Chapter 31: Mission Passed, Respect +

I found myself standing in front of a showering Ryna. She slowly turned around and locked eyes with me before glancing down at herself. Her face flushed red, and she began to mutter as I began to back away. A spell construct appeared above her head, and I grew warry as she called upon the power of her goddess. Divine spells were dangerous.

“Let’s talk about this. I had no clue I would be teleported here.”

“YOU’RE STILL HERE?

|Radiant Blast|.”

***

Xaivon felt the spatial fluctuations and flung himself off of Gin who had already kicked him off. Both grabbed their clothes before rushing out the room and giving orders. Someone powerful teleported in. To be able to pass the wards surrounding the city was no small feat. Xaivon and Gin both flew outside of the city lord manor and headed to the spot the fluctuation appeared from.

“That’s the Inn your nephew is staying at.”

“Gin, not now please.”

“I’ve known you for years Xaivon. Centuries actually and you never once thought to mention by the way my brother is Asrealt, The Shinning Sun. I can’t fucking believe you. If something happens to Aegis we’re doubly screwed. Fortunately, he’s still taking the Trials. My sources say he’s on to the third and final one.”

“Gin, can we really discuss this later. Just please get into formation.”

Six flying figures surrounded Divine’s Resting Inn before casting a spell in union locking the space around the inn.

“Whoever just teleported in there. Come on out. It’s rude to enter someone’s city with no prior warning,” Gin called out in a loud voice.

Various patrons began to exit the building and a blast of divine power bore a hole through the side of the building.

Instantly six auras pressed themselves inside looking to get a detailed view at their abrupt attacker. A few of the figures began muttering chants and spell constructs began to appear in the air over the inn.

Xaivon looked in confusion as his area swept over the damaged area and over Aegis who was sprawled on the floor and Ryna who just covered herself up with a towel. Not that it would help. If a Sky God wanted to see something on your body if your rank was below them nothing in your power could stop them.

A seventh figure appeared on the roof next to the inn. A figure emerging from the shadows will a medallion in her hand pointing towards the inn. The spells that had been ready to cast where slowly deconstructed and Gin flew into the hole to confirm the safety of the Young Lord. A trial taker had never been teleported outside of the trials before but maybe the gods found something special within the boy.

Xaivon slowly lowered himself to the ground before entering the building. He tossed the cowering innkeeper a pouch full of gold before making his way upstairs. He knocked on the door to the room he scanned Aegis in and waited. A small boy wearing clothes a size to big peaked his head out the door.

“Hello mister, how can I help you?”

Xaivon chuckled at the sight of the boy. He had no clue who the child was but the way he protectively hovered ready to close the door at the first sign of trouble was funny to Xaivon. Considering he was the city lord and could go where he pleased.

“I’m here to speak with the owner of the room. Could you let me in?”

The door was shut quickly and Xaivon had to stop himself from kicking it open. The little shit scampered off without a second thought.

A moment later Gin opened the door and beckoned him in. It must be completely safe as her aura was tightly stuck to her body and her demeanor was calm.

“It seems your nephew was teleported in after he completed the trial,” Gin said while smirking at him.

Xaivon sighed knowing this would not be going away anytime soon. Entering the room, he noticed a fully dress Ryna and armored Aegis sitting. Aegis was munching on some fruit and there were heavy bags of fatigue under his eyes.

“Congratulations are in order!” Xaivon smiled from the heart.

“Tier 6 as expected of one from my family and at such a young age!”

Xaivon watched as the boys’ eyes lit up upon his entrance and plans began forming in his head. He had no child, yet, yet if he could ingratiate himself into Aegis mind at an early stage, he could have any children tutored by the boy. Hopefully some of his secrets would spill out or some of his monstrous talent.

A new aspect has appeared.

The voice rang out in my head silently. A voice I very much did not want to hear.

‘How did you force teleport me earlier?’

‘What else can you do? Most importantly, why now?’

I waited for a response. Minutes then hours. I should be sleeping as tomorrow Xaivon my supposed uncle would be throwing me another celebration. One in honor of completing my trials. Yet so many thoughts were running through my head. My aspects were the newest to join the list. My new level of strength the enhancement to my bloodline and the abilities that came with it. My subtle feelings for Ryna and how to break it to her that she would be teleporting back with Dax before the week ends. A letter to my family to make sure she and the young boy are taken care of. Funds for her to travel back to the north and join her mother. Malix who was still cocooned and my powers that where still shackled throughout all my tier ups. So much was on my mind, and I still needed rest.

