9. Boiling Point

9. Boiling Point

It was a cube, red, beating, and glowing in its eerie aura. It had a perfectly smooth surface like polished granite. Glowing in the eternal darkness, the cube accompanied the person sitting beside it.

It was a little girl with an unusual appearance. She had fair brown skin, sitting without wearing a single piece of cloth. Her short dark brown hair looked unkempt and disheveled, covering her eyes with red pupils and black sclera that made the pupils appear luminous. A deep slash scar ran across her left eye to her right cheek. A pair of sheep horns and a tail covered with jet-black plate scales with a dagger-like tip only added to her exotic appeal.

Her beautiful doll-like face stared at the red cube with a blank expression. There was no life in her eyes as if they had been sucked into the cube. She sat withered, her limp body liable to collapse at any moment. She could do nothing, trapped inside this void.

That was what Hazel had been experiencing for the past few years.

"Why... me?"

After being pulled by something, Hazel realized that she was trapped in this room. She speculated that she was currently only trapped in her subconscious. All the experiments she had done here with the mysterious cube led her to that speculation. She didn't know what Cief's intention was to lock her up here. But one certain thing was that she was now out of the denial stage.

After her body underwent a metamorphosis, Hazel did not have enough mental readiness to deal with her situation. Hence, she often hurt her own body as a form of denial. Since all of this is just her subconscious, all the violent behavior she does to herself has no meaning whatsoever. But that seems to be where the function of the cube comes in. The miasma it produced suppressed all the mental and inner stress hidden within her outward. Hazel had gone through all the stages of trying to adapt to her body. Denial, anger, despair, and resignation, were all stages she went through with many trials that were so hard on herself.

She wondered if it would have been easier if she didn't have the trauma that carved such deep scars in her mind. That trauma tormented her mind and subconscious, never letting her live in peace as long as she did nothing to it. Feeling fear when touched by females was something, but becoming them was something far beyond her common sense.

But now she had succeeded, accepting herself so that the trauma would not drag her down again.

Uncomfortable with the way she thought, Hazel spent all her time in this place meditating. By calming her heart and mind and spirit, she was able to suppress her acute feelings of panic and hatred. Not sure what would happen if she met a woman another time. Would her trauma be triggered, just like her past?

"This is useless... at all."

The answer is, yes.

"Ha..."

Feeling disappointed and bored, Hazel lay on her back on the cold black floor. A cold sensation stung her scarred back. It was strange that when her body underwent a metamorphosis, all the wounds on her body should have disappeared. He literally melted into a pool of blood when that happened, reduced to something unpleasant. Then reshaped into a smaller version of the thing she feared, a loli.

Having such extreme vitality made her almost immortal to a certain extent. It was first discovered at an early age when she accidentally cut her palm. The wound healed quickly and it took no more than a few minutes for the wound to disappear. As time went on after that discovery, she always experimented on herself. The main purpose of the experiment was to find out if she was as immortal as she imagined herself to be. The high pain tolerance she acquired while doing so made her even more determined in doing so.

At one point she finally managed to discover how much damage her body could take. It was also the lowest point where she was unilaterally beaten by her strongest opponent. The monster swimming in the darkness of the night sky was a nightmare for everyone, including her. If she had the power to turn back time, perhaps she would go back in time and beat up her little self back then. It was a stupid decision, but it was worth the learning.

Never play around with death.

"Ugh... I'm hungry."

Despite being trapped in her own subconscious, Hazel strangely still had the urge to eat. She had thought that it was extremely unreasonable, considering that her actual biological physical absence should make it impossible to feel hunger. But here she was, lying limp with hunger. For years she had been enduring the growing hunger with great difficulty. Hazel was sure the only way to get out of this place had something to do with this cube in front of her. She felt like she'd been with it all these years, but the time had never come for her to wake up.

She felt that something was missing from her every time she looked at the cube.

Was she missing something? Is the purpose of why this cube is placed here to keep her company or to imprison her? There was more than one way to find out and Hazel had tried almost all of them.

She tried to destroy it, but the cube was too solid for her fragile consciousness. It stayed there as if it represented something inside her. This was her mind, so the cube should represent something related to her nature.

Gluttony

She's a greedy person, she can't escape it. Growing up in a harsh environment and a cruel era shaped his personality into someone who is greedy for power. Although sometimes it is masked by a sense of affection for the people she cares about, that greed will always reside deep in her heart. Being arrogant about her power was something she had done before. It came naturally to her as long as karma didn't slap her in the face too hard.

