Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Daylight was the only time masters and servants could rest.

A familiar man strolled through the streets, watching the people and cars pass by.

For a moment, he longed for peace and normality, but he swifty squashed it.

He grumbled to himself. “It was fate that decided I have such a tragic fate, not me.”

The man continued walking.

Ever since encounting Gilgamesh, he had shifted his opinion on the current war.

After recalling some things, the man found other variables that threatened his goals.

Although Gilgamesh was the strongest, he was the most unpredictable, thus the man had a different target in mind.

After walking for a while, the man arrived at a building.

Tohsaka residence.

One of his targets was inside.

At a glance, he could tell that there were several barriers protecting it.

However, due to the man’s strength, he could easily force his way inside.

Upon entering the house, the man immediately leveled it using his black flames, despite finding it unnecessary. However, when he realized Rin wasn’t there, he quickly left to find her.

Rin, meanwhile, had fled when she sensed the man easily breaking into her home. Since Archer wasn’t responding to her messages, she had no choice but to.

When she was some distance away, Rin saw a pillar of black fire engulfing her residence.

Although angry, Rin was grateful for fleeing as soon as possible.

But she wasn’t safe, as when the servant found Rin not present, he immediately gave chase. Due to their differences in strength, he easily caught up with her,

Seeing her doom approaching, Rin was forced to use a command spell to summon Archer.

Just before the black flames neared Rin, Archer appeared in front of her in a flash of light.

He had been so close to finishing Assassin when Rin summoned him.

Despite feeling angry at this, Archer immediately blocked the attacks directed at Rin.

clang clang

The two arrows were deflected to the ground, then disappeared.

A man approached Rin and Archer.

Archer was shocked when he saw him.

He couldn’t even express how he felt right now.

This man too, was a threat to humanity and the world.

But unlike Koe and the woman, Archer could tell this man was a walking calamity.

After nearing them, the man said, "Hmm..? Archer ?"

"So Rin used her command spell to summon you, how unfortunate."

The man wanted to kill Rin, thereby removing Archer at the same time due to a lack of mana.

But now, with Archer in front of him, things would get more troublesome.

The man smiled at Archer's complex expression.

Then Rin shouted from behind. "Hey what are you doing? What if ordinary humans saw this? Don't you realize what you’re doing?"

But the man was unconcerned about such things.

He waved his hand, summoning a black flame shadow.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA…”

Someone screamed from hiding..

"No one will notice, if there is no one left to notice"

Rin whispered to herself. “That servant has gone mad.”

After looking at Archer again, the man’s eyes were drawn to Archer’s swords.

The man looked sharply at ARcher. "I see, so you’ve met the hunting dog?"

"But why did she give those weapons to you?"

"This is weird, she shouldn't know anything, maybe she's up to something."

"Well, since you've come this far, shall we finish this?"

The man jumped up and a black flame shadow rose from beneath his body.

Archer swiftly responded.

The man covered his hands in black flames and clashed with Archer.

He was far stronger than Archer, not only did every attack dull Archer’s hands, he also used every part of his body to fight Archer.

It was clear the man was a martial master, and with his flame shadows, he far surpassed Archer.

If it weren’t for the two flame swords, Archer would have lost already.

Finally, Archer was overwhelmed by the attacks, causing to to be thrown to the ground, leaving a large crater in his wake.

"Archer." Rin worriedly exclaimed.

From the start, Rin knew Archer wasn’t his match.

Seeing Archer was separated from Rin, the man quickly moved towards Rin. .

Only Rin needed to die to remove Archer from play.

Just one strike from him was enough to turn Rin into a bloody pulp.

Rin threw the gem she had on the ground and dodged.

The gem turned into a barrier, allowing Rin to avoid his attack.

Rin began to shiver, her servant was incapaciated and this servant was about to kill her. This was the first time she had felt death approaching.

The man landed where Rin had just stood, he was only a few meters away from her.

Seeing Rin frozen in fear from his aura, the man grinned viciously and readied his attack.

Suddenly, Archer fired Caladbolg II.

Facing the attack, the man used his fists to parry the attack, causing a huge explosion.

Due to the explosion, Rin was thrown back.

"Master." Archer caught Rin in the air.

However, due to the explosion, Rin was knocked unconscious.

Archer decided to run away, he knew even if he sacrificed himself, the man wouldn’t stop until Rin was dead.

Even though Archer ran as fast as he could, the man kept up, his every move seemed like a technique.

Realizing running was pointless, Archer put Rin in a safe place and faced the man.

