Professor Rowan's POV
"That's how we found him." I created a story of how we found Davy. For now, it's better than telling them the truth, they'll know the truth about his origins later, but for now I decided to make a story that no one can prove aside from Cynthia, me and the few people involved. This would also make it so that him having no ID because he lived on the mountain and had close to none human interaction more believable.
"That's so sad..." Roseanne said. She is one of my most trusted assistants. I feel so bad lying to them.
"It must painful; losing his family and his home." Dawn said
"Let's take good care of Davy; he just lost his family and isn't used to living outside the mountains," Josue suggested. "Especially you, Enya—don't tease him too much, and no pranks." He gave Enya a meaningful look. Enya then nodded but didn't say anything.
"Dawn, can I entrust you with showing Davy the ropes? I'll to you the list of work we need to do after I organize it."
"Yes Professor! You can count on me!"
"I'll go call Professor Oak, don't stress Davy too much, okay? He needs rest." Then I left and goes to my office. I then called Professor Oak to thank him for the egg. I sat down at my chair and contemplated before calling Professor Samuel oak. We've always been in touch with each other and have done research together multiple times. Maybe I could bring him in on Davy's case. He could be a great help. But I need Davy and Cynthia's opinion first.
"Hello? Good evening, Professor Oak."
"Oh, good evening, Professor Rowan. What do I owe the pleasure of this call?"
"I just want to thank you for the pokemon egg. I received it earlier without any damage. I plan to give it to one of my new assistants."
"New assistants? You have a new one aside from Enya?" I messed up; I should have just said I'm giving it to Enya.
"Ah, yes I met him while in Snowpoint City, he's been a great help so I decided to take him in."
"Must be nice having more assistants. We don't have much hands to help here in my lab."
"Maybe you should start recruiting more people Professor Oak." I suggested.
"Maybe I should, there's enough budget for me to get one or two assistants, maybe you can help me..." We talked for a few more minutes until I heard a knock on my door.
"I have to go now Professor. Again, thank you for the egg." I tried to end the conversation.
"Don't mention it Professor Rowan, plus, I couldn't take care of the egg here once it hatches, it'll be a disaster if it hatches here in Kanto. I'll promise you; when the egg hatches, it'll blow your minds." Professor Oak warned. But I didn't paid attention and wanted to end the call.
"I'll wait for it Professor Oak, I really have to go now, let's talk next time again." I hanged up and asked the person to come in. "Come in"
Enya gets inside before closing the door. She took a chair and sat in front of me.
"Professor, please be honest. She looked serious. "It was a lie, wasn't it? All about Davy was a lie right?"
Her intuition surprised me. She has always been smart; she graduated in her class with top grades, she is good judge of people and observant. That's the reason why I took her as one of my assistants.
"Why do say it was a lie?" I gave her a questioning look; trying to look believable.
"His eye twitched when we talked to him; he looked confused for a few seconds before going along with your story," she answered confidently.
I can't even blame Davy; Enya always notices the smallest things. "Enya, this will be my warning to you, don't try to dig into Davy, you won't find anything about him. I can assure you; he is not someone evil or will do anything to harm people." I tried to assure Enya; holding to my agreement with Davy to vouch for him.
"So, it was all a lie! I knew it!" she exclaimed with a high-pitched voice.
"Enya! shhhhh, don't be loud!"
"Ah!" She calmed down.
"You won't give me any information right Professor?" I stayed silent for a few moments.
"Enya, for now I can't tell you any information about him, but I trust you to observe him and to become his friend. Also, report to me anything abnormal that happens. This is highly classified, even Champion Cynthia is involved and is taking care of Davy." I could see the shock in her eyes; the usual playful behavior she shows is nowhere to be seen.
"Professor, are you sure you can entrust me with this? If it's as highly classified as you said, then isn't there someone better suited for the job than me?"
"There are very few people who know about this—just a handful, really. Since you already know that the story I gave was a lie, I have no choice but to entrust this to you."
Enya contemplated what I said. She looked so serious that I felt like I could see her mind turning and twisting as she brainstormed.
"You're such a liar, Professor. You already planned to let me in on this, didn't you?" Again, I was impressed by how quickly she deduced it.
"You made him live with me in your house, anyone would be suspicious of that. So, this was your goal all along."
"You're the only one available; Roseanne and Josue are always busy, Barry, Lucas and Dawn are always out, and he also have nowhere to stay so I made him live there." I told her my reasoning.