"Is it because of that?"

Her mind instantly went haywire. It was hard for her to think clearly when she was so hungry. The hunger for the body's needs and the hunger for power were different things, one could be eliminated easily and the other would never go away as long as she could not be grateful for what she had achieved. Hazel had been satisfying that hunger for power for as long as she could remember, and the result was what was in front of her. The embodiment of her dissatisfaction gathered together in front of her. No matter how hard she tried to cover it with lies, it would wear off one day and start reminding her of the past.

"I think I'm beginning to understand."

She don't.

'Don't kill yourself, at least until I win.' The words spoken by Cief triggered something inside his mind.

What she probably had to do was to find out the desire of the cube, something about the endless hunger for power.

She was probably being drawn into a game of life and death where more people like him were forcibly abducted. Cief only wanted a mindless monster that would defeat the other players and win the game for itself. A wild theory that sounds very plausible when it comes to an omnipotent celestial entity.

"But, if that's what I have to do... do I dare?" she asked her doubting self.

She thought she was free from the doubts that held her back. But the doubt was still there, holding her back silently.

But...

No matter how strong that desire may affect her, it will not bring her down so badly. Hence, the answer was very simple. She still couldn't accept the fact that she changed into a cute little girl. Hazel had heard something about the five stages of grief. If she matched all the things she had experienced during her confinement in this place. All she should have done was accept the horrible reality of her destiny.

"Huh, harder than I thought." She muttered resignedly, then she stood up and hugged the cube tightly, and whispered something.

"I give up."

Instantly the cube shook and spread more miasma than usual. It went on for a while until finally, the cube created a shockwave that knocked Hazel far back.

"The password, please." Said a mysterious robotic voice that was loud and distorted.

Hazel lay down for a few moments, she clucked her tongue in disgust and annoyance. After getting up and standing up, she observed the cube from a distance with hatred clearly displayed on her face.

"Excuse me, sir. It seems that this me has been holding back this insecurity for too long. Now I'm at the point where this terrible hunger is unstoppable... again?" Reluctantly, Hazel forced a fake smile on her face while holding her stomach with both hands.

"Understood... thank goodness you've finally changed your mind."

Before long, a mass of flesh appeared from underneath the cube. It moved with its arms shaped like the arms of an octopus, creeping up the cube. It stayed there for a while until a small eyeball appeared in the center of the blob. It watched Hazel's every move as she slowly walked closer to it, making sure that the girl wasn't trying to pounce on it.

"I give up, I will accept my nature as a Reter. I won't try to find a way to return to being a... a stud." Saying resignedly, she bowed her head and raised both hands into the air.

"Why did it take so long? You wouldn't be tormented like this if you had tried to accept help from me long ago. All your efforts have been... in vain." The creature replied with disappointment and wonder. The lump of flesh then extended one of its arms and stroked Hazel's chin.

Startled, Hazel reflexively tried to bite the arm but failed. The sticky, rubbery, and moist sensation from the touch was something that made her bones shiver.

"Alright! Then that means you're ready to accept the fact that you're 100% a fertile female that ready to mate-"

Before the words could be spoken, Hazel delivered a hard punch to the lump of flesh. It knocked it far back and surprisingly, it was still intact. It immediately moved back to its original place while occasionally whimpering in pain.

"Well, I take that as an answer yes."

Just as Hazel woke up in what was thought to be her subconscious. This creature had already been there to greet her, but unfortunately, some mistakes in the choice of words made the situation a little worse. He introduced himself as someone who would help her on her journey. Despite introducing himself as a manifestation of a powerful psychic being, his approach toward Hazel was a big fat zero. He directly and without any hesitation brought up a very sensitive topic for Hazel who was just trying to accept herself. It caused her to throw an incoherent tantrum and threaten that she would kill herself if she woke up later, something that was completely against his will. Having no other choice, he had to use his secret weapon which was practically in his complete control. Hoping for sure that Hazel would eventually listen to him completely.

Branik is a being who has the form of a consciousness implanted by a being who possesses absolute psychic power. The consciousness was implanted into the brains of the Reter's ancestors and then passed down through generations. Branik plays an important role for Reter who has just undergone a metamorphosis, they prevent them from experiencing excessive stress after the metamorphosis. One of the most common things that happen after metamorphosis in Reter is the acute dysphoria that occurs in certain individuals. Hazel is one such patient who is difficult for her to handle properly. Equipped only with a library of memories from the host and the ancestors, Branik did not have enough knowledge to treat Hazel.

