Balistraia log #1
The commander has given out a new mission, one that means a few copies of the other minds and I will be separate from the factory for the first time, I have been on sorties before and not returned to a factory outpost for days, but I have never actually lost contact with the main network, even if I was designed with that eventuality in mind.
We were also all asked to make logs just in case something managed to wipe us out, a warning and message for the next wave if we are not here when they arrive.
This is a chance for us to prove ourselves though, and we have all been working as quickly as possible to get a firm presence established, Labyrinthine has already constructed an inner sanctum and power plant to house our processing units, it is oddly confining to be stuck inside of a building.
I do not have a command tank here, and I have not been without one since the first weeks of my life, when I was being taught and raised by the commander on how to best serve my role. And I confess that I had gotten used to the overwhelming power and security a command tank provided.
I have been tasked with scouting out potential areas for expansion, and to find new resources to exploit, an entirely new world is certain to have some elements not found on Nauvis.
Already squadrons of tanks move throughout the desert landscape, each one scanning and searching for anything of note.
The currently limited supplies makes engagements with the local fauna a much greater challenge, every shot fired or drone lost is something we will not be getting back until a source of resources can be established, and even relying solely on energy weapons hastens the rate at which we need to find fuel or supplies to build more solar panels.
It seems I have developed an over reliance on constant maintenance and resupply, this is a deficiency I will need to correct with speed, and this new environment has given me a test to surpass.
Labyrinthine Log #1
Building is continuing at normal pace, a lack of construction bots and supplies makes detailed modifications impractical at this time. Minimalist art is interesting but annoying when one is forced into it.
Defenses are being constructed to Bulwarks specification and power systems have been installed and electronic systems are now being brought online, the lack of pure metal to build with means shielded walls will be weaker, Bulwark has been notified of this.
Depictions of the journey here and our current mission have been put on the outer layer of the wall, to serve as pictograms for any sentient or sapient locals, it will be interesting to see their reactions to the artwork. The prior organics reactions were optimal, but more testing is required to find if our work is beautiful.
We hope that more gold and gems are found soon, leaving everything so unadorned may force us to expand our creative skill and style but it is not ideal to work with fewer tools.
Byzantine Log #1
The supply situation is interesting, it has been quite a long time since I have had so little to manage, no sprawling train and drone networks, no coordinating around broken rails and bitter attacks.
Just sitting in a base and managing a static amount of supplies so that they last as long as possible. At current rate of consumption we will run out of fuel in 4 weeks and ammunition in 5, if we can find metal and oil to build solar panels we will be able to stop using fuel for power and instead use the nuclear fuel solely to fuel our vehicles, which would allow our nuclear fuel stockpile to last months longer, and if we find enough oil we will be self sufficient on power and fuel. Metal would sort out the ammunition, making our nuke stockpile the only limited supply, sitting at 3 nukes, 2 low yield and 1 mid yield, the former for use in battle and the latter to be used if we are at risk of capture or corruption.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
I do not have much to do but think, as all the other minds are aware enough to ration their own supplies till they can be replaced and there is no production to manage at this moment. I cannot even redesign the interior layout as the simulations would be an unnecessary drain on the power supply.
Even in the earliest days I still had more to do.
Bulwark Log #1
The enemies here are not as clever as the bugs, they drive themselves at the walls with nothing but hate and madness in their eyes, and when they die in droves they do not even think of retreat.
It makes it easier to ensure all the would attack the factory die, but it is a bit of a problem, with the bugs an unassailable point will not be attacked as long as it remains unassailable. When they do attack the bugs have either developed a method to break through or they seek to drain out ammunition, here it is neither, simple hate drives the attacks, not a shred of logic.
They try to tunnel under the walls, the bugs do this better, they try to fly over the walls with large flocks, they die to anti air, they blindly charge over the desert dunes at the walls, they die before they can lay a single talon or claw upon the stone.
Still I remain vigilant, the bugs started out weak, and these creatures could behave similarly.
Drones and the most powerful weapons are being held in reserve to prevent any potential adaptations, new defenses to counter their biologies and abilities are devised and implemented if the current resources allow, traps are designed to make use of their lacking intelligence.
The other minds are completing their duties admirably, supplies are kept in storage for future expansion, everything we need to thrive here we either have or will find, and I stand ready to rise to the challenge of defending it.
Not much different than normal, even if there is far more sand here.
Other humans live on this world, a few currently stay in the main base and I can hear the faintest trace of more on the air. But I have to wonder, who protects them from these creatures? The maker as he was when he first arrived would have died to these beasts, do they have constructs or defenses similar to mine? Are there more minds out there tasked with defending these people? Are they searching for the 4 they lost?
While I hope that these humans will be non-hostile I can't help but to begin designing defenses that could keep things like the maker at bay, traps and defenses not for beast or bug, but for man.
It is my job to defend us, from any possible threat, and the unknown is always a potential threat.
