The three returned to SteelFury, their footsteps echoing in the guild’s entrance hall as they carried the collected Aurumleaf.
“Aria-san, we’ve completed the quest,” announced Haruki, his voice resounding in the hall. Aria, who was engrossed in sorting out some parchments, looked up.
“Ah, welcome back, Haruki-kun! How did it go?” she inquired cheerfully.
“Exhausting,” expressed Roderick, the weariness evident in his voice. He and Lila slumped onto a nearby table, their faces landing flat on its surface.
“What happened to those two?” Aria asked, noticing their fatigue.
“They got startled by some unexpected creatures,” Haruki explained with a sigh.
“We did not!” protested the two, their voices muffled against the table.
“Well, anyways, here’s the Aurumleaf we’ve collected,” Haruki said, handing the leaves over to Aria.
“Hmmm, let me examine this,” she inspected the Aurumleaf for a moment.
After appraising it, Aria handed them 5 gleaming Silvers, the guild’s currency.
“Coins, eh?” remarked Haruki.
“Yes, we have our own currency here,” Aria confirmed.
“Can you explain to me your currency, please?”
“Of course! Our currency system is based on a unit called ‘Aurics.’ Each Silver coin is worth a certain number of Aurics, and it can be used for various transactions within the guild and throughout the Empire.”
“I’m curious to learn more about this world’s currency exchange rate,” Haruki said.
“Alright, Haruki-kun,” Aria began, “our currency here is known as Aurics. There are three primary denominations: Bronze Aurics, Silver Aurics, and Gold Aurics. It’s quite straightforward, actually.”
She continued, “We have a neat hierarchy: 1 Gold Auric equals 100 Silver Aurics, while 1 Silver Auric is equivalent to 100 Bronze Aurics. So, it’s a matter of scale, you see?”
Haruki nodded, processing the information. “And what can you usually get with each denomination?”
“A loaf of bread typically costs about 5 Bronze Aurics, whereas a simple dagger might set you back 50 Silver Aurics,” Aria explained. “For a night’s stay at an Inn, you’d be looking at 3 Gold Aurics.”

Haruki seemed intrigued. “What about a meal at a tavern or a basic healing potion?”
“A simple meal at a tavern is about 10 Bronze Aurics,” she replied. “And a basic healing potion? That’ll be 25 Silver Aurics.”
He nodded, absorbing the details. “Got it. So, it’s all about the denominations and their respective values.”
“Exactly,” Aria affirmed. “It’s fairly structured and helps in managing trades and transactions efficiently.”
“I get the gist of it now. Anyway, let’s pick up another quest,” Haruki announced.
Both Roderick and Lila looked at him with surprise. “Don’t worry, we’ll grab some lunch at our inn first, then we can head out,” Haruki assured them.
The two sighed, apprehensive about taking on another quest. “I hope it’s something easy,” Roderick muttered.
“Same,” echoed Lila.
Aria’s cheerful voice interrupted their conversation, “For your next quest, you’ll be exploring a dungeon!”
Both Roderick and Lila were taken aback. “A dungeon!?” they exclaimed simultaneously.
“It’s better, isn’t it? You two might get the hang of it, dealing with monsters,” Haruki reasoned, trying to encourage them.
“We…well…what could go wrong in a dungeon, right, Lila?” Roderick hesitated, trying to sound confident.
“Yeah,” Lila replied with a hint of uncertainty.
“Are you guys chickening out on me?” Haruki teased.
“We’re not!” they protested simultaneously, attempting to mask their anxiety.
Haruki chuckled. “Ha…aren’t I supposed to be the weak one here?” he mused, reflecting on the anime shows he used to watch back on Earth.
“Anyways, we’ll take that quest, what should we do for this quest?” Asked Haruki. Aria handed out the quest paper to him, “You’ll be exterminating Dreadmaw Scuttlers from the dungeon in the south,” she said.
“South? That big rock with a deep entrance in it?” Inquired Haruki. “Yes, I think you guys encountered it, since the Aurumleaf quest was from the south. So you’ll be heading there once again,” says Aria.
“Dreadmaw… What? What are those?” Haruki asked, peering at the quest details.
“A species of small spider-like creatures with razor-sharp appendages and venomous fangs. They reside deep within the labyrinthine depths of the dungeon,” explained Aria. “They are known to be quite aggressive and pose a threat to adventurers.”
At the mention of spiders, Lila started shaking. “S… s… spiders!?” she exclaimed nervously.
“Yeah, what’s wrong with spiders?” Haruki questioned, noticing her reaction.
Lila’s voice echoed with unease as she exclaimed, “I don’t like spiders!”
The group turned their attention to her, sensing her discomfort. Haruki tried to comfort her, “Hey, it’s okay. We’ll be extra cautious.”
“We must prepare for this,” Roderick added, noticing her distress.
“Anyways! We’ll head out later. We’ll take our lunch in the inn we’re staying. Thanks! Aria-san!” Haruki said as the three exited the Guild.
“No problem!” Aria replied with a smile, waving them off.