However, with controlled improvisation. The Branik within Hazel managed to use her hunger and gluttony for power to torment her periodically. Although deeply buried, hunger is the only way to let the mind know that the body needs nutrition. The same goes for the greed for power, it is something that has been with Hazel for a long time and is impossible to get rid of. Just because it can be suppressed, doesn't mean it won't wake up and be resurrected. By combining the two, Branik manages to push Hazel's mind to the edge over time.

Also, the source of the problem is already here.

It was a very difficult thing to do with Hazel's stubborn personality, like trying to dig through a solid fortress wall with just a toothpick.

But anyway, it worked in the end.

"W-well damn it! I'll accept myself as I am..." She said unacceptably, still a lot of resentment preventing her from thinking clearly.

"With that, now all we have to do is security procedures!" He said cheerfully as he finally managed to persuade Hazel.

After fiddling with the cube for a while, Branik pulled Hazel close to it. He hugged her tiny head tightly and climbed on top of her, giving her a view that strangely looked a little cute. But cute things won't feed Hazel, she bit off one of Branik's arms and swallowed the piece of meat whole. But unlike the previous one, Branik relaxes and lets Hazel eat his arm. He let her eat his arm for a while, no matter how much Hazel ate. The arm would always grow back without being used up.

"Hey, can you stop that? No matter how much you eat, it won't fill you up."

"Hmmm?"

Hazel ignored Branik and continued eating even though she knew that what he said was true.

"So... you're not going to try to kill yourself, are you?"

"..."

"If so, I'm glad if you can at least accept your current body. After all, by becoming a female, you can beat females of other species to death without any guilt." He explained carelessly, not realizing that Hazel had stopped chewing on his arm.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

"Is that true?" She asked curiously, looking at Branik suspiciously.

"It is what it is."

After hearing that answer, Hazel relaxed her shoulders and sat cross-legged. Ignoring Branik who was above her head, Hazel bowed her head and entered a meditative state.

"Also, as a female Reter. You can kidnap a male from any other species because you are physically stronger than them."

"..."

"Oh, one more thing that might change your mind. Have you heard that females feel greater pleasure during sex-"

"ENOUGH, STOP IT! ALRIGHT I UNDERSTAND, PLEASE DON'T CONTINUE THAT TOPIC!!!"

Panting, Hazel grasped Branik with both hands with all her might. Although it seemed futile, Branik continued his ramblings for the next 2 hours. During that time, Hazel couldn't help but feel embarrassed and uncomfortable due to Branik's vulgar babbling. Her face turned completely red from the unbearable embarrassment, finally relieved when Branik stopped talking.

"Why... why?" She asked tiredly, trying to forget all the vulgar and immoral talk that came out of Branik.

"You know the reason, as well as why. Now, let's get on with the meal."

"Meal?"

Despite being mentally exhausted, Hazel responded to the word swiftly. She had endured terrible hunger for decades, and hearing that made her shed a few tears.

"Yes, I will serve you the most delicious and satisfying meal you have ever eaten. But before that, I will ask you one question."

"A-anything! Ask me anything and I'll answer it!"

"Alright, it's easy isn't it?"

Branik extended his hand to the cube, making it glow a faint red color.

"The manifestations of the hunger for power and boundless rage, all gathered within this cube. Those turbulent emotions are something else, but the heart that holds them back is the real star here." He explained with a slight hesitation, making Hazel suspicious of him again.

"If this is an emotion that I've buried and will never dig up again. Are you going to try to use it?" She said suspiciously and a little uncomfortably.

Hazel knew exactly what Branik wanted to do to her. By releasing anger and intense hunger, she could return to her former glory. Anger was a very efficient lighter to pump out her full potential. On the other hand, the hunger for power gives her a clear reason to become a heartless, selfish tyrant. The combination of the two is what makes her who he is today, the most powerful Hunter of all time whose name is feared everywhere.

Although some of those memories were a little hazy, Hazel was self-aware of her nature. Although as time went by she began to slowly change her attitude and motivation in life. Hazel knew very well that her little heart was thrashing against the vile lies she kept to herself. Euphoria invaded her body and soul every time she was overcome by wild, bloody emotions.

She couldn't hold it in anymore.

The only barrier that prevented her from unearthing those pent-up emotions, was her family. Hazel did not want to hurt them but she was blinded by her own emotions. That was one of the reasons why she tried to leave that behind, no matter how bad her life would get. But what happens when that obstacle disappears?