"I guess that makes sense. But still! A man and a woman living in the same house together is just..."
"Don't worry about it, I have cameras setup all over the house, if anything happens, I'll know."
"That's not what I meant!"
"I know what you mean, Enya. I plan to send Davy out most of the time, so you don't have to worry about anything developing between the two of you, unless you want to and allow it to." I teased her.

Davy's POV
Everyone came back with faces full of pity. 'What did you say Professor Rowan?!'
"Davy, I'm sorry you had to experience all that. We're here for you." Roseanne hugged me. 'I don't know what's happening at all.'
"It'll be fine, now, all you can do now is move forward. If you need anything just ask," Josue told me with sympathy.
"Dad! That's not how you console someone." Dawn said. 'Console? did someone die? Also, Dad? His, her father?!'
"Losing your family and home must be hard. I don't know what it feels like, but if you need someone to talk, we're here. You can tell us anything." Dawn held my hand, her eyes on the verge of tearing up. 'Wait, did Professor Rowan made up a story? From what they're saying, it seems like I lost my family? Is that the story Professor made?'
"I'm sorry for teasing you earlier, It was insensitive of me." Enya said.
"I'm fine. I'm used to being alone, so I'll manage." They seem more, sad now, and Roseanne started crying. "We won't let you be alone anymore. wahhh!"
Dawn's tears started falling. Josue also held my hand and then Enya also started tearing up.
Later that night everyone started to leave and go home, Enya said she had to talk to Professor Rowan before going home and asked me to wait for her. I observe the surroundings; the night here seems so quiet and peaceful; unlike the city night where noise and the cars never stop. The night sky is also beautiful, I could see the night sky it's adorned with a multitude of sparkling stars. The stars vary in size and brightness, creating a gentle, twinkling effect that gives the sky a sense of depth and wonder. In the cities, you won't be able to see them at all. The moonlight casts a soft, silvery glow over the landscape, adding a touch of magic to the scene. Glaceon sat beside me, looking up at the night sky.
"It's beautiful isn't it, Glaceon. It's my first time seeing a clear night sky like this." I reached my hand to the sky, hoping to hold it. "I might become free in this world." I muttered to myself but Glaceon seems to hear it. She poked my side with her nose and then placed herself on my lap. "You really like to cuddle don't you." She replied with a purr and I started to pet her.
Thoughts started to swim inside my head again. As I gazed at the gentle night sky, I felt a swirl of emotions wash over me—worry, peace, and everything in between. The twinkling stars seemed to mirror the complexity of my feelings, each one a tiny point of clarity amidst the vast expanse of uncertainty. The soft glow of the moon offered a reassuring presence, its light a balm for my restless mind. The serenity of the night sky was both comforting and disconcerting, a quiet reminder of the world's boundless possibilities and the weight of my own concerns. As the night deepened, the calm and beauty of the sky provided a momentary escape, allowing me to find solace even as my mind continued to churn with unanswered questions and lingering doubts.
I was taken out of my trance; I felt a hand touch my shoulder. "Are you alright? You seem spaced out." Enya asked, it seems they're done talking about something. "I was just enjoying the night sky. We don't get to see it this much from where I used to live." I said to her honestly.
"I can imagine, after all, you live in a mountain with eternal blizzards and snowstorms right?"
"Yeah... It was just snow all year long I couldn't see the sky at all!" I panicked.
"Pfff!" she chuckled, clearly amused. "Let’s go now, we have to get your mattresses ready."
We walked silently. All I can hear is the crickets... or the Kricketots chirping on the background, Glaceon herself started yawning. "I've been curious, how did you and Glaceon meet? Did you catch her the usual way? or was she given to you as a gift?"
"She was Eevee that time, I was attacked by two sneasels when I was lost in the mountain. When I was about to lose hope, she jumped in front of me and protected me. That was our first meeting."
"Oh! that's a rare experience, so what happened next?"
"We got destroyed by the snea-" Before I could finish the sentence Glaceon bit my foot. "Ouch!"
"Ahaha, looks like she doesn’t want to tell the tale," Enya laughed. She then knelt down and tried to pet Glaceon, who didn’t seem to appreciate the gesture."Come on, I won’t hurt you," Enya coaxed. I swear I saw her using Baby Doll Eyes. Glaceon looked at me, she seems to want my confirmation. I nodded at and smiled.
