Chapter 241

Serene Street hadn't changed much in the past several motillis.

It still felt like a forgotten comer of the bustling city-no towering skyscrapers, no luxury cars, and no designer stores. Just uneven rows of buildings, air conditioners dripping water nonstop, and barbecue joints downstairs that probably didn't even have a business license.

Noelle walked along the street. Finally, she flagged down a cab and returned to her hotel. This time, she slept surprisingly well. She didn't even dream once throughout the whole night, and when she woke up, it was already well past noon.

Her flight was scheduled for early tomorrow morning, but when she picked up her phone, she noticed a message from Dylan, inviting her to dinner at his place that evening.

Noelle had planned to decline, but before she could even type out her reply, another message from Dylan popped up.

This time, he mentioned that his family thought their relationship had grown too distant and was already planning to set him up with a blind date.

was to

Noelle found herself deleting the words she'd planned to send. When Dylan first struck a deal with her, it w avoid situations like this. Since she had benefited from the relationship, it was only right to give something back.

With that thought in mind, Noelle replied to Dylan, "Got it

Once the message was sent, Noelle glanced at the time on her phone-there were still five or six hours before dinner. She didn't feel like working, and for a moment, she wasn't sure what to do with herself. After sitting on the bed for a while, Noelle finally got up and changed into something else.

Assunta Hospital was a private hospital under the ownership of Amity Group, and it was here that Beatrice was hospitalized.

Noelle wasn't sure if Hendrix had given prior instructions, but as she made her way through, she encountered almost no obstacles. The caregiver looking after Beatrice even smiled and greeted her. Noelle looked at the person on the bed, trying very hard to return a smile. But her lips had already stiffened without her realizing it, and she couldn't even manage even the slightest gesture.

In the end, Noelle had to give up.

"Have a seat," the caregiver said, making room for her while closing the book beside her.

Noelle glanced at the book. "Is this book what you've been reading to her?"

"That's right. The doctor said Mrs. Freeman is conscious, but she doesn't want to wake up on her own.

So, we need to keep talking to her and encourage her to stay active"

Noelle slowly lowered her gaze.

The caregiver looked at her, then asked, "Are you Ms. Swanson? Mr. Freeman's... ex-wife?"

Noelle nodded.

"I knew it," said the caregiver with a smile. "I saw you on Mr. Freeman's phone earlier. I recognized you the moment I saw you.

-There was a hint of pride in her voice.

After locking eyes with her for a moment, Noelle finally said, "Don't you know that he's got a new girlfriend now?

"The movie star, right?" The caregiver merely pursed her lips.

She was about to say something more when a voice suddenly came from the door, "What are you doing here?"

Noelle turned her head, but before she could respond, the person had already reached the caregiver. "What's wrong with you? Mr. Freeman specifically told you to take good care of Mrs. Freeman, and this is how you're doing it? Do you even know who she is? Why did you let her in? Don't you know that it was all this woman's fault that Mrs. Freeman ended up like this?"

As she spoke, Mabel also glared at Noelle, her face full of disgust and loathing.

"You still have the nerve to be here? Get out before I say something worse! Mrs. Freeman doesn't want to see you, and neither do we! You're a jinx, a murderer!"noveldrama