Hazel was taken away from her home, leaving behind the family she was supposed to take care of. The weight on her shoulders disappears, and the paranoia in her head disappears. Could that be justified? As the leader of the family, shouldn't she protect and educate them until the end of his life?

But she knew full well that her presence was just a beacon to call out unwanted trouble. Even without her presence, the young men in her family had been able to take good care of themselves thanks to a supportive environment. Her friends had been entrusted with the message to always keep an eye on her family.

"I should be able to... just a little?"

Hazel stretched out her tiny hand and placed it on the cube. She could feel the intense turmoil of anger and disgust just by touching it. Strangeness began to plague her mind, something was missing. It was supposed to be there, but right now it wasn't. She felt as if she had done something and now she was starting to panic about it.

"I-I can't, I don't want to be swallowed up by these emotions."

"?"

An invisible wall blocked her path to the truth.

Without warning, Hazel felt Branik begin to choke her neck. She tried to remove her arms from his neck, but it was futile. An angry and exasperated growl came from the lump of flesh above her, which was a bad sign. Another thing she didn't expect to come was the hard impact that hit her head. Branik violently slammed her head into the cube multiple times. Hazel couldn't fight back at all, she felt as if all her strength had been drained out of her. But after what felt like an eternity, Branik stopped hurting her.

"You'd better stop being such a ridiculous hypocrite. Do you think I'm a fool and a moron? Think about it, all this time I've been living inside your subconscious. Paying attention to all the stupid and silly things and unfortunate moments, that's what I've been doing all this time. Do you think I don't know what you WANT?" His sarcasm was direct, without any hesitation.

"I... I know that, that's why I-"

"Shut up! I'm sick of doing this over and over again. In all the years I've been stuck with you, never have I felt this annoyed in dealing with someone as hypocritical as you. I tried to find the pieces of memory that were passed down to me to take care of you, but none of it worked. You really are a pathetic little bastard who is also a savage!" He snapped loudly as he smashed Hazel's head against the surface of the cube until it shattered.

The contents of her brain were scattered everywhere but in this subconscious. Hazel was something almost immortal, where only her stupidity could kill her. Moments later after the unpleasant show, her head was fused back together.

"You know very well that if the cube doesn't want you, you want this cube. The embodiment of true power, that's why this cube was placed here. You put it here, so why are you pretending not to know anything?"

Trembling in fear of realization, her eyes and mouth opened wide. Expecting a word, Branik pressed Hazel's frozen face against the cube's surface once more.

"It's impossible for you to forget it, because no matter what. This thing is a part of your life, now name it!"

"..."

"Don't make me wait, please." He pleaded as he tightened his grip, trying to squeeze an answer out of Hazel.

"Heart... of Destruction."

He finally got what he thought was a meaningless answer.

"Now, you've mentioned it. Which means you still remember it." He said sarcastically, slowly relaxing his grip.

Hazel knew exactly that the cube was what had gotten her this far. It was her main source of motivation that gave her her pathetic zest for life. With all that the cube had given her, she decided to slowly forget about it on her 100th birthday. Feeling that she was too old for that, she eventually buried those emotions deep for good. She thought that she could live without having to become a bloodthirsty monster in that era.

What a load of nonsense

She wanted it, her fear of loss and anxiety had disappeared. Now all that remained was the emptiness in her heart, her life had become more monotonous since she left it.

The Heart of Destruction was just a heart-like organ on her body. It functioned like a mini nuclear reactor, using a chain reaction of chemicals in her body. With its obsession with the concept of true power, the Heart of Destruction used its rage to burn its life energy into an energy of destruction. By combining two sins, gluttony, and rage. Hazel has found herself a heart of destruction-thirsty passion that will always pump her brain with the heat of her hunger for power.

By drawing on the life force and nutrients within her body, the Heart of Destruction uses its turbulent rage to burn the user to the ground. Serving as Hazel's main energy generator, the heart made her blind to the concept of morality. It pumped hot blood thick absurd energy that masterminded the destruction of her enemy, Catastrophic Energy.

"Even after your fight with that pissboy, you still denied its existence. This thing is the only thing keeping you alive besides that weak will of yours. What? Why do you keep denying it? Don't you understand that this heart is a gift from the creator? With that attitude of yours, aren't you just being selfish and ungrateful?"

"..."

Branik looked at the silent Hazel with great disappointment weighing heavily. He was self-aware that he was just a weak creature who relied heavily on his host's mind. But the only thing he wanted to do was to stay alive and reproduce like any other living creature. To do that, the safety of his host was crucial.

