it again?”

This brought the Greek god out of his musings, looking down on Frey between meaty fingers, such big fingers, strong and- ahem, sorry.

A clearly unimpressed sigh floated out from the Greek god’s lips.

“As I’ve already said, if you successfully climb the tower. At the very top, you will get any wish that you desire.”

Frey’s eyes glowed at those words, speaking up with childish glee.

"Any wish? You mean like, what one gets from a genie?”

“I do not know what a “genie” is, but you will have one wish, any wish granted by God themself. Even, for a lack of better words, those “bitches” you spoke of” The Greek god responded quickly, waving his hand above his head as if trying to distance himself from the word.

But those words were like giving candy to a little kid. Frey lighting up in a wide smile, practically jumping up and down as he took his first step towards the tower.

“Then let’s go! We have a tower to conquer!”

The Greek god turned his body to let Frey walk past, brows raising, placing one big hand on Frey’s shoulder to stop him. Strength like an oxe, Frey assumed.

“Wait, is that all?” The Greek god asked, surprised.

“Whu, uh… yeah?”

“But… Aren’t you curious?”

“About what?”

“The tower!”

A second passed for Frey to process the statement, then opened his mouth wide in an “ooo” sound, nodding sagely.

“Yeah, of course I am. But I mean, I’ll know more once I start to climb it, right?” Shrugging his shoulders before flashing the Greek god a smile, a toothy smile exposing one of his canines.

Blinking, the Greek god took his own second to respond, but not from confusion, but of mild shock.

“Yes but… but you could know more, so much more, and know it now. You could learn this towers’ secrets, you could devour all that there is to know. I haven’t even told you what forces you will meet, or that you could die within it!”

The Greek god said with furrowed brows, using a pause in his sentence to let the words sink in more before speaking up.

“If you learn more about the tower, it could make every possibility of your demise reach the coveted non-existence. You don’t even know what you might face in there! So why face the unknown? Why not ask me?”

The Greek god spoke almost passionately, staring down at Frey with a strange intensity.

Frey staring back up, a frown slowly forming. “You know, I don’t like people using big words like that, especially from someone as sexy as you. It just makes others feel stupid, you’kno?”

The Greek god blinked at Frey’s response, blinked several times in an attempt to figure out if Frey was mocking him or not. And before the Greek god could speak up, Frey spoke first.

“But no, no I won’t ask for your help. And I already figured I’d have to fight things. I just assumed that you wouldn’t help or tell me anything anyway. It’s kinda a given considering you’re the doorman. I mean, if I was the doorman for a “tower that grants any wish”, I wouldn’t just, ahem, tell them a secret entrance that leads directly to the top?”

Frey said quickly, hopefully staring up at the Greek god. The Greek god staring weirdly back, blinking with grey eyes contrasting brightly with the dull brown of Frey’s, yet ignoring his unasked question. A moment that seemed too tense for Frey as he looked aside, a red hue to his cheeks.

“Don’t stare like that. You’re making me blush.”

And those words seemed to change something within the Greek god as he burst into laughter, lifting his arms to his stomach as a belly full of sound filled the air. Head flung upwards while he laughed merrily and loudly into the wide blue sky and its shining yellow sun.

A laughter that was warm and happy, a surprise laugh that one did not do, or hear often. Frey staring up with a smile of his own, nodding to himself as if he had planned to make the Greek god laugh.

A laugh that lasted for what felt like an eternity, ended prematurely. And as it ended, the Greek god wiped a tear from his eye, speaking up between bouts of miniature laughter.

“I have to say- you are the stupidest, most interesting and weird otherworlder I’ve ever met.”

“Aha, but you’ve heard of me!”

Frey quickly responded with a smile and a wink, and the Greek god shook his head in amusement before responding.

“No, no I have not.”

Frey deflating a little at that, a small frown as the Greek god didn’t understand his majestic joke. Turning around and facing the tower, he waved a little unenthusiastically as he took a big step towards it, speaking up in a low voice.

“Well, see you later, Greek god man, I’ll make sure to share some of my bitches when I get to the top.”

“I hope to see you later, otherworlder. Don’t disappoint me.”

The Greek god responded cryptically, and Frey easily ignored it, probably not even hearing it. Instead, staring forward with a new, easily formed smile. Staring forward on a gate impossibly big with stairs just as stupidly big. Far too big, he noticed as he came closer. So big, in fact, that his penis would finally look normal besides them.

