Sorry guys, yesterday university life hit me like a b*tch so i was unable to post two chapters. Good thing is today i will be free so I will definitely deliver two chapters. Soo, here you go.
Again, sorry guys.
Dusk was quite excited to be leaving the house. As he was near a breakthrough in understanding the nature of inanimate waves, he felt that going outside would help him consolidate that understanding.
At the moment, only Seria, Sunny and Dusk were standing outside the main door of the palace. Seria and Sunny, yes, Dusk, not so much. As Dusk could not walk on his own completely yet, he had to be carried by Seria.
Dusk had wanted his mother to come with them, unfortunately, she was quite busy with office work so she was unable to attend. Surprisingly, before he noticed, Dusk had grown quite attached to his mom.
Since it would draw a lot of attention if he went outside normally, Seria had dressed Dusk in a small hoodie. One that was able to cover all his hair and part of his face. As this society did not have to focus on food production, they had quite advanced in some areas such as clothing and housing. So it was not strange to see hoodies and many other types of clothes.
The moment they left the palace grounds, Dusk was quite surprised to find out that it was quite silent. Even though he could use waves to detect presences, both animate and inanimate, he could not hear sound unless he was close to the place. I mean, his hearing may have been good, but it was not outright ungodly.
Dusk, however, had a speculation as to why this place may have been quiet. This place was still within the one kilometer radius, the place where the building were pompous. Since he felt that the people that live here must be people of importance, this was most likely a high class neighborhood. And naturally, since most high class neighborhoods tend to be silent, it was not strange for this place to be too.
As if sensing his curiosity, Seria began to give an explanation. Even though Sunny had been talking every once in a while throughout the trip, Seria had not spoken even once.
“Baby bro, this is where the high class people live, be it high ranking government officials, Doorfables members or anyone else, you could always find them here.”
“Well that answers that question.” Dusk thought to himself
As soon as they walked through the inner circle for a while, they stepped out to the outer circle. The three of them did not need much protection because Seria was an A rank. Coupled with the fact that her mother was an S rank, a very difficult feat to achieve, very few people would try to get an upper hand on either of the three of them.
As they approached the outer circle, Dusk continually heard voices growing louder and louder. By the time they actually entered the outer circle, Dusk was amazed at how different this place was from the inner city. This place was a hub of activity.
There were people talking all over the place about different things, some were discussing business, others were talking about their houses… You couldn’t miss a single subject of which was not being conversed. While Dusk noticed that most of the voices were female, he ignored it because he knew that this race tended to have rather few males.
As they walked around, he was surprised to hear people selling magic swords, beast cores and the like. From his estimations, he assumed that that this outer city must be a mix between a residential area and a shopping district, which explained the bustle of activity.
The more they walked around, the more Dusk had been feeling his understanding of inanimate waves increase, and right at this moment when he extended his small hand to youth a sword that a lady at a stall had been selling, he finally gained complete understanding.
At this moment, Dusk could now differentiate between granite and obsidian even though two of them of the same size were put close together. At this time he was not like in the past where he could only differentiate a rock and a chair based on the shape, he could now differentiate the materials of each individual object.
However, while he could differentiate between different materials, he could not alter the shape or structure of any materials. All he could do was see, not touch. After all, inanimate waves were just too haphazard in nature. He felt he would never be able to control them.
While Dusk could control all the waves within his body, he assumed that the only waves he would be able to control outside his body during his lifetime were the long term memory waves. While he could understand the inanimate waves, he knew that was all he would be able to do. Understand but not control.
The others (the short term memory waves, the world waves and the nerve waves), he knew he would be able to detect, but not able to control. And even if he managed to, that would be many years from now. He had been trying to reduce the speed by which these waves moved, however, no matter how much he tried, they never seemed to slow down. So his only option was to be able to detect them while not controlling them.
While it may not sound to be of much benefit being only able to detect these waves, it was in fact very advantageous. By detecting the world waves, Dusk was able to see around him. This was what enabled him to see to his range of 3.1 Kilometers.
Through the detection of short term waves he would be able to tell how strong someone’s mind is. It was only natural that smarter people could think of more things at once. Hence the more short term memory brain waves one possesses at a particular time, the more likely, the smarter that person was.
And through the nerve waves, Dusk could be able to detect the internal constitution of another living being.
