Chapter 11

Tae Hyun looked down at the Paladins in Myredi; he was pleased with the progress they had made since he took over. It was the last two years since vague memories of his previous life had begun to return and while he could remember his name he preferred his new name his mother had given him Maxius Eranhart it fit with the culture better if did say so himself. Plus he didn’t look like Tae Hyun anymore. When he looked into the mirror he saw a blonde haired blue eyed young man.

So Maxius it was and his memories from his previous life were super vague nor did he remember how they had died, but he knew they had and that the Goddess Caphaine saved them and blessed them much like the heroes in the past who had driven off the Beast tides. Ultimately while he loved humanity and wanted to serve them he had a deeper reason for fighting. The idea of joining the Goddess Caphaine’s pantheon was too good an opportunity to pass up.

It wouldn’t be long before the rest of the heroes got to meet and when that happened they would begin making their plans. The Temple under the Goddess had done a good job spreading the Goddess’s vision and dictates to the human nations, but the Dwarf and Elf nations were slightly less quick on adopting. Not because they didn’t honor or worship Caphaine, but because they had local deities they honored as well which to the Temple was heresy of the highest order and frankly they were right, but one couldn’t expect beings as long lived as Dwarfs and the neigh immortal elves to be super keen on change. What wasn’t tolerable though was worship of the traitor goddess Vasphaine and thus anywhere it sprung up had to be stamped out.

Maxius knew two of the heroes had reached out with a delegation from their home nations where they had been raised. Though he didn’t know which of his former classmates it was yet. The delegation had been so tightlipped he didn’t even know if the hero was male or female which would have helped narrow down the potential options at least.

“Are you waiting?” a middle aged man with graying hair said his hands clasped behind his back.

Maxius turned to see a man wearing the typical robes of one of the clergy of the temple Grand Magi Thadren of Myredi. “Yes, the Delegation from Osland should be arriving soon as well as the Xi Long Empire’s delegation.”

“Who do you think they will be?” Thadren said, looking at the practicing Paladins as well.

Maxius shrugged “Beats me could be any of them.”

Silently Maxius hoped one would be Ji heon in their past life they had been dating for about a year before the accident. Everything else was hazy, but the feelings he had were still something he remembered and her face which was beautiful.

Kim Chae Woo, Kae Yejun, Ae Ki Nam, Lee Jae Ha, and himself were all the guys who were in the accident. As for the girls, Ji Heon, Yun Sa Rang, and Na Saena were the three girls on the trip with them.

“The Beasts and their Spawn will be pushed back and humanity will rise as a result. If we see even a modicum of similar success as the first heroes sent by Caphaine then we will benefit for generations. Only one thing stands between humanity and this. All of the mixed blooded spawn of Vasphaine.”

Maxius nodded Caphaine had revealed their true intentions to him. Despite beasts and monsters attacking Draakin, Werebeasts, and Harpy alike they only did so because in the end beasts are beasts, but to have a duel nature was much more difficult to deal with.

While the Kingdoms of humanity had not taken a policy of oppressing and driving out the mixed bloods from their lands…yet. He was sure as the Temple continued to grow in influence this would change. It had to.

A trumpet blared in the distance signifying the arrival of the delegation. The King would likely already be there with the Princess. Thus Maxius rushed away after bidding Thadren farewell.

Xi Shi road atop the Xi Long war horse proudly. It was her duty to show off the splender of The Xi Long empire to Myredien Kingdom. While she was a hero brought to this world and had regained some memories of her previous life she had little interest in it.

While the Temple of Caphaine had brought representatives from several of the major human nations and elf and dwarf representatives for the express purpose of working together to drive back monsters. Xi Long sent their own Princess to bear her and thus her purpose was simply that which helped Xi Long. The heir to the throne of the Empire is also a hero to humanity. The benefits were clear.

Xi Shi was not particularly interested in the theological excuses the Temple made for this. What mattered was it was to the benefit of Xi Long.

The delegation included her elder cousin and several diplomats who were here for other reasons. The ones who really mattered to her was her dozen hand selected Flaming Spear Paladins who she had personally selected and trained with.

“Princess Xi, it looks like they decided to meet us with appropriate fanfare. The King himself made it.”

Xi Shi nodded “A Princess of Xi Long is as distinguished as any King of Myredien.”

“Certainly true Princess!” The diplomat exclaimed.

After they entered the convoy pulled to the side and all the members dismounted. Xi Shi scanned the faces of all of them. From her previous life Myredien people most closely resembled Germanic people. While Xi Long peoples most closely resembled the region of the world she had lived.

The King of Myredien had a kindly face with speckled gray and black beard. His crown was simple and not extravagant. Suggesting he didn't flout his position. Besides him was clearly the Princess who looked like her father black hair and blue eyes.

Finally her eyes landed on whom she could only presume was Myrendien's hero. Maxius Eranhart.

If she was honest she didn't think he seemed like much. Sandy brown hair and blue eyes. A confident, almost cocky disposition. He wore plated armor and a longsword sheathed to his side.

Despite not caring in the least about her past life she did find herself mildly curious as to which classmate this was.