Ahem, no, they were so big that he could almost barely reach the top of the first step, even with his massive height of, being very tall.

The Greek god kept his eyes on Frey’s back as he walked towards the gate and its massive stair, seeing as Frey tried to climb the first step unsuccessfully, looking like a man trying to bring one leg above the fence with little acrobatic skills, or very drunk. A scene that normally inspired dread and awe in equal measure to those who first climbed the tower, now looked oddly comedic, if not bafflingly stupid. Like looking at a toddler trying to drink out of a too big cup. Or trying to climb out of their baby crib.

Laughter came back in force, and the Greek god shouted in exasperation.

“Good luck!”

“I don’t need it!”

Frey shouted back quickly, sounding winded as he pushed with all his might in an effort to climb the first of seven steps. And after finally getting up, he pushed a hand up into the air in a pose of victory, lying on his back and staring up at the vast blue sky. The yellow sun shining down beautifully at his glorious body.

The Greek good laughing merrily at the scene, trying to calm down but chuckling as soon as his eyes caught a glimpse of Frey’s unacrobatic rump, having to sit down to breathe.

Laughter that spurred Frey on, in equal measure shame and equal measure winning over these stupid steps. As he climbed the second step, he wondered what kind of stupid god decided that only giants were allowed to enter this tower, yet had brought him here.

He was big, but not that big. Only his penis, obviously.

Then, after several minutes of clambering and falling down later, he managed to pull his way up the second step, feeling his body ungodly heavy. An unbelievable anger flared up within Frey, raising up on his rump to curse the heavens for this unfairness. Only to stop mid anger, spotting what appeared to be a ramp to his right. Raising up on his feet and walking a little closer, Frey realized that it wasn’t a ramp, but a normal sized staircase leading upwards parallel with the big stairway. And upon discovering it, he heard a new round of laughter from the Greek god. Anger replaced by shame was quickly snuffed out by cursing the stupid gods who made these stupid steps.

Not giving the Greek god a chance to get the satisfaction of Frey’s expression, Frey merely walked up the stairs and up to the gate. A gate that now being closer to, he could properly see the epic image carved into the massive gate. An image of what appeared to be a woman fighting hordes upon hordes of demon looking things.

Frey glanced at the image, from top to bottom, searching for a way to open the impossibly big gate. Stopping as his eyes saw a very odd-looking door. Or rather, it looked very normal, normal to Frey. Like any modern security door, cut into the marbled ginormous black gate. An oddity on an oddity, making the first oddity seem normal as he stared at the new oddity that wasn’t an oddity to him, but was an oddity in this new world. Frey felt confused as he pondered the mystery. But before he could get too confused, he simply shrugged and walked up to the modern-looking security door and placed a hand on the perfectly metal, and a little cold, knob.

But stopped himself from opening it. Turning around with his head to look towards the Greek god. Seeing him sitting still with a relaxed posture, facing away, looking up at the sky silently. Seemingly deep in thought. Looking hella cool, Frey realized with a hint of jealousy.

“You got the key?” Frey shouted to the Greek god. The Greek god not moving to the noise, sitting perfectly still, seemingly basking in the suns, warmth? Frey realized as he looked up and was immediately blinded by it.

“Heeellooooo?” Frey shouted while rubbing at his eyes. A shout that managed to pull the Greek god out of his apparent revery, glancing back to Frey for a second, before turning back to the sun.

“It isn’t locked.”

The Greek god shouted back, and Frey raised an eyebrow in response. Trying the knob, Frey felt it easily slide open, opening to reveal an impossibly dark room. But before he ventured in, Frey turned back again, and shouted one last time.

“Are you sure? Can’t you come here and open it for me like a good doorman?”

The Greek god didn’t turn to face Frey, opting to continue staring up, up at the sun. Yet, even from this distance, and at this weird angle, Frey noticed the hint of a smile on the Greek god’s face.

“No, I think I’ll stay here for a bit.” He stated calmly, quietly, yet loud enough for Frey to hear.

“Whatever suits your boat.” Frey commented with a shrug of his shoulder.

And with those last words, Frey turned back to the oddly normal door, and opened it fully after a few seconds of struggle. Walking into the tower of Embla and the darkness within.