So in total, at the moment, even though Dusk could not see, within his range, he was able to view all living and non-living objects. While he could not accurately view the faces of living beings, he could view their body shape and read through their memories. While he could alter their memories, he could only add as much memories as the mind was able to support. When it came to deleting memories, he could only delete some, as after some point of deletion, the brain seemed to detect the interference and put itself on lock down by instinct.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Though the time it took him to read through someone’s memories was only a few seconds, almost instantly, he could only read through one person’s memories at a time. Hence if he wanted to read through the memories of say 100 people, he would need a few minutes.
After walking through the outer circle for around three hours. Dusk had heard a lot of interesting conversations. While some were funny, others were boring, and others were just outright disturbing. There were always different people in the world after all. All in all, he had enjoyed this experience.
During the tour of the outer circle, even though they knew that he could not see, both Seria and Sunny took it upon themselves to explain what different places were and what they specialized in. Some blacksmiths, others tailors shops. All in all, this place was diverse.
At the moment, they were at the city gate, at the far edge of the city. Seria had suggested that they go outside the city gates for a short while so that Dusk could be able to experience the feeling. Naturally, Dusk had no qualms about this, as a matter of fact, he was all for it.
He had sensed that outside these gates was a very vast grassland and naturally wanted to experience the feeling of being on a grassland for himself. Coming from modern earth where all the available space had been utilized for buildings and facilities, this was going to be new to him.
Once they stepped into the grassland, Dusk was quite amazed. While he knew what to expect, nothing beat the real deal. This was the feeling he always craved. The feeling of freedom. He swore to himself that once he was able to walk perfectly on his own, one of these days, he would return here.
After walking for about an hour through the grassland, just as they were about to return, Dusk sensed a surprisingly strong brainwave towards the end of his radar. This was the strongest brainwave he had sensed ever since he arrived onto this planet, even more so than his mother’s and his sisters’.
However, while its brainwaves were strong, the creature itself had quite a surprising body. Its body was in the shape of a fox. Not a normal fox, but a fox the size of a small kitten, approximately five centimeters long. Surprisingly, while its body was about five centimeters long, its tail was at least triple that length.
While Dusk had a speculation as to why such a strong feeling animal would be lying there in such a fragile condition, a quick peek at its memories confirmed his fears. While this creature had very few memories, it had the ones that count.
Apparently, this creature was the daughter of a nature fox, a creature he knew from his mother’s memories. While nature foxes were weak, they were rather smart. A full grown nature fox would most probably look like an ordinary fox, only with green fur and an approximate rank of D.
This fox before him, however, was one that even his mother did not know about. Apparently, it seemed to be a mutant of the nature fox with pure white fur and a really long tail. From the fox’s memories, its mother abandoned it once it saw its appearance. There is always discrimination wherever you go, I guess. It’s quite sad.
In as much as this fox had really strong brain waves, it was only a baby after all, so it naturally only had a rank of E. Dusk, feeling pity for the fox’s situation and feeling the potential of its development, decided that he must acquire it as his partner and take care of it. For that, he set his master plan into motion. Even though it may make him seem suspicious later on, it was a totally worthy venture.
And so, Dusk began to cry, he began to cry while pointing to the direction of the fox. Seria and Sunny, feeling perplexed seeing Dusk crying for the first time in his life, and for no reason at all, began to panic.
“Sunny, you’re a baby expert, do you know why he’s crying?” Seria asked.
“No, but we need to find a solution soon, otherwise once mom realizes that we made the baby bro that she loves so much cry, we’ll be done for. She’ll shred us into mincemeat and feed us to the pigeons for supper.” Sunny replied with an anxious look on her face.
“Yeah, mom can be quite scary at times. Well, baby bro seems to be pointing to that location, let’s go check it out.”
So they started walking towards the location that Dusk was pointing. The closer they got, the more relaxed they became because as they neared the location of the fox, Dusk’s cry seemed to reduce. Once he stopped crying completely, Seria and Sunny stopped as well.
Looking down to see a rather peculiar fox, Seria and Sunny were quite surprised.
“What animal is this?” Sunny asked.
“You tell me. But it seems like this is what baby bro wants.” Seria answered. She said that because, for the whole length of their conversation, Dusk had been stretching out his hands trying to grab the fox. Unfortunately, he was just too weak to get out of Seria’s embrace.
Sunny picked up the small fox carefully and handed it to Dusk. Since this fox was extremely light, even Dusk was able to carry it. Once he received the fox, Dusk seemed to be content and immediately stopped his movement.
And so, a lady carrying a baby who was carrying a fox and another lady, started their journey back home. Not one saying a word to the other. Throughout the journey home, Dusk hadn’t been concentrating on his sisters, he had been trying to think up a name of what he would name this little fox, his new companion.
