Chapter 2 - New Mission, New Life

Chapter 2 - New Mission, New Life

- Location: Goddess' Domain -

Arcilion (Arc) awakens to the sensation of grass underneath him. After about a moment he starts to go through the same process of making sure that everything works when he feels a hand caress his face. It's not a bad feeling though as the hand is warm but firm and definitely feminine in nature. He can feel the strength in the hand as it moves up to his face and stops once it reaches the stripes on his cheek. Apparently whoever this is hasn't noticed that he's been moving my limbs around slowly until now. Curious as to who or what this thing is, he opens his eyes to take a look.

'Well, this is a bit unexpected. Did I die? Is this what all those people were talking about when they were describing angels?' Seeing the woman in front of him with her flowing golden hair, ample features, and smooth skin. 'This woman has to be the most beautiful person I've ever seen in my life. In fact, she's fucking glowing! Holy shit, there's no way. Either someone went 'creeper at the bar' on me and drugged me or I'm hallucinating. Shit, she's turning back, looks like I'll get my answer soon enough...'

The woman turns her head back to his face and their eyes meet. For a second it's like time stops and everything except for this woman's golden eyes, which seems to encompass the entirety of the universe within, seemingly disappeared. Losing themselves in each other's gazes for a split second, he decides to be the one to break the silence.

"Uhm, Hello Miss"

"Ah. Uh. Hello, Human. Welcome to my Domain!" Says the smiling angel of a woman.

The angel woman gets up and spreads her arms out wide giving him a dazzling smile. Then she seems to glance to her left towards his waist and he can see a faint tinge of pink on her cheeks before she spins around. She waves her hand and white robes appear next to him.

"Ahem, you uh may want to put these on. You know, just in case it gets breezy" Comes the melodic voice as the woman walks toward a table prepared with tea.

Curious, he glances down and notices that he's completely naked. Yup, naked. 'Here I am staring into some random woman's eyes while she sits over me and I'm completely in the nude!' He can feel his face start to burn with the beginnings of a blush and he quickly makes to cover his delicate areas. He stands and grabs the robes before spinning around and throw the robes on so fast, it'd make a bullet look slow. 'I'm no stranger to women or all the things that come along with it, especially after my fusion. However, waking up to having one of the most beautiful women in the world hanging over you, while your naked and have no idea who she is, can be an extremely embarrassing moment. Don't judge me for something no one else has probably experienced!'

"Oh, y-yes thank you, Miss" He replies as he quickly dons his new attire.

"I apologize but I don't believe I caught your name?"

"Oh yes, I am known as Malyazarina to the mortals of this world." the woman replies, finally realizing that she wasn't speaking to someone who was a part of her universe. She seems to fall into her own thoughts for a moment before standing and making her way over to Arcilion.

"I'm also known as the Divine Dragon here, a Goddess amongst those who would call themselves Dragon-kind. Now, step over here so I may give you the most pertinent information regarding our world."

Arcilion is taken aback by the woman's words for a moment but realizing that he really didn't feel like arguing with a dragon, if she was to be believed, quickly steps over to...Malyazarina, we'll call her Malya for now. Lowering his head to allow her to place her fore and middle fingers on his forehead, he begins to feel a sudden warm sensation working it's way around his skull. This turns out to be the calm before the storm though because just as quick as the sensation started, it ended, being quickly followed up by what felt like a lightning strike to the face. Arcilion clenched his jaw as he landed on his rear and waited for the pain and fuzziness within his head to go away.

After about five minutes of waiting, Arcilion opens his eyes and takes another look around. There had a strange feeling when he was first dragged through the portal, one that reminded oneself that they don't belong where they are, similar to when you walk through enemy territory. Arcilion was never a stranger to such a feeling as during his small amount of time living as a Marine, he was constantly in enemy territory. However, now that that the powerful, hungry looking Dragon-lady had touched his head, or more like his soul, he felt safer and more in control. He honestly felt as if he were home. Pushing aside those feelings aside for now he quickly began to skim through the rest of the information given to him by Malya when something interesting happened.

SYSTEM MESSAGE

Welcome New User!

You have been inducted into Universe #237861-897563

The God-like being known as the Divine Dragon has rescued you out from the endless void known as the Rift. The Divine Dragon has stabalized you into the Universe and directly input any and all knowledge you will need here into your head.

'Hmm interesting, apparently Blue Boxes are a thing here. Well, at least it's not much different than wearing my armor all the time and keeping my AI on' Thought Arcilion as he finished sorting through all of the info given to him and waved the notification away. Bringing his gaze back into focus, Arc looks over to Malya who's just sitting at a table drinking tea.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

Noticing his gaze, Malya looks over to him and says, "Well, it's about time you woke up from your little nap Lazy-ass."

"Mhm, so what am I going to do now?"

"Well, you should have gotten a system message, no?"

Arc nodded and started to get up from where he passed out. "Yes Ma'am, I got a big 'ol blue screen that's telling me you brought me here and gave me some of the needed knowledge to live here." Arc says while walking over to the table she's sitting at. "Do you mind if I take a seat?"

She made a gesture to signal that it was okay for me to take a seat and I did. Picking up my own refreshments that were laid out I look to her and wait for her to continue.

