Chapter Eight

Juniper hold her hands and then opened them. A small fire appeared and Juniper held it in one hand. Juniper then balanced the fire on her index and middle finger and threw the fire on some branches. Penelope thanked Juniper and Juniper started to talk, "Here now, let me explain hearth magic. There are casting fires and alone fires and heats. You start a casting fire and then you say the spell into the fire. You understand." "Yeah, um, why are you telling us this?" Penelope asked. "You need this information to talk to your sister." Juniper answered. Juniper walked to the fire stand down. Penelope and Isabella followed her and sat down. "Your sister needs you," Juniper continued, "Your sister needs you to identify her killer."

"Do you know who killed her?" Penelope asked. "No," Juniper answered. "You have magic and you don't try to help my sister?" Penelope asked. "Look kid you need to do this-" Juniper commanded before being interrupted. "Why can't you?" Penelope questioned. "Why shouldn't you do this?" Juniper questioned. "Because you can do this easily and quickly." Penelope remarked. "Just do this kid." Juniper commanded. "Fine I will," Penelope yelled, "But no thanks to you. I'll just wait until stars appear and..... and....and? Okay I might need your help." "Kid, I'll talk to your sister and we can start our journey, okay?" Juniper requested. "Okay," Penelope answered.

"How do I talk to her?" Penelope asked. "Let me cast a communication fire, okay?" Juniper asked back. "Okay," Penelope responded. Juniper casted a fire and then talked into it. The fire became a dark green. Juniper grabbed the fire in her hands and made contact with the other fire. Once they contacted the fire exploded and turned green. "Dear Reagan, your sister is her. Please tell her the information she needs. You are safe. We are alone. Please come, please talk." Juniper spoke. "Hello," a voice said. "Reagan?" Penelope asked. That was the same voice. The sweet, young voice. The voice that loved chocolate, that loved her family so much. "Penelope!" Reagan screamed, "I love you, sister. Help me, help me, relief my spirit. Catch my killer." Reagan continued.

"What?" Penelope questioned. "Catch my killer. I'll give you a clue although it will be in a riddle. Don't give that look, I want to try it. It lives in the woods, hidden in the trees, near the abyss we play near." Reagan said. "What?" Penelope asked. "I can't tell that's the point of the riddle." Reagan answered. "Why are playing in an abyss?" Penelope asked. "It's figurative." Reagan answered. Then Reagan disappeared and then the fire exploded and left. "Great," Penelope laughed, "There's Reagan." Isabella looked at Penelope, smiled, and said with a light tone, "She seems wonderful." "She is," Penelope remarked with a smile. Juniper slowly walked away. Juniper turned around after walking for a few steps and said, "I'll be near the heart of the forest." Juniper casted a spell through a spell and disappeared.

When she disappeared, a great fire blazed then quickly disappeared with her. Penelope and Isabella looked at each other. 'Heart of the Forest?' they thought. They shrugged. Penelope looked at the floor for a minute. She started to scratch her chin. "My sister said that the cooks were emotionally dead. What if Reagan meant near the cafeteria?" "Maybe, let's go," Isabella remarked. "Ok, Reagan told me it was 880 yards north or half a mile north of the Poppy Cabin," Penelope said, "Let's walk a little and find Poppy Cabin." "Ok," Isabella remarked back.

Penelope started walking outside the trees. Isabella followed her. Penelope then walked south. Penelope kept walking south. She started turning rights and lefts. She still couldn't find it. Though, she found the back of Peony Cabin. Penelope looked around and found a sign that read The South Cabins. Penelope walked to the front of the Peony Cabin. Isabella continued following her. Penelope went over by the sign. It was in the center of the south cabins. 'There's the dirt path." Isabella spoke. Penelope looked north and saw the dirt path. "Let's follow it." Penelope commanded. Penelope got onto the dirt path. Isabella followed. They walked for a few minutes and then found the cafeteria.
