Chapter 63 Part 1: New Update

-----

A new week began, and the college was bustling with students everywhere once more. Paul woke up rather groggily after he ended playing the game until late at night. However, there was nothing a good cup of coffee couldn’t solve.

“Hahh…”

He never really liked the flavor of coffee and still doesn’t, but he had learned that he had to drink it even if he didn’t like it; he had grown used to the bitter flavor.

“Classes should be starting in ten minutes... Where the heck is Chris?”

Paul glanced around while sitting in the cafeteria; he had recently gotten a message from Chris saying he was already at the college.

“I guess he’s either in the bathroom or chatting with his friends…”

Unlike him, Chris was very sociable and had already made a bunch of friends—actually, mostly female friends. Maybe because of his personality or how he was, the girls just flocked around him.

Well, perhaps that he was gay and looked like a girl might have also been a strong factor... Girls felt safer around him instead of a manlier heterosexual man, as they wouldn’t have the fear their male friend would end up falling for them or something.

Whatever the case was, Paul had already stopped caring anyway. He was checking the news for Fantasy Story Online; apparently last night, they had uploaded a new patch after a week since the game’s launch.

Paul was reading it all attentively while drinking his coffee and enjoying a strawberry jelly-filled donut.

[NEW UPDATE ANNOUNCEMENT]

[Last night, a new update for Fantasy Story Online was integrated into the game, adding several new events, items, and systems to celebrate the first week since the game’s launch.]

However, as always, the best and rarest items can only be found in Dungeons, Special Quests, or crafted by Players. (Click here to see full list of Items and where they are available)]

[3. New Dungeons, Events, and Raids. Since the first Raid in the Realm of Obscuritas that we’ve been discussing what to do regarding this. We heard you, and after learning that many Players wanted to experience these new events, special Wandering Dungeons, Monster Invasion Events, and Dungeon Raids have been added. There are many Hidden and Unique Events in the game, so it’s your job to find them first and enjoy them. However, there will also be world-wide events that will become available starting today at 5 PM Pacific Time. (Click here for the new World-Wide Event)]

[And that is all for this week! We’ve scheduled the next big update for August! But until then, we’ll continue adding small updates here and there to readjust, balance, and improve the game based on player feedback.]

[Thank you very much for purchasing and playing the game. In Nexus Studios, we are very happy for your support.]

[All Players will receive a [One Week Celebration Gift Pack] as a thanks from the developer team, which will appear inside of your Inventories once you log in after 5 PM Pacific Time.]

[We hope you continue enjoying FSO as much as we’ve enjoyed creating this beautiful world.]

“Damn…”

Paul was surprised by all the updates, changes, and, above all, the events and the gift the developers gave to everyone!

They sure loved spoiling their player base; they even listened to player feedback, a rare sight nowadays, and were willing to make changes if they deemed them worthy.

“Can’t wait to play! Also, I wonder what I’ll get from that Gift Pack? Will it be like some Gacha thing?”

As Paul wondered, the classes were about to begin. He quickly finished his coffee and half of his donut and quickly moved upstairs. In between many students walking everywhere, he reached his classroom without any problems.

“Oh, Chris! There he is…”

Paul quickly noticed Chris walking through the hallway with a group of three beautiful girls, smiling and giggling as he usually does.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

He felt slightly embarrassed to butt in, so he decided to just leave him be and walk inside the classroom.

However, his eyes met with Chris for a brief moment, which prompted Chris to act out of nowhere.

“Anyways, I’ll go sit down with that loser; I either do that or he feels bad, haha!”

“Did he have to say it like that, though?!”

Paul felt slightly angered, although he didn’t care at the end, sitting down and ignoring Chris, who ran to his side. The tomgirl tilted his head, realizing Paul was ignoring him.

“Yo, what’s wrong?”

“…”

“Paul?”

“…”

“Earth to Paul! Do you copy?”

Chris began poking Paul’s hand with his pencil.

“Ouch! Would you quit that?” Paul sighed.

“Then why are you all silent? Let’s talk. I heard there’s an update!” said Chris.

“Ah yeah… But I bet you don’t want to talk about it with a loser like me,” said Paul with a teasing smile.

“Geh… Hey, I didn’t mean it like that!” Chris said angrily. “W-What do you want from me!”

Chris, for the first time, showed some regret for having said something like that, blushing in embarrassment.

“Seeing you flustered is enough,” said Paul, smiling a bit. “Anyways, yeah… there was this.”

Paul showed Chris the updated news, and the little incubus’ eyes sparkled with curiosity.

“Oooh! Looks interesting; let me read!”

Out of nowhere, Chris stole Paul’s cellphone and started reading the information.

“W-Wait! Why did he just have to take my phone like that?!”

Paul panicked, but he thought he would look weird if he asked for the phone out of nowhere.

After all, he didn’t have anything to hide. right?

"Okay, so new items, huh? A bunch of healing and enhancement items were added to ALL Shops? Seriously?” wondered Chris. “That’s crazy; won’t the game become easier like that?”

“I assume you balanced it by either giving a limited amount of them per player or maybe they just heal very little as you get stronger, so you need to find other alternatives. It’s probably to help newbies not suck so much,” said Paul. “Though they’ll still cost Credits, and getting money is not so easy at the very beginning, usually. Though you get some money, food, and potions at the starting point, right?”

