Chapter 1: The Fate of Sothis

世界本一片虚无，因为有了一道道源初之光划破虚无，汇聚成了一条宏伟的光阴长河，因此世界有了宇的概念，

The world was once a void, until the primordial light pierced through the nothingness, gathering into a magnificent river of time, and thus the concept of the universe was born.

而时间又催生出了宙，同时着，长河流淌的地方虚无便会消退，世界虚无快速地被长河驱赶着，

And time gave birth to the concept of space, and wherever the river of time flowed, the void receded, quickly being pushed away by the river.

一块块既定空间随之生成，它们填补了虚无，也因此，宇诞生在这空间中。

Space began to form piece by piece, filling the void, and thus the universe was born in this space.

宇宙的出现使虚变为实，使混沌变为秩序，使无望变为希望。

The appearance of the universe turned the void into substance, chaos into order, and hopelessness into hope.

命运也是因为宇宙的诞生而附有它的意义。

Fate, too, gained its meaning because of the birth of the universe.

当宇宙还处在出生婴儿之际，命运还没有那么实质，那时候的命运外表像是一个小小的透明摸不着的麻雀蛋，

When the universe was still in its infant stages, fate was not yet substantial; at that time, fate appeared like a small, transparent, intangible sparrow's egg.

随着宇宙的慢慢发育，雀蛋也从透明变为颜色深暗幽紫，体积也从麻雀蛋逐渐涨到鸵鸟蛋，

As the universe slowly developed, the sparrow's egg changed from transparent to a dark purple color, and its size gradually grew from that of a sparrow's egg to an ostrich's egg.

没人知道这蛋最后要长到多大，在这蛋还没有破壳还在日益成长之时，世界熔生百态，生物没有繁殖这一说，他们的诞生都源于生命熔炉，

No one knew how big this egg would eventually grow. As the egg continued to grow, the world was born with all kinds of life forms, which did not reproduce in the usual sense, but were born from the furnace of life.

这些熔炉创造着白云青烟，也创造着强大的生灵，有飞天狮鹫，还有吞天的巨翼飞蟒等等，生命熔炉下的万物，没有种族性别之分，更没有那种集体的荣誉与背叛的感觉，只有战斗，杀死敌人，饱饮他们的血液。

These furnaces created white clouds and green smoke, as well as powerful beings like griffins and enormous winged serpents that could swallow the sky. In the furnace of life, there was no distinction of race or gender, nor any sense of collective honor or betrayal, only battle, killing enemies, and drinking their blood.

被杀死的生灵，他们的灵魂回归熔炉化为锻造新生灵的养料。

The souls of the slain beings returned to the furnace, becoming nourishment for the forging of new life.

熔炉一天天的变多，生灵也逐渐多了起来，它们遍及世界。

The furnaces grew day by day, and the life forms gradually multiplied, spreading across the world.

生灵们好像早已沉浸在这繁荣与混乱的时代中，以至于没有生灵注意那天上的犹如太阳一般雄壮的紫色巨蛋，

The beings seemed to be immersed in this prosperous and chaotic era, so much so that none noticed the majestic purple giant egg in the sky, which resembled the sun.

待到巨蛋膨胀到散发的紫光笼罩整个宇的时候，蛋裂了，

When the giant egg expanded, its purple light covering the entire universe, the egg cracked.

巨蛋崩裂开数千万块碎壳，碎壳如流星划破天际，最终融入大地，随着碎壳融入的同时，

The giant egg shattered into tens of millions of pieces, with the shards streaking across the sky like meteors, eventually merging into the earth, and as the shards merged,

生命熔炉却一个个相继破裂，直到最后一个熔炉的破裂宣告者熔炉时代的结束。

当时所有生命看向那由紫色构成的天际，它们清楚地看到那是一个外形如直立猿的一个生物，

浑身洁白如玉，只有头上有长长的毛发。祂的名字叫做索蒂斯，祂一出生便知道自己的名字，也清楚自己的使命。

Its body was pure white like jade, with long hair atop its head. Its name was Sothis, and from the moment it was born, it knew its name and its mission.