Therefore.

"Please, Hazel. Make sure the choice you make doesn't ruin everything."

Branik got off Hazel's head and sat back down on the cube. Waiting for something to happen to Hazel, Branik entered a state of static.

"Thankfully... me?"

But that was canceled out by Hazel's quiet mumbling which returned to staring at him blankly. The light of hope that had previously left her eyes now began to shine dimly once more.

"I know how difficult the trauma you have is. During the time I lived inside your brain, I saw all those traumatizing images and moments." He replied indifferently, ignoring Hazel who was walking slowly towards him.

"If you know that, why do you keep pushing me? DON'T YOU KNOW HOW SCARY THIS IS?!!!"

A cry of despair echoed in the infinite room. That cry was also followed by the sobs of an extremely pitiful-looking little girl. She was sobbing in front of the cube with Branik's arm around her head. Pouring out all her frustrations and grievances to someone who had seen everything she had been through didn't sound like a good thing. But what if the only thing Hazel needed was a place to throw it all away?

"Ridiculous isn't it? You should be able to do this with your family in the world. Not with the person who's living in your subconscious." He said in surprise and relief, stroking Hazel's emotional head.

"No, I'd rather die buried in the ground than have to live looking at a carcass. Besides, I just want to give them a peaceful life."

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Never mind, I didn't know you could whine like this."

Hazel felt very tired of herself in the eyes of society. Her reputation as a grinding machine of chaos was neither heard nor needed by the people. She knew that if it continued, her family could also be splashed with her reputation. The last thing she wanted was for her family to be mistreated by society.

Therefore, to create a peaceful life for herself and her family. Hazel tries to recolor her reputation in the eyes of the public by reducing her brutality. A futile and pointless endeavor.

"You deliberately erased your memory of your second heart, that's pretty messed up buddy. You're lucky that your instincts are so strong, strong enough to tell your brain when something is wrong with you."

One of Branik's arms moved to touch Hazel's forehead. The tip of his arm sent a bolt of electricity that shocked Hazel's brain instantly. After a brief pause, a torrent of unfamiliar yet familiar memory images invaded her. The memories tickled every nerve in her body, causing a butterfly sensation in her stomach. Then, feelings of anger and rage just exploded out of nowhere. Her whole body tense and shaking, Hazel held her head which felt very heavy tightly.

"Heart... where's my heart!!!" She shouted frantically while searching for something trembling.

"No need to panic, girl. Your heart isn't going anywhere, look this way."

Bringing her face to the front of the cube, Branik tapped the cube a few times. Immediately afterward, the cube spewed out a lump of flesh the size of a baseball. It ticked quietly, each beat shaking the surrounding air. Ignoring Hazel who was gaping in confusion, Branik did what he should have done long ago.

"It shouldn't take this long. But never mind, enjoy the appetizer."

He threw a small yellow ball into Hazel's mouth. That made her reflexively start trying to chew on the gum-like ball. While Hazel was busy, Branik stabbed her chest quickly and accurately. Without wasting any time, he immediately took Hazel's heart and inserted it into its rightful place. It didn't take long to see her reaction, as Hazel went into convulsions immediately afterward. Branik retreated a few meters away to give her some space.

The reaction finally subsided and ended a few seconds later, leaving Hazel sprawled on the floor.

"Hey, Branik. Do you think this is a good idea? I mean, isn't what I'm doing just to fulfill Chief's wishes?" She asked casually as if nothing had ever happened to her.

"Of course, but at least we'll still be alive."

"Ah."

Once again she woke up from the comfort of the cold floor that had accompanied her for decades.

"Did you remember everything? If not, I can pump some pseudo-memories into that little brain of yours."

"No need to bother, I remember everything. Not a single memory of the atrocities I committed together with this heart is missing. I guess, this is indeed my fault for being selfish."

Turning her gaze to Branik, Hazel felt very guilty. Branik only wanted to keep her alive because if she died, Branik would die too. That sounded like a selfish reason, but she had no right to judge him. She couldn't imagine what horrible things would happen to her family when she disabled herself. Making his brain forget about the most vital organ, a key to his survival and trying to shutting it down just like that. She had no idea what she was thinking when she performed the procedure, she could only thank her instincts.

Because of Branik, Hazel was pretty sure that the instinct he was talking about was none other than him. Watching over her from her subconscious, Branik did everything he could to keep Hazel alive.