“Yeah, I think so…” Chris nodded. “Then there’s the NPC… being even smarter?! Aren’t they as smart as actual people, though?”

“Maybe they meant more like their complexity of emotions and backgrounds becoming more relevant to their personalities?” Paul wondered. “We’ll have to see once we log in again.”

“Yeah! Let’s check… Wait, there’s a World-Wide event too? At five?” Chris raised an eyebrow. “That’s cool! And we’re getting freebies.”

“Looks like,” nodded Paul. “Now give me back my phone…”

“Hmm~?”

Suddenly, Chris smiled mischievously.

“What? Got something to hide from me? Let me see...”

“W-Wait, Chris! Just give it back!”

Paul panicked, trying to grab the phone, but Chris was already browsing his image gallery, his eyes looking all over it.

“Ohhh, I bet you got—huh?”

However, Chris was surprised that he didn’t find porn or hentai, but there were a lot of pictures apparently uploaded from the cloud into Paul’s phone from his time gaming.

And they were all pictures of him with Chris doing different things. Some of the town, the monsters, the people, and also the Vlad’s Vampire Family.

“Eh? I thought you would have some lewd stuff; what is this? Aren’t you way too cute, Paul? Photos? Really?!”

“Just give it back already.”

Paul felt embarrassed, using some of his strength and quickly grabbing Chris arm, then taking back his phone.

“Okay, sorry, don’t get mad, geez~”

Chris smiled back at Paul, patting his shoulders.

“I had no idea you treasured those little moments so much, ahah. Maybe I should take more pictures myself; I only film stuff when something cool is happening.”

“Ah, um… Yeah, right, have you uploaded more videos?”

“Yeah, I just uploaded a bunch last night... Let me see.”

Chris quickly looked at his phone, checking his channel, only for his eyes to widen.

“T-The hell?”

“What?”

“Um… Look.”

Chris showed Paul his phone. What was shown was their channel, and in there were the videos he had uploaded yesterday. In a matter of hours, perhaps less than 12 hours, the videos had gathered a tremendous quantity of likes and views.

From the battles against the Raid Bosses to the dragon and the bandit invaders, monster hunting, bandit hunting, and everything else, including a last video with fragments of Paul fighting Shamir.

The Titles of each video were shown with the number of views, likes, and dislikes.

[Fantasy Story Online Unique Events: Fighting the First Ever Raid Bosses! Unexpected Ending?!] [Views: 2.853.000] [Likes: 923.222] [Dislikes: 6.847]

“Um, are these numbers real?”

Paul was shocked beyond belief!

And above all…

“You’re really good with titles; what the hell are these?”

“Heh, aren’t I? Yeah, you have to make titles like this to bait all the views.”

“That’s so amazing, though…”

“The views keep increasing by the hundreds per second,” said Chris. “These aren’t even final numbers. Expect at least over ten million views per video, or even more? We’re perhaps the only ones out there showing such unique content to the people, after all.”

“I bet the Bandit and Thief hunting is popular too,” Paul said.

"Yes, it’s getting a lot of comments from very happy people,” laughed Chris. “We’ve become their saviors pretty much; they had been victims of all those bandits and thieves we hunted.”

“That’s really nice,” smiled Paul. “Are you monetizing it?”

“Yeah, it’s already with ads…” said Chris. “So I’m going to start earning big time… A-And of course, we’ll share it too!”

“Haha, sure,” smiled Paul. “Thanks for doing all that, Chris. Must been a lot of work.”

“It sure was, man! Ugh… Ah, the classes are starting,” sighed Chris.

“Did you do your homework?” wondered Paul, taking out his notebook.

“…”

Chris suddenly froze.

“You didn’t…”

“Paul, please?”

“Ah, come on…”

“Pretty please? I’ll do anything for you; let me copy your homework quickly! The teacher’s about to start checking!”

“Ah, fine…”

Unable to resist Chris cute pleas for help, Paul quickly let him copy the homework, which was important as they were points for a future exam.

Like that, in between chatting about the game, going to eat at the cafeteria, and other things, it was roughly 3 PM, and everyone was already moving back home.

“So see you in FSO?” wondered Paul, trying to not be so clingy like before; he had not even tried hugging or kissing Chris the entire day.

“Yeah… Wait, come with me first…” Chris held Paul’s hand.

“Huh? Chris?”

At the end, Chris ended up dragging him to the men’s bathroom, or, well, one of the many; this one was empty.

“Come...”

Chris smiled lasciviously at Paul, the same smile he had given him before when he gave him his “reward” a few days ago.

“C-Chris?”

At the end, the two ended up inside the bathroom stall, as Paul felt nervous about what this little incubus was planning.

“What? I’m going to give you your reward now~”

“Hm?!”

Paul was surprised as Chris started kissing him passionately, having to stand on his toes because he was a bit smaller than him.

He didn’t really reject the offer anyway, happily making out with him; his warm tongue and sloppy kisses were addictive.

And then he felt something: Chris touching his crotch.

“Ooh, you’re already hard, nice~”

Paul’s breathing became heavier and heavier.

The thrill of doing this in a public space, especially a bathroom…

If they were to get caught, they would definitely be in trouble!

“So what do you want me to do~?” Chris said. “I told you I would do anything for you~!”

“A-Anything?”
