Chapter 0 - Born Ready

The mug and its contents fell to the floor during its holder's surprised daze. Edges sharp enough to draw blood and liquid started pooling around her feet.

The girl didn't seem to notice the growing mess on her floor. Her face focused solely on the TV screen on her counter. Forest colored eyes wide in order to drink in all the information being said.

"With recent advances in technology, what was once thought to only be possible in science fiction novels is now a reality. Our company, Oneleaf Tree, after investing millions of dollars and years of research, has uncovered the brains mechanics. Using only the best programmers, a game unlike anything the world has seen before came into existence."

"Freestyle. The world is in your grasps to create and become anything you'd like to. Nothing holds you back. No class is set in stone. You can learn an archer's skillset, while primarily being a mage. Or be a priest that heals your allies by punching them in the jaw. It's a world where you grasp your own wings to fly."

The commercial was simple, no animation or screenshots of gameplay were even shown. They only gave a link for more information at the end of the video.

The girl screamed. Not out of anger or anything. The scream was shrill enough to only be called something a fangirl could let out.

"Oh my god. Oh my god. Is this really happening?  I'm not dreaming this am I?" A pinch to the cheek for extra measure was done to make sure that what she saw wasn't anything that could up and disappear.

Pinching hard enough tears came to her eyes.

"I-i-i-it-its real."

Another scream echoed out of her mouth. This time it resounded loud enough the rest of the town surely heard it as well.

Once the echoes stopped, another began. Only this time instead of the lower alto of the girl in the kitchen, a silky soprano voice came instead.

"Why the hell are you screaming at this hour? Don't you know I sleep until noon on Fridays. It's only ten. Don't go waking me up! "

Following the voice, another girl came into the kitchen. Purple hair to midback framed her face. The bright color only seemed to accent the light speckles of purple hidden within her doe shaped blue eyes.

"I couldn't help if Eve. It's just-wait give me a second. "

After saying that, the green eyed girl walked closer to the TV, not caring about the injuries she got or the blood she started to track everywhere.

Her fingers flew over the bottom of the screen. After she held it there for a second, buttons appeared. Pressing rewind, she brought the commercial back to the beginning. A "watch this" was all that was muttered.

Attention no less this time, the girl watched once more. Her reactions no different even with the other girl, Eve, standing next to her.

Once the video was over Eve spoke, " You really need to learn how to express your excitement through something other than screaming. I don't think my ears can take much more of this. So you planning to play it or something?"

"Or something? Don't you know this has been my dream since I was young. My first VRMMORPG anime and mangas are something I hold dear in my heart. Playing or something doesn't even begin to describe what I plan on doing."

"Okay, crazy girl. Want some help? I've been pretty bored lately anyway. "

"You never had a choice, dear sister."

(Begin giant info dump. Sorry :p)

Wasting no time, each called up a holographic screen to look at the website link given at the end of the commercial.

During creation, twelve main races were available to players. The races being Angels, Beastmen, Demons, Divine Beasts, Elementals, Elves, Fairies, Gnomes, Humans, Orcs, and Undead. Each race then had a subrace following one of the elements, also having twelve. One of the elements being the race's main element while the other eleven were the 'subraces'.

Each element then has another one that can either complement and/or oppose it. Fire, Lightning, Metal, Water, Wind, and Wood are the six elements that can either complement or oppose each other. While Darkness and Light both complement and oppose each other. Along with Darkness and Light, three more elements both complement and oppose each other; Earth, Moon, and Sun. The last elements just exists neither opposing nor complementing the others, Life.

Due to each race having a main element, they tend to follow the Godbeast that represents their element. The Godbeasts were monsters that proved themselves so strong long ago that they are considered Gods by the weaker.

The game also had a unique class system where there actually wasn't one. You could follow any path you desired, creating your own 'class' if you so wished it.  That didn't mean you couldn't get bonuses to attributes like a warrior in a normal game gets. In order to get them though you needed a 'job'.

By going to the mercenary guild you could gain a bonus if you took being a mercenary as a job. The bonus gives extra coins per quest and an added bonus to strength. A character could have as many jobs as long as they could keep their employers happy. This being so it was recommended to not accept too many jobs as the employers might frown upon it.

Getting certain jobs also had added benefits of speeding up crafting skill's leveling.

"As I read more, I can't wait for its release. "

"Agreed. What are you going to play as?"

The girls continued searching the website, devouring all the information that was already about each race.

"I was thinking elf, but I almost always pick it. SooooOoo, I don't know if I wanna. Maybe I'll go gnome. It looks like they get a racial bonus to tailoring."

"Tailoring? Why does that matter?"

"Eve? You even need to ask............What kind of relative are you? Is obviously to make cheap gear so I can save money.  I've been deciding how I'd go about paying a virtual reality game all my life. Every coin must be well spent. "

"Don't lie Leah. You just want to be able to cosplay don't you. "

"You know me well grasshopper. So what are you thinking of doing? "

"I noticed an option where it scans you and gives you a race that matches your personality and abilities. They even have a randomizer version. I'm kinda curious about the randomizer. You think you can get a hidden race from it?"

"Sounds kinda dangerous, but if you want too, go for it. Don't come crying to me when you find yourself turned into a horribly disfigured monster though."

"Bah. Like that's gonna happen."

"Now that we know what we're gonna play, I so wanna play it right now."

"True statement. Too bad we have to wait a month. "

A huff comes out of Leah's mouth. "Don't remind me", she says  as she plops herself over the counter.  The pieces of mug and various liquids forgotten as they lay on the floor.