The man became amused. “Giving up, are we?” He didn’t care about them personally, they were just variables he wanted gone.

He then mocked Archer’s fighting stance. “Are you going to use Unlimited Blade Works now?”

He was flabbergasted, as EMIYA’s heroic spirit, no one should know anything about him, not to mention his noble phantasm.

Seeing Archer's expression, the man became even more amused.

"It must be fun being a hero, right?"

"Oh right, since you didn't like your destination or your ideals, you’ve come before me."

The man was clearly mocking Archer, but his ridicule only soured Archer.

Archer sternly asked. “Who the hell are you?”

The man smirked happily.

"Why don’t you guess?"

The man casually took a step forward. “If you guess who I am, I will let Rin Tohsaka live.”

Despite how he looked, he was telling the truth.

Archer started to activate his noble phantasm.

"I am the bone of my sword"

The man continued to walk as if he didn't care about Archer's noble phantasm.

“Steel is my body and fire is my blood”

He took another step.

“I have created over a thousand blades”

"Unknown to Death,"

“Nor known to Life.

“Have withstood pain to create many weapons”

“Yet, those hands will never hold anything”

The man still seemed relaxed.

“So as I pray-”

Just before he could finish, a hand touched Archer’s shoulder, interrupting him.

"You're finally here, hound." The man shouted loudly, both joy and anger mixed into his voice.

The short black haired woman said to Archer. "You don't need to use your noble phantasm."

"Thanks to you getting summoned and bringing the swords, I finally found this jerk."

"Hey jerk, how’s your girlfriend doing?" The woman said mockingly.

"You bitch." The man became furious from her taunts.

Then two clashed.

Fists clashed against each other.

One fist was enveloped by a black flame shadow while the other fist was enveloped by orange flames.

Their impacts caused bursts of wind to fly.

While in a stalemate, the woman continued to taunt. "Hehehe. Last time I saw you, you cried about how your lover was gone for good."

In response, the black flame shadows rose all over the man’s body in anger.

The two continued to fight each other.

They were each others’ equal.

Explosions could be heard every time their punches collided.

Archer couldn’t comprehend it.

The woman then screamed. “Archer, get your master to safety, I’ll hold this man off.”

After pausing for a moment, Archer listened to her and ran away with Rin.

“Hunter!!!” The man couldn't contain all the anger and resentment that had built up his heart and jumped up to attack Hunter.

The woman, Hunter, sighed and also moved to attack the man.

The black and orange flames scorched and shattered everything around them.

Although they were equal in strength, Hunter could use weapons while the man only used his body.

Spears, shields, knives, short swords, whips, arrows, and other weapons were skillfully used by Hunter,

Because of this, Hunter slowly gained the advantage.

After being knocked back by Hunter several times, the man stopped to take a breather

He stood in the ruined center of a residential complex.

Orange and black flames could be seen burning in every corner of the destroyed building.

Even though he was recuperating, the man didn’t flinch at all, his gaze was laser focused on Hunter.

Hunter was standing opposite to him.

Her long orange hair fluttered in the wind, she now displayed her true appearance.

She used all kinds of equipment, even her armor was formed from several different types, giving her a patch quilt like appearance,

Hunter was a scavenger that used everything she found.

With a cold, yet natural demeanor, Hunter looked at the man.

Hunter wanted to talk to him, but when she saw his blind thirst for vengeance and equal strength, she could only feel troubled.

Seeing usual methods couldn’t work, Hunter decided to try something new.

Filling her equipment with shining light, Hunter raised her right hand and manifested a spear.

Hunter then grabbed the spear and threw it at the man.

Seeing such an obvious attack, the man easily dodged it.

But when the spear reached its destination, Hunter teleported to it and grasped it again.

Using the spear, Hunter fiercely attacked the man, each blow aimed at killing him. Despite the man doing his best, he was overwhelmed by them.

From behind the man, the black flame shadow began to form a humanoid form.

With the help of it, he was able to retreat safely.

“You thought I would let you go?!” Hunter shouted, summoning a large bow.

She pointed her bow at the fleeing man and pulled the bowstring.

Orange flames formed an arrow in the bow.

Hunter showered the man with countless arrows, filling his body with holes despite the black flame shadow protecting him.

Hunter watched his miserable figure flee.

Although Hunter was arguably one of the strongest individuals participating in this war, she too had her limits.

Even though she had used all her energy, the man still wasn’t dead.

But even so, Hunter didn't seem to care that he had escaped, she had done her best.
