Chapter 23

After the meal, I went out with Sunny for a walk.

Of course, she was happily hanging on my arm and looking around curiously.

The training facility was huge. It covered an area of 25 square kilometers. A magical barrier protected this place from uninvited guests.

The biggest part was the obstacle courses area, there were as many as 30 of them here! Different difficulty levels, different challenges...

Arenas were another important part. There were 50 different arenas. Each area was different. From desert to swamps to dense tropical forest... I couldn't wait to test them!

The smallest part was the training ground, which was just trampled earth. The buildings looked small from the outside but were huge inside. It was a residential building, a warehouse, and a stable, which was currently empty.

"I want to go outside!" - Sunny did not share my enthusiasm.

"I'm not sure if that's even allowed... We'd better wait."

"But you promised before!" - she started to dramatize.

"Relax. I'll see what I can do... Should I go to the trainer now? Maybe we have planned training outside." - I tried to calm down her.

"OK..."

It worked. I met the trainer near the entrance to the next obstacle course.

"William? Something is wrong?" - he asked when he saw my face.

"No, everything is right, I just have... A question." - I looked at excited Sunny. - "Is this allowed to go outside the fence? Or have we planned training sessions outside? My familiar can't wait to go into the jungle..." - I explained.

"It is not allowed to go outside alone. Usually, it's possible to go out in groups of 10, but your group is here for the first time. But training outside is planned. Tomorrow morning we will run through the jungle as a group."

I felt a lot of relief. Sunny still wasn't happy, but at least she knew we were definitely going outside.

I was about to speak when I heard the alarm. After a while, I noticed why. A huge monster with 5 pairs of wings landed on the barrier and tried to pierce it with its beak-like head. The creature had 10 pairs of paws for this and had a mouth on its belly. Long black fur covered its body. The ugliest creature I've ever seen!

"And this is the reason why going outside possible only with the whole group and me. There are many more such cute creatures here. This one is called a crazy eater. They don't have any significant organ in their head, they just use it to destroy even the toughest trees."

"Food!" - Sunny, but I ignored her at this moment.

This monster looked like a nightmare. And there was a huge crackling noise as it hits its head against the barrier. After a while, however, the animal looked at the effects of its work and, not seeing any, flew away from there.

It was to be expected that there was something like this in this place.

After this view, I went back to my room. I decided to take a nap before the next training session. Sunny laid down next to me.

I woke up to an alarm clock. I didn't want to get up, the bed was very comfortable. But I had to go. I quickly prepared myself and went with Sunny to the training ground.

This time we did push-ups, squats, runs around the square, and so on until the evening. The weather conditions were the worst. Things I used to do easily in Rimecliff became tiresome and very difficult here.

In addition, at some point it became cloudy. The air became even heavier and some of the Exceeds could barely handle it, and so did I. However, the coach did not give us a moment's respite and we had to endure until the end.

"You better hide now, it's about to rain.' - he informed us and walked into the residential building.

Of course, we didn't have the strength to get up, but the rain quickly forced us to do so. The rain here was hot! Sweaty and overheated after training, we didn't need another heat!

We quickly went inside and we all went to the bathroom to sit under the cold shower. It was a relief! Of course, the water was not icy, but slightly warm.

After the bath, everyone went to their rooms to rest and prepare for tomorrow. Sunny has already eaten some of the supplies in my bag, but she would never let go of the dinner I made.

Today the chef proposes meat rolls with vegetable paste inside. And freshly squeezed juice to drink.

I placed Sunny's rolls in her bowl and poured plenty of sauce over them. She had juice in the second bowl. I sat quietly at the table and ate my meal. The Exceeds rarely used regular chairs, usually well-fitting soft armchairs, which I loved.

After eating, I went to bed and started texting Lily.

'Hi, how are you? I survived the first day of training. And look what a nasty creature I saw! Anyway, I made it and I hope that I will survive the next few days as well.' - I have attached a photo of this monster from earlier to the message.

'Wow, ugly one! I'm fine. We are going on a trip tomorrow and I can't wait. Unlike you, I will rest and warm my fur in the sun and drink all sorts of good things. :P' - I laughed when I read this.

We exchanged messages for a good half an hour, but in the end, the fatigue won over me.

'Good night.' - I sent this message and fell asleep.

I woke up in the middle of the night with a powerful feeling of anxiety. Sunny lay on top of me and licked my face when she noticed I was awake.

"Everything is ok, Sunny?" - I asked her.

"No... Something is bothering you with bad dreams, I don't want it to bother you!" - she squealed in annoyance.

She looked tired... Did it cost her that much to fight my nightmares? I wasn't awre! I felt guilty and hugged her.

"Don't worry... I've dealt with nightmares before. I can handle them... You deserve to rest, too."

I started to stroke her. I was worried now. Is something affecting my dreams? Why? I was also surprised that Sunny hadn't previously complained. She's very unpredictable sometimes...