"Right, so I pulled you out of the Rift that is formed between Universe's, though I'm not entirely sure how you managed to find one in your Universe. Anyway, now that you're here I guess I can explain a few things and then I have a request of you." I nodded and she looked at me as if pondering something for a moment before continuing. "Good, now, while you could figure all of this out by going through everything I put into your head, I'll make it easy and save us all a little time. As you already know, I'm known as the Divine Dragon, I'm the most powerful being in the world and second only to those beings known as 'Gods' here. Though I know quite a few of them, the difference between them and myself is that I can toil with Mortal affairs all I want because, while I'm technically immortal, I'm still mortal on a fundamental level. Don't ask how it works, just know that it does. Anyway, the world we preside over is known as Andaria. Andaria has one major continent known as Velu, this is surrounded by many small landmasses that aren't really important right now so you can figure those out later. The world is governed by something we call the 'System' though many on the planet just refer to it as the 'Maker' or the 'Watcher'. The system controls peoples growth as well as their class, caste, and profession. It also divides the people's growth into different sections shown as Power, Endurance, Vitality, Agility, Intelligence, Charisma and of course Luck, though Luck doesn't really affect things all too much. All of the previously mentioned attributes can be grown by increasing something known as your 'Level' or by repeating the same action and improving your performance by doing things like exercising or other strenuous activities. The rest of the pertinent information will be provided to you when you can access it via the system. Any questions so far?"

She looks at me and I give her a quick nod before thinking for a moment. "From what I understand, this world sounds quite familiar to the game worlds created for entertainment in my Universe. Since you've scanned through my memories and I know I have a ton on that subject, can I assume that's correct?"

Nodding in response to my question she continues "Yes, it's actually kind of disconcerting how similar it is and I'll definitely have to think on the possibilities this provides for at least the next thousand years. Now, before you ask, yes there are many different races in this world. The 'Gods' and System decided a long time ago that having only one race on a world this large is simply boring so they planted the seed of many throughout the lands. You can expect the races you're thinking of such as Beast-kin, Humans, Elves of all variety, Demons, Fairies, Sprites, etc. There are at least a hundred different species and sub-species and some of them haven't even been discovered yet. The most important one to you though is the Dragon race. Unfortunately, all of our kind were all but driven to extinction by an Ancient race that attempted to take over the planet millennia ago. In fact, most if not all races love and worship Dragons as their saviors. Haha. Even I'm worshipped like a God down there which infuriates some of the true 'Gods' above."

Arc looks at her for a moment before narrowing his eyes and asking "You said Dragons are the most important race for me to know about, why is that?"

"Ah. That's part of the request I have for you actually" Malya pauses a moment while taking a sip of tea. "I want to make you a Dragon." Nearly spitting out my own sip of teat I stare at her, incredulous. "Now, now, don't look at me like that. I think you'll actually enjoy it. Plus, becoming one and fulfilling this selfish request of mine will give you the opportunity to explore and live in a world entirely different than what you've known. So, what say you?"

I stare for a moment while thinking to myself 'While this is entirely too much for me to go over right now, I have a strange feeling that she isn't lying to me. It feels like whatever she wants from me is extremely important, at least to her it is. I'm also stuck in this world, or Universe rather, so I might as well make the best of it right? Fuck it, this shit's so different to me that I can't even begin to reason with it. I mean she did say this is literally a fantasy world, something I've wanted to see since first setting out amongst the stars and it's not like I actually have to get involved with drama between people. Yeah, the year 3000 and people still create drama like it's High School. Pfft. Alright, let's just do it.'

I look her in the eyes with cold determination and reply "Very well Ma'am, I'll accept the transformation and the request of your without complaint." She eyed me with a raised eyebrow for a minute before asking "Oh? So quick to decide and you haven't even heard the details of the agreement. To say nothing of losing your humanity." Nodding back I reply simply "That's correct Ma'am, I am...was I guess a Marine, we go through life-threatening missions all the time without question and only half of that time do we actually know who's giving the order aside from our section commander. As for my Humanity, well, I gave that up a long time ago in order to become the best warrior I can be."

"Very well" Malya says before pulling out a crystal of some type and smiling "This here is the only known Transformation crystal to exist in the world. Once you swallow this it will begin to adjust your body to that of a Dragon. However, unlike most Dragons, your true body will be that of a Humanoid form. Though not a full human, you will be able to hide your non-human features as you go and will have access to it whenever you may need it. In addition, you will be also be known as a Divine Dragon like me but with the addition of the Guardian title showing that you will be much more active within the Mortal world and the defense of it should the need arise. This is also part of the request, you will, when called by me, immediately set forth and either defend this world from outside attackers or those who would seek to destabilize the world as a whole from the inside. However, when not on these 'Divine Quests' you are allowed to interact with the Mortals however you wish. Please take note that you will be significantly more powerful than anyone down there and may be requested to do things by the mortals. You are allowed to complete these tasks for whatever reward they may want to give so long as it does not destabilize the world. Essentially just live however you want but do not forget that you are first and foremost a Divine Dragon Guardian, a Soldier for the World and the Hope of all should enemies attack. Understood?"

Something in her tone makes something snap within me and I immediately stand up at attention and reply "Ma'am, yes, Ma'am!"

She looks at me with a bemused smile on her face before handing me the crystal. I take the crystal and toss it down my mouth without even thinking. I can feel the pain beginning to course through me before I fall back into the chair I was sitting in and close my eyes before clenching my fist around the arms of the chair. Just before losing consciousness I can here the Divine Dragons final parting words.

"Oh and I'll have you equipped in your armor and weapons before you get down there. Contact me at the nearest shrine if you need me! Good Luck my Guardian."

With that I was welcomed into the cold embrace of darkness.