从今开始，命运开始主掌生命，所有生物都应要有性别之分，所有新的生命都逃不过种族的束缚，那些试图反抗的熔炉时代的余孽应得天雷的的洗礼，世界进入命运时代。

From now on, fate began to govern life. All beings must have gender, and all new life would be bound by race. Those who tried to resist would receive the baptism of heavenly thunder, and the world entered the era of fate.

人类就是在命运时代下诞生的产物，人类实在是太能繁衍了，

这导致人类数量众多，而且人类的外貌与索蒂斯太过相像，于是人类得到命运犹如母亲般的宠爱，

一天有人类对索蒂斯说道：“伟大的命运之神，你需要掌管着世间千千万万个生灵的命运，这样会使您劳累，我实在不忍心看到大人您这般辛苦。”

One day, a human said to Sothis, "Great god of fate, you must manage the fate of countless beings, and this will tire you. I cannot bear to see you so weary."

索蒂斯说道：“凡人，有你这心我便可欣慰了。”

Sothis replied, "Mortal, your concern comforts me."

凡人道：“神啊，可否让我代您来掌管一些和我一样的人类？”

The mortal asked, "God, could I take over the management of some of the humans like myself?"

索蒂斯迟疑道：“这样人族还会受到命运的控制么？”

最后索蒂斯答应了这位凡人的要求，祂将手中众多的命运之气交于这位凡人，

祂自己手中独留着一份命运之气——就是眼前这位凡人的。凡人看着手中的这些淡紫色气体，这就是主掌他人的命运吗？

leaving only a portion of fate's power in her own hands—the portion belonging to the mortal standing before her. The mortal looked at the faint purple gas in his hands, wondering, "Is this the power to control others' fates?"

“凡人，你叫什么？”索蒂斯好奇的问。

"Mortal, what is your name?" Sothis asked curiously.

那凡人邪邪的笑道：“大人，我的名字有很多，以前他们叫我国王或者贵族，现在他们叫我地主或者资本家，但在以后他们只能叫我伟大的企业家或者救世主了。大人这多亏了你呀！”

The mortal smiled slyly and said, "Great one, I have many names. They used to call me king or noble, now they call me landlord or capitalist, but in the future, they will call me the great entrepreneur or savior. It is all thanks to you, my lord!"

索蒂斯有了一个新的烦恼，祂可以轻易的看穿别的生灵的命运，因为在命运时代所有生灵的命运都是由她或者贵族国王亲自书写的，

Sothis had a new worry. She could easily see through the fates of other beings, as in the era of fate, all beings' fates were written by her or by the kings and nobles personally,

可祂自己的命运呢？祂不知道。祂问询元素之神伊兹帕鲁特，元素之神也不知道索蒂斯的命运是什么样的，

but what about her own fate? She didn't know. She asked the element god Izparut, but he too didn't know what her fate looked like,

祂又去询问虚空之神艾斯，虚空之神艾斯回道：“每个生灵都会回归虚无的，虚无就是你的命运。”索蒂斯不相信这个心中只有虚无的老骗子，

She then asked the void god Ais, who replied, "Every being will return to the void, and the void is your fate." Sothis did not believe the old liar who spoke of nothingness,

祂继续在天地宇宙间寻找，终于祂在未来界中找到了死之神米尔寇，他是为已经选定性别的神，

在看到米尔寇的第一眼索蒂斯就无法自拔了，米尔寇也是瞬间就爱上了这位掌握命运的主神。

“米尔寇大人您知道我的命运么？如果您知道的话请告诉我吧，我愿与你永世的在一起。”

米尔寇微微一笑像一位温柔的绅士，他道：“你不知道自己的命运是因为你还没有选择自己的性别，没有性别又怎么会知道自己的命运呢？”

Milco smiled gently like a true gentleman and said, "You do not know your fate because you haven't chosen your gender yet. How could you know your fate without it?"

