Hey guy's , here's today's chapter. I would also really appreciate it if you guys reviewed and rated my fiction. Thanks
There were two reasons as to why Dusk was really excited on this day. The first one was that, a few hours ago, he had just discovered that Stream had gained a new affinity. Her new affinity was , quite surprisingly, water. Even Dusk himself was quite surprised at his the unconscious foresight that he had when he gave her the name Stream..
Water in itself had two advantages. While fire was an agent of destruction, water was both an agent of attack and an agent of comfort. Water could both be used to nurture and heal injuries in its fluid form, and used to attack in both its fluid and ice form.
The second reason as to why Dusk was really happy was that, just a few minutes earlier as he was sitting and meditating with Stream, his mother had come to inform them that tomorrow they would leave for the empress’s palace. As all queens had been called to convene. Naturally, jade, as the queen of Empiria would need to attend too.
Because she didn’t feel at all comfortable leaving Dusk alone at home, and because it was allowed, she opted to bring Dusk along with her. Thus, Dusk naturally felt elated that he would be leaving the palace to go to a place he had never been before.
While it may not seem like that much of an accomplishment, it indeed was. Why? Because while regular people knew of the existence of the empress, none of them knew where she lived. Only the queens of the different kingdoms were aware of where she resided. Thus, for Dusk, being able to go to the empress’s palace even before adulthood was to be considered an achievement. Even though it was only by luck.
That night before Dusk went to bed, he had to prepare for tomorrow’s journey. For that reason, he wanted to set things straight. As Dusk had come to notice that he liked the color white, the complete opposite of what he saw whenever he opened his eyes, he asked his mother to prepare for him a set of white gowns. On most of these gowns, however, he had asked for silver linings. Although he could not see the colors themselves, he was able to observe the nature of the silver linings on the cloth as they were made from different materials from the rest of the white cloth. He quite liked the gowns with the linings as they matched his body perfectly.
One other thing that he also asked for was a white bamboo cane around the size of ¾ his height. While he himself knew that he could see through his radar, others did not. Thus, it would be very weird for others if he, a blind boy, walked around as though he could see everything like the back of his palm. Discretion was always best.
And so, on the next day, a white haired boy with hair long enough to reach his ankles was walking out of the palace while being led by his beautiful lady with one of her hands holding his own. On this boy’s other hand was a white bamboo cane and on his body was a white gown traced with silver linings. On his shoulder was a white small fox whose long tail was wrapped around his neck in a manner similar to a scarf.
The beautiful lady herself was also wearing a loose fitting female gown with her waist length hair was tied into a pony tail. She wore comfortable but elegant shoes and walked around with a grace that exuded motherly affection.
These two were naturally Dusk and his mother. As this Journey would be quite a long distance, all the way from the center of the continent where the capital was located to the an island at the center of the great Espian lake where the Empress’s residence was located at, they were prepared to travel for a long time and had naturally packed up quite a bit in their mother’s interspatial ring (another invention of the esteemed space affinity experts).
This journey was going to be rather long. For that reason, Dusk’s mother had opted to use the one means of transportation that she always used whenever she went to the empress’s place, her loyal wyvern. A wyvern was a creature that largely resembled a dragon but was not. This creature had been found and tamed by Dusk’s mom the one time that she went to venture into the forest.
Unlike dragons, while their strength was not up to much, their speed was the real deal. For this reason, jade had opted to use it as a means of transport. The wyvern’s appearance was quite peculiar. It had a dragon’s head, a long streamlined body (about 20 meters long), one pair of legs and two wings with a long wingspan. It looked just like the perfect creature specialized for flight.
Considering the fact that the location of the empress’s palace was a secret, the two of them made sure to go alone. And so, on the wyvern’s wide back, Dusk was seated in Jade’s embrace while Jade was seated on the wyvern’s back.
While Dusk could tell that his mother had grown really attached to him, he didn’t really mind. He in fact enjoyed it as he always loved to feel his mother’s affection. The other reason as to why Dusk was in his mother’s embrace at the moment was so that she could shroud him in her mana. The purpose of this was to nullify the impact of the wind hitting at them as they were traveling at high speeds.
“Dusk, baby, I know that you’re a really good boy but remember to behave yourself okay? The empress is a really important person, even more than mama. She is really strong too so you need to show her respect, okay?” His mother advised.
“Yes mama, Dusk will behave himself perfectly and will make people respect mama even more. Even if Dusk cannot see, he will try his best not to get in other people’s way.” Dusk responded. He always liked to show his childish side when he was with his mother. Whenever he talked to her, he would always refer to himself in the third person. It was just a force of habit.
“Aah, my baby is such a good boy. I couldn’t have asked for a better son. And remember, Dusk, while you’re a little different from other people it’s because your’e special okay? So mama will make sure that no one teases my baby boy. You’re my special little baby, okay?”
“Yes mom, Dusk understands and loves you very much.” Dusk replied. He just couldn’t explain how much affection he felt for this mother of his who had taken care of him. He had, in fact, at some point just felt so guilty, that he decided to disclose to his mother that he could ‘see’, and how he could do it. While his mother didn’t quite understand his explanation, she had been both surprised and happy. This, however, was a secret that was to be kept only within the family, without any one else knowing.
“Mama loves you too Dusk.” She replied in a happy affectionate voice.
