With every game there are skills or abilities that help you achieve your goals. Some of these skills can be active or passive but all of them require some cost in order to activate (KP, LP or G$, one if not all of the above). To understand these skills we must take a look at the 7 types of skill sets that exist in Fortuna Sands.
First there are Busker skills are body or movement type skills that gain adoration based on your performance, that include things like Singing, Dancing, or even Dodging. These skills are mostly used for talent type jobs that can be performed on stage or on the streets. Be warned that some areas may not allow Busking, or require a shared tax depending on the ownership of property in a green, gray, yellow, or red zone.
The second category is Dealer skills that means for hands and table games used to turn fate and commonly require a lot more KP than any other skill sets. Dealing may be done on the casino tables or on personal play tables, but once again these come with a risk. If a player fails in a dealing maneuver such as Palming, Sleight of Hand, or Stealing and has no resources to pay, you could insure the wrath of the spirits and the casino management that makes it especially risky for beginners.
Third there is Magician skills that are especially useful for performing feet of illusion and death defying maneuvers. While many games have some element of magic involved, what makes a magician very special is that it is nearly limitless but also limited at the same time. Once can not completely defy the system, but can bend the laws of reality to a point that impossibly will seem high probably at a given time. Whether it’s for a friend or a crowd, who wouldn’t love Card Tricks, Conjured Flowers, or Flash Powder in their lives?
If performing is not your preference then a player may try a hand in relations, public or otherwise. A Wheeler, as the name applies, is someone who greases the wheels, brokers deals and in some cases is an effective eye candy for distraction and misdirection. These classes specialize in form and beautification, like Allure, Glitter, or Shine, draw attention. Cautions could be taken when using a Wheeler skill as drawing that much attention can be sometimes unwanted.

Heater skills are by far the most active in terms of straight up demonstrations of strength and stamina. These tend to drain a lot more Luck Points but can produce fantastic results when locked in combat. Examples of Heating skills may include Boxing, Kickboxing, Karate or other styles of martial arts. Some skills may even border the line of a magician that would commonly be found in kung fu movies, but those are and often sought after.
Contrary to heating, a Cooler is a more passive style of combat for submission instead of straight up knock outs. This skill can be attributed to such not straight up combat but flexing of muscles for intimidating and subjection, that includes Wrestling, Holding, Locking to keep the opponent quit or give into your raw strength. Some Cooling types can also show off their display of muscles against other opponents in muscle building or flexing competitions.
Not every category can fall into these other 6 skills, some can be Freestyle skills, used generally for everyday or non competitive maneuvers. These are tests of fate that can be activated against the system when a player chooses the option of Running, Hiding, or Escape. These can be paired up with any skills to produce a new skill, to evolve with an active skill, such as Magician skill Flash Bang, which can create a flash of light to escape. However, such skills must be purchased on won by specialized skill setters.
While there is no limit to the number of skills one player has, it’s important to remember what skills are available to you, as you never know what skills will be necessary for the future. Fortuna Sands is ever growing and danger could lurk around every corner.