索蒂斯这才醒悟，祂立马将自己的性别改为女性，此刻她终于看清了自己的命运是什么。是什么呢？原来就是眼前这位主掌死亡的米尔寇。

Sothis suddenly realized and immediately changed her gender to female. At that moment, she finally understood her fate—it was to be with Milco, the god of death.

原来就算是神最终的结局也都是死亡啊。

It turns out that even gods eventually face death.

索蒂斯与米尔寇的恋情传遍整个世间，所有生灵都在庆祝，唯有其他的众神没有庆祝，

The love story between Sothis and Milco spread throughout the world, and all beings celebrated, but the other gods did not.

命运和死亡之神就算是在主神中都是数一数二的存在，如今他们在一起势必会影响到其他诸神的统治。

某天一位不知是贵族还是地主的人跪在米尔寇身前，旁边则是跪着一位贫民。

那贵族求饶道：“我这一生都在敬仰着神明，每年都会祭祀，牛羊数千头，金银百万两得以贡神明，请大人来世还将我投入富贵人家。”

The nobleman begged, "I have spent my life worshiping the gods, sacrificing thousands of cattle and sheep, and offering millions in gold and silver. Please, in the next life, let me be reborn into a wealthy family."

一边的贫民不乐意了：“大人！因为他饿死了多少人啊~！他将原本属于我的土地占为己有还叫嚣着什么天授君权，他还将我勤劳所得尽数收起，我就连吃饱都是奢侈，他却将谷物烧了取暖也不还给我，这种人应该去十八层地狱！”

The poor person protested, "My lord! He has caused so many to starve! He took the land that was rightfully mine, and claims divine right to rule. He hoards my hard-earned wealth while I can't even afford to eat, and he burns grain for warmth without sharing it with us! This man should be condemned to the deepest hell!"

“贵族，你为何宁愿祭祀敬仰鬼神来积攒功德，却不肯将多余的粗粮贱米顺手还给底层的贫民？”米尔寇不解的问道。

贵族笑着说道“伟大的死亡之神，你到时候会知道原因的。”

The nobleman laughed and said, "Great god of death, you will understand the reason in time."

米尔寇最终将这位贫民投入到富贵人家中，将这位贵族打入这世间最为贫穷的人家里。

Milco eventually sent the poor man into a wealthy family and cast the nobleman into the poorest family on earth.

米尔寇默默地注视着，结果让他大为感慨，那位投到富贵人家的人类对待百姓十分友好，

Milco silently observed, and was greatly moved. The man placed in the wealthy family treated the common people with great kindness.

他将祭祀所用的米面金银都散发给那些上辈子如他一样贫穷的贫民，因为他即使是最严寒的冬天，也没有一位贫民因此死亡，

He distributed all the offerings of rice, flour, and gold to the poor who had been as poor as he once was, ensuring that no poor person died from hunger, even in the harshest winters.

即使是最干旱的灾年，也没有一位贫民因此饿死，可是命运不公，

他被其他贵族地主所排斥，最后他被安了一个莫须有的罪名，最终被五马分尸。

He was rejected by other nobles and landowners, falsely accused, and eventually torn apart by five horses.

而那个投胎到最贫穷家庭的人类呢，他的运气是出奇的好，先是被一位贵族所赏识，认他作为义子，然后又被一国的公主所相中做了一国的驸马。

就这样，原本欣欣向荣的国家在他临死的时候已经是快要亡国的模样。

可这又有什么关系呢？来世他还是富贵人家。

米尔寇看到这里立刻去找索蒂斯理论。

“他才是一个彻头彻尾的坏人，他不敬仰神明，将贡品赐予贱民，这不是侮辱神明吗？如果我不惩罚他，那这个世界还有哪个生灵会臣服于命运的脚下？”

"He was the truly wicked one. He disrespected the gods and gave offerings to the lowly, isn't that an insult to the gods? If I don't punish him, what being in this world would bow to the will of fate?"

米尔寇呆了很久，很久。

Milco was silent for a long, long time.
