Chapter 15: Family Members

Chapter 15: Family Members

Mr. Bhaskar was unable to tolerate his wife and daughter's treatment of Mr. Brahma and his family. As a result, he later pulled them aside in his personal room and confronted them separately.

Mr. Bhaskar said to his wife: “Why are you treating my brother and his family with such indifference, honey? Remember that they are also a part of our family.”

Mrs. Malvi said with an indifferent expression: “I don't think of them as family, and I am well aware that they have come to live with us because your brother was unable to find employment and your stupid nephew was turned down for college admission, so they have resorted to you for assistance.”

Mr. Bhaskar asked his wife, looking at her questioningly: “Malvi How can you say this knowing that Brahma alone is responsible for my current position as a police officer? My brother, a prestigious officer at (International Premier Bank) IPB Bank, helped me get this job through his connections. He also bought this house, so after receiving so much support from him, how can you be so ungrateful towards my brother? Ten years ago, I had no job and we were in a very difficult situation.”

Mrs. Malvi said irritatingly: “Bhaskar don’t be so ridiculous. Your brother has helped you get a job and shelter ten years ago. That doesn’t mean that he has to come back to us to leech on you and your money. Whatever we are now and our social status it is all due to your determination and hard work so stop your nonsense. Already we have to undertake and look after your parents. That is not enough. Now your brother and his family have also come to live with us as if we are their maids and do not have a life of our own; however we will try not to misbehave with them.”

Mr. Bhaskar pleadingly said to his wife: “Malvi please I would request you to put up with my Brother and his family for now once he is able to find a job they will move out of here and Priya go and accompany Bharat since he is new here and also he is your brother so look after him.”

Priya said with a dissatisfied expression: “Dad you know that Bharat is from a small town so he will not know the basic etiquette on how to conduct himself here and if I take him with me then I will be embarrassed in front of my friends so please do not ask me to accompany him.”

In due course at 9 pm they sat on the dinner table and Bharat’s Grandparents who were the elders of the family were very delighted to see their next generation sitting together and enjoying the meal in unison since it had been more than ten years they visited each other and Making small talk over the phone or during a video call is completely different from meeting someone in person.

Mr. Brahma’s main reason to come into Rajgarh Metro City is to look for a suitable job to earn his living and for Bharat’s admission in a college to continue his higher studies since in Rajgarh town his family was sanctioned by the crime lord and because of his influence Mr. Brahma was fired from his job and no one will give any job to him due to the fear of crime lord and even his son was unable to get admission in a college and this information was already known by Mr. Bhaskar since Mr. Brahma had already informed him about this in the car while returning from the train station.

Also Mr. Bhaskar was in a dilemma because of his wife since his wife did not want Bharat and his family to stay there however it will be very embarrassing and unethical for Mr. Bhaskar to not let them stay there so he could not ask them to move out of their house apart from that to solve Mr. Brahma’s problem he suggested the job of a typist in the city court through his connections.

Mr. Bhaskar said: “Brother I understand that you are looking for a job at this point of time in Rajgarh Metro city so while you are searching for a job I can arrange for a temporary job for you as a Typist in the Law court for the time being.”

Mr. Brahma was aware of the predicament that Mr. Bhaskar was facing, as well as Mr. Bhaskar's hesitations and the attitudes of Mrs. Malvi and Priya didn’t go unnoticed by Mr. Brahma so he decided to move out and live separately on rent however at this point of time he also needed the job very urgently since the savings which he had will not last much longer after paying through Bharat’s education fees hence he had to do something so he made up his mind to agree to Mr. Bhaskar for the typist job.

Mr. Brahma said: “Thanks Brother for helping me out on this day as I am willing to work as a typist also I thank you and sister Malvi for showing love and care with such hospitality towards us. I would ask for one more favor from you that if you can arrange for a rent house for us it will be great.”

Mr. Bhaskar said: “Brother you do not have to go for a rented house, you can always live with us as this is also your home.”

Mr. Brahma said: “Of course this is our home however since we are planning to stay in Rajgarh Metro City for a long time hence would not like to trouble you all much and it will be better if we arrange for our shelter as early as possible.”

Mr. Bhaskar replied: “Although I would love you and family to stay with us, I also understand that you may like to have your own personal space and I respect that so I will help you to get a rent house.”

Mr. Brahma asked: “Thank you so much brother for arranging this. Can you suggest which would be the most suitable college for my Bharat here in Rajgarh Metro City.”

Mr. Bhaskar said: “Yes actually I have also been thinking about this I would suggest he can go to Grand Cultural University as it is the same college where my daughter Priya goes and if Bharat will be there he will be able to accompany Priya and she will also guide him since he is new.”

Mr. Brahma said: “Great then that’s settled Bharat will go to Grand Cultural University (GCU) from tomorrow onwards.”

Mr. Bhaskar added: “Yes and Priya will accompany Bharat on his first day.”

Everyone appeared to be content, but Priya appeared irritated because she had no desire to go with or spend much time with Bharat.

Priya thought: “Dad always makes things difficult for me. Now I have to accompany this stupid Bharat to the university tomorrow. What will my friends say when they find out that such a loser is my maternal brother? I do not want to have any reference with him? I have to think about this.”
