What created the universe?
According to the Ewardana people, it was the Primordial Light that gave birth to the world we know.
But what exactly is the Primordial Light?
This question has troubled humanity for ages. Even the wisest of the elemental gods, Izparut, has pondered it for millennia without finding an answer, and even Fate is confused by it.
This existential question has truly left the gods perplexed, yet they are not embarrassed by their ignorance,
The mysteries that the gods cannot solve are like the stars in the sky—no matter how bright they are, what does it matter if they can't solve it? As long as no other gods can either, aren't they all the same?
Izparut thought this way, and so did the other gods, even the mortals living in the world thought the same.
But there was one god who thought differently—he was the god of flames and forging, his name was Luen.
Most people were unaware of this god's existence, mainly because he spent all his time hammering copper and forging iron in his shabby cave.
Luen appeared as a giant, sturdy dwarf-like goblin, with a goat's head and horns that emitted searing molten flames.
This ugly appearance only earned him mockery from the gods. Izparut refused to answer any of his questions,
The god of equality, Simis, mocked him for wearing a goat's headpiece,
The god of mischief, Kizami, called him the greatest absurd clown in the world,
Even the seemingly indifferent god of fate, Sotis, considered him a remnant of the furnace era and vowed to erase him.
Only the god of death, Milco, was willing to befriend this honest and humble deity.
Milco noticed that Luen had only done two things since his birth: one was to forge iron carefree in his dilapidated cave, creating strange and odd trinkets, and the other was to sit by the fire and ponder quietly.
“Fool, what are you thinking about?”
Luen snapped out of his thoughts upon hearing Milco’s question and replied, “I was thinking about that matter.”
“What matter?”
“The Primordial Light.”
“You really are a fool!” Milco laughed heartily. Luen wasn’t offended. He had long been accustomed to ridicule and denial, and Milco was his only friend.
“How dare you solve the riddle that even Izparut cannot solve?”
“Hmph, is he so clever? When I ask him questions, he doesn’t know either!”
“That’s because he doesn’t want to deal with you. He’s looking down on you,” Milco thought, but decided not to say it aloud. If he did, it would probably make this fool feel miserable for quite a while.
“Well, think it through. I believe you can do it.”
The old goat looked at his kind friend and said, “I believe in you too.”
“Believe in me for what?”
The old goat said nothing and went back to hammering the iron.
And so, a thousand years passed.
“Fool, you should stop hammering that broken iron. I can feel you growing weaker, and your followers are dwindling.”
The old goat was still there, in his dilapidated cave, hammering and pondering.
Another thousand years passed.
“Fool! If you keep this up, you’ll die!”
Luen was so weak he barely resembled a god anymore. His followers had nearly all disappeared. Yes, only people as foolish as him would follow a god who didn’t grant blessings, and how many such people could there be in the world?
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
Finally, the heavens did not forsake him. Just as he was about to die, and on the brink of despair, Luen finally understood the meaning of the Primordial Light—it was hope!
It was hope! It was hope that filled the void, and it was hope that created the world.
Milco was pleased and happy for Luen’s awakening. This fool could finally expand his followers.
Just as the two gods were rejoicing, Izparut, far in the distance, felt both shocked and angry.
Through the fire elements, he learned of Luen's discovery.
He was shocked by the immense vitality contained in the Primordial Light, and he was furious that it was Luen who had discovered it.
Why was he angry?
How could such a world-changing discovery fall into the hands of this dead goat?
How did he get so lucky?
This discovery should have been mine! That's right! It was Izparut’s great discovery!
A god who doesn’t consider his followers shouldn’t even exist.
Izparut was the first to spread the true meaning of the Primordial Light to the gods, and they all praised the wisdom of the god of elements.
"Your wisdom is truly unmatched, a one-of-a-kind in all of existence!"
Milco was furious upon hearing the news and sought out the god of mischief to tell him it was Luen’s discovery.
The god of mischief said it was not a good joke, and then he spoke with the god of equality, who mocked him as a conspicuous clown,
Finally, he spoke to his wife, Sotis.
Sotis said, "I can’t believe you, I can’t trust you. Do you understand, Milco?"
Milco sneered, "I understand. Just because you have a grudge against him, you can deny everything about him, and speak lies with your eyes closed?"
Milco left. This was the first time he had been completely disappointed with his wife, and the last time.
He went to Luen’s cave again, and in the end, he was just a lonely, pitiful creature.
The old goat was still hammering, “Why are you still hammering?”
He said, "This is the last one. I’m going to forge a weapon."
“What do you need a weapon for? You don’t need to fight.”
“I prefer to be alone, so there will be fewer meaningless casualties. The other gods don’t understand me, and I need a weapon to carry out justice.”
“Fool, calm down. Let me at least accompany you.”
Luen shook his heavy goat head and said, "I don’t need companions. It’s just a wall that traps us together. If all goes well, our paths will never cross again."
Luen left his cave alone. Before he departed, he created round, coin-like objects that emitted the same essence as Luen.
“What’s this?”
Luen glanced back at his old friend one last time, infusing his final warmth into that glance, then resolutely walked away.
Luen arrived before Izparut, where many gods had gathered to assist.
“You fool, why aren’t you staying in your shabby hole forging iron, and how dare you come here?”
"Which god gave you the audacity, is it that fool Milco like you? Ha ha."
The god of equality, Simis, mocked him mercilessly,
Although Sotis was right beside her, it was well known that the relationship between the two was far from good. From her mocking of Milco, there was no emotion left in Sotis as his wife.
Luen waited for the gods to finish their harsh words, then he spoke.
"I once had followers, they did their best, now it's my turn to do mine."
After speaking, Luen raised his mountain-like giant hammer and struck Izparut. The gods didn’t react in time. They couldn’t imagine that something so meek in the past dared to strike against the world’s chief god.
Izparut didn’t expect it either, as the hammer struck him heavily to the ground. He spat out a mouthful of blood, and his chest caved in. He was stunned. His power, that which belonged to the elements, and the wisdom sought by all living beings was visibly draining.
"What have you done!" Izparut roared.
Luen said nothing. He continued to swing his hammer.
The gods reacted and rushed to stop him.
But they were just like Izparut, each of them taking a blow, and they all realized that their divine power was rapidly draining, except for Sotis.
It turned out that Luen was extracting their divine power and turning it into round coins, materializing the abstract into the tangible. This was the new technique he had developed over the thousands of years.
Luen’s injuries were severe, and he was close to death. But he had one final task to accomplish. He used all his remaining divine power to swing the giant hammer, which moved like a battle flag in the air. The light of hope flooded into the hammer, which shone brighter than the sun.
"Don’t let him succeed!"
The gods struck together, but at that moment, Luen had already fallen. He plummeted from the sky into the mortal realm, his giant hammer falling with him into a cliff.
The giant hammer shattered the coins imbued with divine power, and thus, the divine power seeped into the mortal world.
The elemental power allowed humans to receive the rewards of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, as well as wind, rain, and lightning, even without offering worship to the elemental gods.
The power of strength gave humans the desire for rebellion. The light of hope covered the mortal world, awakening humanity. They no longer lived in ignorance; they began to think and to rebel.
They attributed all this achievement to the great god of flames and forging—Luen.
They named the coins imbued with divine power after him.
Luen, a god who had no followers in life, but became a god with followers after his death.
