After a few hours of training, I needed to sleep. I was exhausted, and this place seems to be the only possible place to sleep peacefully... If a skeleton wanted to do something to me, he would have done it at the beginning.
I prepared a place that should be comfortable for me. It didn't take a long time to fall asleep... Unfortunately, the nightmares came back.
I was in a dark space, and everything around me was writhing. Suddenly disfigured beasts rushed at me... Zombies? I woke up screaming and looked around panicked. The skeleton jumped away from me in surprise. What was he doing so close to me?
- What are you doing? - I asked.
"You slept very restlessly, I wanted to wake you up" - he wrote on a crystal tablet.
- Oh... Ok... Thank you - it was still suspicious. - Ever since I've been in the magical world, I've been plagued by strange nightmares. It's been a long time since I had such a clear nightmare - I said worried.
"Maybe too much stress" - he replied to me.
I nodded and I lay back down. This time I just closed my eyes and lay still, pretending to be asleep. I didn't hear any movement from the skeleton... After a long time, I fell asleep and woke up refreshed. I had another nightmare, but this time it was another fuzzy dream.
- Uh... Good morning? - I yawned and looked around.
Edan was not here? Strange... I got up and packed my things. The larva ate almost everything... And it's already 15 cm long! That's a lot of progress! It already takes up my whole hand and is now covered with delicate fuzz.
- You look a little nicer... I think I already know what you can become. But it will be hard for you for sure... - I put it in my bag and headed towards the exit.
Where did that skeleton go? As soon as I left his zone, I began my search. I managed to kill a few monsters along the way, but I saw no sign of a skeleton.
I found him after two hours! He stood motionless outside one of the corridors
- There you are! Why did you leave? - I asked, but there was no reaction.
I started to worry a lot. What happened? Has anything suddenly changed?
A few minutes of silence passed, and he finally moved. He turned to me, but his movements were quite... Shaky. He made a movement as if to write something on a tablet. I gave it to him right away.
"The dungeon will collapse soon".
- What?! Are you serious? Is your strange behavior... Is it because of this?
"Dungeon is close to the end... So do I" - he replied. - "Animals will be even more aggressive soon, watch out. It was nice to meet someone here"
He gave me the tablet back and lowered his hands.
- Maybe... Do you want to try to go out with me?
He shook his head and sat down here. He looked as if he was watching trees and flowers growing on lianas.
- Well... Hang in there... Maybe it's not the end-end... Ed, thanks for your help here...- I said sadly.
I patted him lightly on the shoulder. Those bones were warm. Strange.
- Goodbye - I took the fastest route out of this place.
My steps were heavy, I felt strong remorse... Even though he seemed to be resigned to his fate... I felt bad, I suspected him to the end, and he didn't do anything to hurt me. I hope that despite how fate has treated him... He will find peace.
I quickened my steps. I don't know what my chances were of getting out of here, but it seemed I had no other choice. I didn't have time for more training, so I had to rely on my supply of ferns... And luck.
After a dozen or so minutes I ran into a large herd of young basilisks. I counted 21 of them. I created blades of darkness that quickly pierced the bodies of the monsters. The strong breath of fire ended the lives of those who were still able to stand.

I tossed them hastily into my bag and moved on. The monsters stopped caring about hiding and attacked me directly. Animals from the side tunnels also came out and attacked me immediately. It was crazy! After two hours the bag was half full. For the first time since I had a familiar, I was starting to worry if I had enough space.
In the further parts of the tunnel, I also managed to find some herbs and spices. I tore them off but didn't read any more detailed information. I didn't want to spend too much time on it.
The way to the side exit was long, and I didn't know how much time I had. A lesser basilisk blocked my way. I created a large blade of shadow and sliced through its head with a decisive movement. I felt that not only my magic improved but also my physical attributes.
Maybe I'll even be able to keep up with others during battle training? It would be a dream come true. Soon after, I killed a few more lesser basilisks and found a way down. The side exit is near the end of the next floor which is 5 times bigger than this one...
I took a deep breath and blew a mighty flame into the tunnel. Shortly after, I started running downhill, past the remains of spiders. I threw everything I had within reach into the bag.