In the event of significant harm to the host while the mission remains in its initial stages System has been instructed to preserve the host life by any means necessary. The SEE GOD, SLAY GOD Sect is just one of many old age dangers that still lurk in the shadows.

After hours of silence the System spoke. Answering a few of my questions but leaving me with so many more.

‘What else is there. What dangers are out there? What is this world?’

There are many things you aren’t privy too in the vastness of the universe. You are just a small frog at the bottom of a well. Choose your Aspects, merge and repeat. This is knowledge that would be available had you only finished your mission.

Mission:

Construct a System Monolith.

Details:

Find a suitable blacksmith to construct a System Monolith, which will allow individuals to access the System once started up.

The bright orange screen popped up in my view and I sighed. I once again had a new aspect, and I already had an available aspect space, yet I hadn’t chosen anything. I’ve let the indecisiveness from my previous life follow me like a plague. Hiding it under all manners of things such as no trust for the System, resentment at the situation and small grievances. Childish things really.

This world is a prime world. In the beginning I’ve told you this and what that means.

‘Tell me again. Please.’

My voice was much more subdued with System. I had so much to work on. Myself and the others underneath my protection. Sometimes taking a single step back can allow you to take two forward. I would walk this path of the Aspects.

This world of Gaia is a Prime world. Meaning there is no world higher. The most powerful beings of this part of the universe will reside here. Gods, demons, angels, and devils. 1/3 of a whole. Knowledge beyond this point is only accessible by completing System missions.

I nodded my head in understanding. Maybe the world was something like the cultivation tiers with this world being the highest tier a world could go. What did that mean in the long run for me? I didn’t know but excitement grew in my heart at the thought of adventure. If there were futuristic ships out there. I wondered what else was hidden.

*

My new aspect chosen. I approached the city lord’s manor with a silent Ryna on my shoulder. I finally told her of my plans to send her to the surface ahead and her teleportation ticket along with Dax was already bought. I felt my shadow flicker and looked down at my elf shaped shadow. Just another thing on my growing list.

Ryna had remained silent since our conversation this morning. Time away from each other would do us both good. I knew clear as day of her feelings for me. I wasn’t dense and traveling with someone while having them protect your life and vice versa can deepen a friendship. In my solo journey back to the surface I would be able to properly sort out my feelings as the only time we’ve been away from one another was my trial up Mt. Redcoomshi.

I tossed those thoughts aside. Tonight, was a celebration. Various tradesmen and the city state nobility would be showing up. I grabbed Ryna hand and lead her inside giving it a small squeeze. Careful to control my power as I was a tier stronger now. It would not do for Aegis Kan to misrepresent his family.

Ryna looked at Aegis with complex feelings. He would begin his ascend today and for the first time in two years they would be splitting up. Maybe permanently as Ryna would be stopping by Ashburn to deliver Dax to the Kan estate before being teleported north to her home and mother. She watched as Aegis checked over his gear one last time. Making sure his pack was full of food and water. She wondered if he knew how amazing of an item his spatial bag was of any of his weapons and armor. The life of the heir was not unpleasant. Ryna felt a small twinge of jealousy at the life she could have also had if her family did not lose their title and lands, but it quickly dispersed.

Aegis packed and ready to leave bent down and gave the cry Dax a pat. Reassuring him that he would see him a year if not just slightly over. He brought various maps in the previous days of his supply run and was ready as much as he could be. He stood up and their eyes met. His eyes full of starlight. Bright and burning with excitement and power. His aura was tightly locked around his body yet that could not hide the raw feelings of adventure radiating from him. Would he not miss her?

Ryna grew angry. She would give him something to miss. She grabbed him and stood on the tips of her toes bringing her lips to his. Her eyes close and his widen in surprise before he returned the kiss. Shoving him away as his hand got a bit grabby Ryna turned and grabbed Dax hand returning to the carriage. She would see Aegis again. She would make sure of it.

Amaya squeal in delight at the news she just received from her aunt. Her mother would be returning, and her favorite cousin had completed his trial and Redcoomshi. He would begin his return trip today. She looked over the well-trained little army all wearing matching uniforms as they performed mock combat against one another. Aegis return meant that in less than a decade they would finally get the opportunity to perform what they were recruited for. Conquering.

Amaya had trained this small batch well and couldn’t wait for Aegis to return and see all her hard work. She was also in the process of building her own small force to add to his own. It wouldn’t do for the next Protectorate to not have her own military as well. She however would be getting more noble aligned blood. The 3/4 sons Aegis passed over would make a fine addition to her force.

Amaya clenched her hands in excitement. She couldn’t wait to show her mother all of the hard work she put in.