"Your body is cold, but it's comforting for some reason."
We continued to walk until we reach the house. Enya then showed me where the mattresses are and helped me carry them to my room. "Thanks, Enya I owe you one."
"It's fine; we'll be colleagues from now on, so it's only natural for me to help out," she reasoned.
"I really appreciate the help, thank you."
She smiled before pulling me. She whispered. "There's cameras all over the house, so don't try to do anything weird okay?"
I blushed; it was the first time I’d been this close to a woman my age. I was not ready for it.
She continued, “But there are no cameras in the bathrooms.” My face turned even redder, not quite understanding what she meant. She then left with a mischievous smile, sticking her tongue out. It was then I realized she had just been teasing me.
Glaceon and I lay in the bed, I tried asking her if she wants to sleep inside her ball, but she refused. I slept in the bed while she seems move to the chair with comfy beddings in the middle of the night.
Day came, Davy and Glaceon both woke up. They tidied the bed and themselves before going down. In the dining hall, in there they saw a butterfly like pokemon. It features a strikingly radiant and warm color scheme reminiscent of a sunset. Its wings are adorned with a gradient of golden-yellow hues, transitioning to deeper orange and red tones towards the edges, mimicking the colors of a sun setting on the horizon
'What pokemon is that?' Davy got close slowly, trying to see if its hostile. After he got close, it notices him and let out a cute sound. Glaceon slowly got close and sniffed it. The pokemon then goes down and got close to Glaceon with the same curiosity as she had.
"Oh, Good morning, Davy!" Enya, coming from the kitchen, greeted Davy, while holding a tray of food. "Did you sleep well? hopefully it wasn't uncomfortable."
"It wasn't I had a goodnight sleep. Did you cook all that yourself?"
"Yeah! It's my hobby." She then puts the food on the table and gestured Davy to sit.
"Come, let's eat."
“No, it’s fine. I didn’t help or contribute any ingredients either.”
“It’s fine, it’s all on me this time.”
Davy accepted her offer, even though his guilt urged him to refuse. Before Eating Davy asked about the butterfly like pokemon that's playing with Glaceon.
"She's my pokemon, Vivilion, she was given to me by my mom when I was a kid. That time she was just a cute little Scatterbug." Davy does not have a clue what kind of pokemon it is.
"It's my first time seeing a pokemon like that."
"They're very rare pokemon, in Kalos where I live, there's only a few patterns you can get. Their patterns differ from each region."
After they ate, Enya called Davy to the living room. She was holding a few papers and a pen. "Let's decide who will do the chores, is there anything you enjoy doing?"
"I'm fine with anything, I'm not really good at doing chores."
"Are you sure? If you're sure I'm gonna start organizing." Davy nodded.
After a few moments, Enya gave Davy the list.
Chore list:
Cleaning the bathroom: Davy
Garden: Enya
Washing the dishes: Davy
Cooking: Enya
Trash Disposal: Davy
Laundry: Individual
Overall house cleaning: Together
Shopping: Enya
"What do you think?"
“It’s fine by me, but what about the cooking? Are we eating together?”
“Of course! We’ll save more if we cook our own food. Speaking of which, let’s both contribute a bit of our salary to the food budget.” Enya then took out another paper and showed it to Davy.
"This here is our monthly salary, and this, is the amount we'll put for our own food." Davy looked at the amount shocked. He didn't ask Professor Rowan about his salary, he expected to get a small amount of salary. He didn't expect to get this much.
E: 30,000 D: 30,000 Food: 5000 = E: 25,000 D:25,000 F: 10,000
"Wait! How did you know my salary?! And how is it that high?!" Davy asked, shocked.
"I asked Professor Rowan earlier, and that’s the standard salary for an assistant," Enya said, a smug expression on her face.
They heard a knock on the door—it was Dawn who came to pick them up. "Good morning! How was your night, Davy? Did Enya do anything?" She cast a suspicious glance at Enya.
"What do you think of me?! I wouldn't do anything like that knowing what happened to Davy."
"Just making sure." Dawn then asked Davy if he is ready.
"Yes, I think?" He nervously said, unsure of what being ready means.
"Then let's go! Enya, catch up with us later! Professor Rowan was asking for you earlier!" Dawn grabbed his hand and ran, Glaceon, also ran, chasing them.