- I can't believe I'm saying this, but eat as fast as you can... There will probably be more food below - it seemed to me that my familiar took it very much to heart...
At times I could feel my bag vibrating. I didn't want to see what was going on inside... Downstairs, I immediately encountered a giant spider the size of a car... Isn't it too soon? It should be much later, close to the end! It's gonna be harder than I thought. Especially if I encounter monsters from the lower parts at the exit.
I threw a concentrated fireball straight into the monster's mouth, and it backed away in shock. I took my time and sliced through the head with the shadow blade. One spider of this size was enough to fill a lot of space in my bag.
The environment here was similar to the forest above. The only difference was that the space here was very wide and the trees were much bigger.
Unfortunately, there were more monsters in my sight... Lesser Basilisks. Young trunk spiders... Unfortunately for them, I was already very good at fighting them. More food for my familiar! By the way, I found herbs, including some species I came across for the first time.
Unfortunately, it wasn't that easy. Such intense fights quickly tired me out. I found a pinkberry bush! I ate found pinkberries straight from the bush. I didn't know how long I could keep up this pace but I had no choice.
I didn't have to wait long for the next fight. This time it was a golem. Slow but hard to kill. I had to find its core to destroy it. One took me a quarter of an hour to defeat him. And I was sure I would meet many more.
I tossed the remnants of the core into the bag. Familiar desired it very much... Good, because I was worried if any part of this creature would be useful.
My face dropped when I saw a squad of 20 golems walking toward me. They destroyed all vegetation in their path and there was no free space between them.
I sent a strong blast of fire at them. It damaged them slightly... I repeated this two times, the damage was much greater now and 4 golems were killed. They were closest to me. I didn't want to use all my strength at once, so I started attacking them with my shadow blades.
Powerful blows rained down on me again and again. I dodged them as much as I could. The fist of one of the golems grazed my leg hard, and I lost a piece of my skin. I backed away as fast as I could. I ate some fern to heal my wound.
The unpleasant feeling made it difficult for me to function for a while. The golems were closing in again, so I increased the distance between us again and started attacking them with large fireballs.
I destroyed them one by one, but I was losing strength faster than the number of my opponents decreased. There were 4 golems left and I was barely holding on to my strength.
I decided to take a chance and started running towards them, then suddenly dodged to the side and avoided them. I knew they would follow me further, but I had a chance to find something useful.
I only managed to collect larger pieces of cores and moved on. I managed to find the remains of a pinkberry bush. Only a few fruits survived, but it was enough to regain strength to continue the fight. I didn't have to wait long for the monsters to come. Their footsteps were also very loud.
I took a deep breath and blew fire at them. I used all my regenerated strength for this, but it worked! Golems defeated! The problem was that I didn't have the strength to fight anymore. I could just move on and not fight them. But I was too afraid that I could soon have another long fight and I end up surrounded.
I collected all the remnants of the cores. Then I moved forward. After a half hour, I found a side tunnel from which the golems came. I also saw another huge spider! I threw a shadow blade at him, but he managed to deflect it with his leg. It was quick!
He didn't wait a second and shot a spider web at me. I destroyed it with a small blast of fire. The spider's next move was to shoot 4 threads at me! I destroyed them with flame again, but this time I increased its strength to reach the monster as well.
My lungs started to hurt terribly. I've reached my limit... I took out the knife. I haven't used it for a long time, but I had to save my strength. I ran at the monster and stuck the knife between its eyes. A horrible screech reached my ears.
The monster hit me in the stomach with his leg to push me away as fast as possible. I managed to magnify the wound inflicted by my knife before I landed on the ground. The spider moved its fangs and stood over me.
I rolled to the side at the last moment and the monster sank its huge fangs into the stone... It crushed this rock to pieces! And I knew where the pain in my back was coming from. With my last efforts, I hit the fireball in the belly of the spider and tried to escape from under it as quickly as possible.
I hit a weak point, which, combined with the wounds on the head, was the peak of the monster's capabilities. The huge body fell and crushed my leg. I hit a dead corpse several times in anger. My situation was getting very bad and I still had a very long distance to go.
