Chapter 8

I woke up with the first rays of the sun filtering through the window. For the past half month since the awakening of my family's bloodline, I no longer have any trouble with the cold caused by having the window open. In fact, it's comforting, like sleeping with an air conditioner set to the perfect temperature.

I looked out the window and could see the traces of snow about to melt significantly. The plants and green grass spread across almost the entire landscape. Although much of the area is still covered in snow, it shouldn't be long before it melts completely.

After enjoying the wind coming through the window for a bit, I left my room along with Artic Sky and found Marcy in the hallway. "Young lord, good morning," Marcy said, making a small bow as she greeted me.

"Good morning."

"You seem very happy today."

"Is it that noticeable?"

"Yes, you can tell from your lovely smile."

I blushed a little at the compliment. Rarely did I receive such compliments in my past life, and if someone did, especially if it was a beautiful woman like Marcy, the first thing I would think is that she was dared to do it.

I set that thought aside and said, "Well, it's because I can't wait to receive my personal weapon," before continuing to walk with Artic Sky and Marcy, who started to follow me.

We continued walking through the hallways where we could see the servants working. When we arrived at the door that connected to the garden, guarded by two sentries, they said:

"Greetings to the young lord." The guards greeted me before stepping aside to let me out. At first, when I arrived in this world, I felt a little uncomfortable when everyone addressed me as the young lord, but I got used to it, and it's not so special since all my siblings are called the same way.

Finally, I reached the backyard, or better yet, a small forest, because there's not much difference. It's a very extensive area covered with trees and small wild animals.

I could see my siblings making a snowman with the little snow left and, at the same time, throwing a stick for their wolves to chase. Although they learned these things from me by watching, and it seemed a bit strange to them when they saw me do them for the first time, now it looks like they're having fun.

"Ziom, Marcy, good morning," said my brother Riun when he saw me.

"Brothers, good morning." I greeted all my siblings, followed by Marcy, who made a brief bow.

"Good morning, Ziom and Marcy," my sisters greeted, and Asli said, "Now that we're all here, shall we start?"

"Yes, let's finish quickly so we can get ready for breakfast."

What we're going to do is a kind of game and training for our wolves. It involves releasing a hare and giving it time to escape. After that, our wolves will start hunting it, and if they catch it, they can eat it together.

This makes them work as a team because if they don't, the hares usually escape due to their great speed. Additionally, our wolves are still very young, especially mine. They grow at the same rate as us, so even though my siblings' wolves are several years old, they still haven't become adults.

"This one is quite big," said Riun, picking up the hare tied with a rope to a wooden stake in the ground.

"Do you think they'll catch it? Last week, they let a very small hare escape," I asked with some curiosity.

"That's because our wolves were teaching yours to hunt, but with this big hare, I doubt they'll fail," said Asli, crossing her arms.

My brother took a knife from his pants, cut the rope still tied to the hare, and released it. As soon as the hare touched the ground, it started running at great speed into the garden.

After some time passed and the hare was out of sight, we let our wolves go after it and returned to the castle.

This time, I bathed without Marcy's help, who seemed a bit sad. But I want to become independent in basic self-care before she sees my body react at a very young age because of my memories.

After cleaning myself up, I went to have breakfast, and it was pleasant because lately, meals have felt more enjoyable compared to several weeks ago. Mother seemed much more open to interacting with me compared to the few words she used to say before, which makes me wonder why she spoke so little to me or only when I needed to improve something.

When we finally finished breakfast with the family gathered, I went to the training ground.

...

The second training ground is a completely leveled area, unlike the other two training grounds that have uneven terrain to allow knights, lancers, archers, and squires to move more easily over the rugged terrains common around here.

When I arrived, I saw Marcy eating a piece of bread while watching Gedric train. Gedric is a rather old man, but not too old, he's very strong and has brown hair and eyes. He wears leather armor that protects his body except for his hands, which seem to be full of scars. Besides, he's the knight I selected to teach me. It's not that he's the best of the knights or has the highest aura rank, but because he was the best in terms of technique and experience with halberds. The reason why it's important that my master is skilled with the halberd is because that's the weapon I chose to start my training with.

Father had ordered me to use all the small weapons we had to fight against my older brother, who uses a spear as his main weapon. Although he only used a broomstick so I wouldn't get too hurt, I started with a one-handed longsword but regretted it instantly. It was impossible for me to close the distance without getting hit by my brother. I tried other weapons, like spears, axes, greatswords, etc., but in the end, the one I liked the most was the halberd. Yet, I still never managed to land a hit on my brother.

Moreover, another reason for selecting Gedric as a teacher instead of someone stronger, like a higher-ranked aura user, is because I discovered that teaching how to use aura is very complex. It's something learned naturally by using weapons or tools for a long time, and it depends on the person's talent to awaken aura at a certain age, with the youngest recorded being 19 years old.

"Young lord." Shortly after arriving, Marcy mentioned me, attracting Gedric's attention toward me.

"Young lord, how about practicing a bit before your weapon arrives?" Gedric said before picking up one of the halberds and handing it to me.

I wanted to click my tongue. "Of course," I said, holding the small halberd. Although it was much bigger than me, the wooden handle was very thin but made of very sturdy wood. Moreover, the tip and blades on both sides were small, making it quite light and easy to maneuver with my small hands.

"As always, I'll only defend myself. So attack me with everything you've got." Hearing those words, I launched forward with determination. I tried to stab his chest with the tip of my halberd, but he sidestepped, dodging my initial attack.

"You must be careful when attacking first. If the opponent has a lot of experience, it'll be very easy for them to counterattack."

I swung the halberd, trying to slash him with a horizontal strike, but he skillfully blocked it, the metal of our weapons clashing with a sound that echoed in the air. I tried to pull his halberd, but the blade prevented me.

"Don't make such open attacks. You'll only create openings for a lethal counterattack that could kill you."

Undeterred, I spun with force, making my weapon trace an arc to strike him with the halberd's blade. To my frustration, Gedric stepped back, leaving me cutting through the air. I continued my assault with a diagonal attack, but once again, he skillfully blocked it using the shaft of his halberd.

"Your movements are very obvious. You must try to attack in different ways, or you'll give him the chance to analyze your attack pattern."

I kept attacking with all my skill and strength. Every move I made was driven by the determination to cut or stab him. However, Gedric seemed to anticipate each of my movements, blocking or dodging with skill.

"I admire your will, not giving up or asking for a break, but you still have a lot to improve."

Despite my tireless efforts and the variety of my attacks, I felt the passage of time and how I slowly started to tire and my hands began to ache, but I still kept trying to land a blow.

I started to feel frustrated, but also a bit of joy, this is very fun.

"That's enough." When he said that, I stopped and began to take deep breaths, feeling how exhausted I was.

"Although you're still very weak, you're the child who has scared me the most out of all the kids I've trained so far. It really seems like you want to kill me in every training session, attacking without any doubt or hesitation."

Clap! Clap!

I heard some applause coming from one side, and to my surprise, it was my father along with my mother, my siblings, and some of their knights. One of them seemed to be holding a weapon wrapped in cloth in his hands.