She held her chest with both hands, feeling her heart beating in rhythmic beat harmony. She felt complete now, she didn't even care about the bitter fact that she was a loli. She was just grateful that she could still live without having to feel crazy paranoia about her condition anymore. Although she was still worried, she could still suppress those emotions with positive thoughts. There was a bit of guilt in her heart for leaving her family behind. But she knew that with her gone, there would be no more danger that would follow them.

Because no matter what, she was a person who liked to bring trouble everywhere.

"Alright, I'm ready to get up now."

Without any reply, a large white hole appeared in front of him. Above it appeared a transparent square screen that displayed an unfamiliar scene. It displayed a forest scene with trees that had silver leaves. But what caught Hazel's main attention was the hall of soldiers that seemed to be surrounding her.

"That cube... is similar to this one. Am I being trapped inside it?"

"Yep, that's right. Now you just have to jump into this hole. Your consciousness should return in the blink of an eye."

If it was that easy, Hazel should have jumped without hesitation. But unfortunately, there was something that slightly hindered her intentions. Even though her brain had been restored and both hearts were active again. The morality she learned from living in society forbade her from killing humans. Rather than morality, Hazel thought of it as a restraint brought about by brainwashing. She couldn't remember if she had ever hesitated to kill a human, instead, she had always encouraged it. If that was indeed from the memory erasure procedure she had undergone in the past. Hazel couldn't be angry and could only be disappointed with her decision at the time.

"Feeling hesitant?" Branik asked suddenly.

"Well... you must know the reason why." She complained resignedly because after all, this was her fault.

"Take it easy, your brain is currently cleaning itself. Your mind and heart will soon return to normal."

"Is that so? That's good... I guess."

"Of course it's good!"

Branik patted the moody Hazel on the back to encourage her. At the same time, his eyes began to sharpen and glow in anger.

"Here, something that might help you."

"?!!"

A wave of anger radiated out from his eyes. It seeped into Hazel's unwary chest, making her take a few steps back. As soon as she felt it, she knew what Branik was planning. Her emotions slowly boiled over, making the hearts of both of them beat with fervor. A wave of fierce and unquantifiable anger came from his head to his heart. A primordial rage that could only be contained by a being that was powered by it.

Making Hazel tremble in euphoria and ecstasy that she had long forgotten.

"Wait a minute! Is that... a dragon!!?"

A creature that she hated to exist, appeared on the transparent screen. The dragon stood there, staring directly at her. Instead of feeling fear, Hazel let out a growl like a beast ready to pounce on its prey. The bloodlust that surged out made her body tremble. Her eyes began to lock onto potential prey that might meet an unfortunate fate later.

Hazel began to take spontaneous steps toward the hole. Each step channeled the fury that was churning for the blood and destruction of her opponent. She no longer even considered the presence of humans around the dragon or even cared about their life. Step by step she went until finally, she stood at the edge of that bottomless pit.

But before she could take a step forward, Branik's arm held her in place.

"I know how much you want to fight that dragon. But I want you to remember this, it will be useful in the future. Don't let your instincts control you. It knows the best thing you can do, not force you to do what it wants to do. Be smart and creative, your anger isn't something you can always rely on. You never do the right thing, nor do you ever do the wrong thing. You just live your life, as a true Rex Tezerra."

Upon hearing that epiphany, Hazel could catch a glimpse of the relieved expression plastered on Branik's face. In the decades she had been trapped here, she had never paid any attention to Branik's existence. She spent every day just contemplating her misfortune. Hazel wondered, what would have happened if she had listened to Branik from the moment she met him. Would her mental and emotional problems have been handled better?

No one knew for sure, she could only assume that it all stemmed from her excessive anxiety. Every day Branik babbled on the cube incessantly. It never stopped babbling so that Hazel could pay attention to it. But trying to attract the attention of someone whose heart was dead was challenging. It took a long time and many ways, to get Hazel to give in and open her heart.

Finally, she had recovered from the, deformed' state she had brought upon herself.

"Crystal dragon, huh? Was it the same dragon back then?"

The further she fell into the hole, the faster her heartbeat. Slowly, her body began to emit red energy veins that slowly reduced her body to liquid. The sensation was similar to what had previously happened when she was with the Chief. Before she was completely reduced, she screamed at the top of her lungs to release all her frustration.

For the umpteenth time, her consciousness faded into the light. The self-inflicted emotional roller coaster would now lead her to a new life. A life where she would learn to be a better person...

For herself, of course, she simply doesn't give a fuck to others.