Throughout the journey that took eight days, they would often land in deserted places and set up camp whenever they wanted to sleep. The wyvern would always stretch its body around the camp in form of a fence so that it could rest too. As they were traveling, Stream, like the child she was, was incredibly restless. She would often ask ‘are we there yet?’ ‘How long to go? I’m so excited’ in her cute fox language that only Dusk understood. And like always, apart from on the last day, she always got the same answer.

While talking to stream, Dusk would often times look quite silly, however, since his mother knew what was going on, she often times let it pass, though a little sad that she was being left out.
On the day that they arrived on the Empress’s island, Dusk was, in all honesty, shocked. While he could understand why this place had not yet been discovered, it was after all only a small island on the enormous Espian lake, a place where no sane person would dare, or even be able to venture, he could not help but gasp internally at the splendor of this place.
The island on which they landed was approximately twice the size of the Empiria capital. With Dusk’s current range, he could detect the whole island and that they were currently flying above and that was what made him surprised.
This island, even with all its magnitude, housed only approximately 40 people. Of those forty, he could tell that all of them were inside the palace that was located at the centre of this great island. From the clothes they were wearing, he could tell that some of them were either guards or maids. The others, he couldn’t tell as they were wearing normal clothing.
The palace itself was designed in such a manner that it was located amid a large pool of water at the center of the island. It was indeed quite strange. It was like a lake inside a lake, pretty weird. On that minor island within the minor lake was a large palace, almost 1.5times the size of their own. Around the building itself were beautiful flowers and gardens and on the other side of the minor lake was a tropical forest with tall trees and lively animals. This was indeed the stuff of legend.
Once they landed on the small island, they were ushered in by two guards, one male and one female. While they both carried the demeanor of stoic soldiers, he could tell that, to the man, it came quite naturally while to the lady it had required multitudes of training.
All in all, it was nice to finally meet a male person and be talked to personally. It raised a feeling of familiarity within him. The moment the two saw Dusk and his mother, you could tell that they were surprised as their breathing quickened for a moment. However, they weren’t the Empress’s guards for nothing as they almost instantly recovered their composure and ushered Dusk and his mother in.
“Welcome, Jade Moonlight, Queen of the Kingdom of Empiria. And I presume your….son?. You are the first of the six queens to arrive and so we will lead you to your place of rest as prepared by the empress. You can leave the wyvern in our care.”
“Thank you, we will leave the wyvern to you, feed it well. And yes, this is my son, Dusk Moonlight. No cause for worry though, as we will be sleeping in the same room, you can just lead us there together.”
“Yes Queen Jade.” The man answered.
The room that they were lead to was in the inner chambers of the palace. Through his sense, Dusk had noticed that while the outer chamber of the palace was filled with guards and maids, the inner was not. It was almost empty. Apart from them, there were only four other presences, three ladies and one male. And so, at this moment, Dusk was being led hand in hand by his mother to the place that they would sleep for the night within the inner chambers.
Not long after, they arrived at a fancy looking door with gold inscriptions. As soon as they arrived at this place, the two guards handed them the key, bowed, and left. Inside, the room looked all the more fancy. It had one big bed inside, a balcony that faced the flower garden, and most pompous of all, a jacuzzi looking mechanism. This room was just too fabulous.
Since all three of them,Dusk, Jade and Stream, were all tired and had not slept well for a while, they immediately all bathed and went to sleep on the same bed. That night, Stream slept while being cuddled by Dusk, who slept while being cuddled by Jade. It was indeed a comfortable experience as they all slept like logs.
From the time they arrived all till now, the time they woke up, they had not gone to greet the empress yet, thus they decided to do so now. After dressing themselves, with Stream coming to her normal position on Dusk’s shoulder with her tail around his neck, and Dusk holding his walking stick in one hand, they left the room.
Upon exiting the room, they met a twenty five year old looking lady with long curly hair, an ample bust, and a tight fitting elegant dress. The lady was holding the hand of a girl that was seemingly a miniature version of herself. While Dusk had already detected the lady, he presumed her to be minding her own business. He had the option of checking her memories, however, he found it uncourteous to do so to someone who he had no relation to. Unfortunately, while Dusk presumed the lady to just be minding her own business, it seemed that she had other plans because the moment Dusk and his mom left the room, she opened her mouth to speak.
“Hohoho, if it isn’t Jade the baby and her pale blind midget.”
The moment Dusk heard these words, he could feel the anger in his mother welling up. While he did not know where the lady knew either him or the fact that he was blind from, he was not quite surprised because she was a queen after all. If she didn’t have the information, then who did.
At this point, the anger in his mother had reached a climax.
“Queen Onaho Riketing, you dare insult this lady’s precious son, are you looking for a fight?” His mother replied in fumes.
Just as his mother was about to fire a spell towards her, Dusk tightened his grip on his mother’s hand and spoke to calm her down. It would be a real problem if a fight broke out in the empress’s palace and the one responsible for starting it was his mother. He wasn’t even all that offended after all, and it would be best to let this slide.
“It’s okay mom, just ignore her. Its best to not waste our energy for nothing” Dusk replied.
He didn’t know why, but Dusk could tell that as soon as he uttered those words, while his mother seemed to calm down, the other lady seemed to have taken on her anger.
“Ooh, this is going to be a problem.” Dusk thought to himself.
