CHAPTER 32: THE WARRIOR'S VALLEY AND THE DINNER ENCOUNTER
The Office: Preparing for the Final Review
The office buzzed with a mixture of anticipation and relief as the team prepared to present their findings from the recent audit preparation. Documents were meticulously arranged on the conference table, and the room was filled with a palpable sense of expectation.
Oki, the team leader, called the meeting to order with a decisive tone. “Alright, team, let’s present our audit results. We’ve put in a lot of hard work, so let’s ensure we cover everything thoroughly.”
Rafta, lounging comfortably in his chair, smirked. “Time to see if our efforts are worth their weight in paper.”
Haari, sitting beside Ashi, gave her an encouraging nod. “We’re ready. Let’s do this.”
The team began presenting their findings, meticulously detailing the process they had followed to ensure the accuracy of the files. Haari led the presentation with confidence, highlighting key areas where their checks had ensured compliance and accuracy.
As Haari spoke, Ashi glanced at him, feeling a surge of pride. His professionalism and attention to detail had made a significant impact on their work, and she felt a warm appreciation for his efforts.
Post-Meeting: Celebrating Success
Back in the office, the team gathered to celebrate their successful audit presentation. The tension from the meeting had eased, replaced by a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie.
Haari, with a broad smile, addressed the group. “Great job, everyone. We’ve done well, and I appreciate each of your contributions.”
Ashi, feeling a mix of relief and contentment, added, “I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved. It was a team effort, and I’m grateful for everyone’s hard work.”
Rafta, grabbing a celebratory snack, remarked, “Here’s to surviving another audit and coming out on top. Now, let’s make sure we enjoy the fruits of our labor.”
Oki, who had been quietly observing, spoke up. “I agree. It’s time to relax and enjoy a job well done. And Kichiro-san, your snacks were a great touch.”
Haari grinned. “Glad you enjoyed them. I figured they might make the process a bit more pleasant.”
Evening
As the sun set, casting a warm glow over the room, the atmosphere took a different turn. A group of girls had gathered around an old man sitting by the fireplace.
“Hey, old man,” Girl 1 said with wide eyes full of curiosity, “You’ve lived longer than any of us, and you must have so many stories. Could you tell us one?”
The old man chuckled, his eyes twinkling with distant memories. “Ah, yes, I do have a story for you. Let me tell you about a brave warrior and a dark valley he once faced.”
The Warrior and the Dark Valley
Once upon a time, in a land of mystery and legend, there lived a courageous warrior renowned for his valor. Eager to explore uncharted territories and discover hidden treasures, he embarked on a grand adventure.
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
However, the warrior’s journey took an unexpected turn when he accidentally stumbled into a dark, foreboding valley. This valley was infamous for its treacherous terrain and pervasive sense of desolation. As the warrior ventured deeper, he quickly realized the gravity of his situation. The valley’s harsh landscape made navigation challenging.
Days turned into nights, and the warrior grew weak from hunger and thirst. Despite his dire circumstances, he found a few fruit trees and a spring of clean water, which offered some relief and hope. Yet, survival alone wasn’t enough; he needed a way out.
After several days of searching, he noticed a small hole between the cracks of the valley wall. It was barely noticeable but seemed to offer a glimmer of hope. The warrior took out his trusty scalber, a tool he always carried for such challenges.
At first, the hole was stubborn, and the crack resisted his efforts. The warrior dug with all his might, but the task was grueling, and his progress was slow. Despite the difficulty, he didn’t give up. He put all his strength into each thrust, determined to widen the crack.
Slowly but surely, the hole began to yield. With each strike of the scalber, the crack grew larger. The warrior’s determination paid off, and the once-tight crevice started to open. After much effort and persistence, he collapsed from exhaustion, having consumed all of his stamina by the stubborn crack.
A boy soon appeared through the widening crack and noticed the unconscious adventurer. He carefully woke the warrior, who slowly opened his eyes but remained only partially conscious. The boy then helped him out of the crack, guiding him to safety.
The old man concluded his story with a smile. “The moral of this tale is that even in the darkest of times, perseverance and determination can light the way. The warrior’s relentless effort to overcome the crack in the valley, despite his exhaustion, not only brought him closer to safety but also revealed that help can come when you least expect it. Never give up, for persistence often opens doors to new possibilities and brings unexpected assistance.”
The girls bid their goodbyes and left, their curiosity satisfied for the moment. As the old man settled back into his seat, Haari arrived.
“Hey, old man!” Haari called out with a cheerful wave.
The old man looked up, his face lighting up with recognition. “Ah, Haari, you’ve arrived! Just a moment,” he said warmly. “Your dinner will be ready soon.”
Haari smiled and took a seat at the table. “Thanks! I didn’t realize I’d be interrupting story time. What were you telling them?”
“Oh, just an old tale about a brave warrior and his struggle to escape a dark valley,” the old man replied, stirring a pot on the stove. “It’s a story I’ve shared many times, but it always seems to resonate with people.”
Haari nodded, his curiosity piqued. “Sounds interesting. I guess it’s a good reminder of the importance of persistence. How was your day otherwise?”
“Busy, as usual,” the old man said with a sigh. “But I always enjoy these moments of storytelling. It’s a nice break from the routine.”
“Yeah, I can imagine,” Haari said, leaning back in his chair. “Work’s been hectic lately at the company. It feels like there’s no end in sight.”
The old man turned to face Haari, a sympathetic expression on his face. “Ah, the demands of work can be overwhelming. But remember, just like the warrior, persistence is key. Sometimes you have to push through the toughest parts to see the fruits of your labor.”
Haari chuckled. “I suppose you’re right. I’ll keep that in mind. It’s just hard to stay motivated when things get so stressful.”
“True,” the old man agreed. “But every challenge you face is an opportunity to grow stronger. And who knows? The end of your struggle might bring unexpected rewards, just like in the stories.”
Haari smiled, feeling encouraged. “Thanks for the advice. It’s always good to hear a different perspective.”
“Anytime,” the old man said with a nod. “Now, let’s get you fed. Dinner should be ready shortly.”
After Dinner: A Surprise Payment
After a hearty meal, Haari and the old man sat at the table, the remnants of their dinner still visible on their plates. Haari pulled out a piece of paper from his bag and began writing something on it. Once finished, he folded the paper and handed it to the old man.
“Here,” Haari said, extending the paper.
The old man took it, his brows furrowing in confusion. “Em? What’s this?”
Haari smiled. “Your payment.”
The old man’s eyes widened. “Payment? But you are the main character. The food is free for you.”
Haari shook his head. “I know that, but this isn’t a food bill. It’s the payment for your role in the show. You did great, so you can go home now.”
The old man’s expression turned puzzled. “What? Did I do something wrong?”
