Chapter 14

“What did they do to you?” Maria cried out as she ran over to a burnt and bloodied Kevin.

Maria had just accepted Kevin’s party invite and was immediately teleported to his location. She was at a loss for words for how she found him. She wasn’t even sure how he had even lived with the significant injuries he had. He had been handcuffed and restraint. She managed to get him free from his bindings. She then checked his status screen to see what he needed. After she checked him over. She went to work with her healing.

Kevin told Maria what had happened to him as she began to heal him. He told her how he had gotten an overpowered ability to alter dungeons. Thanks to his ALTERED REALITY skill he could now transform dungeons. Kevin told her more and showed her how some of the abilities worked as she continued with her healing.

Kevin’s HP was at 10. He had informed her that is how much he was able to recover before she got here. Maria first cast HEAL 3 on Kevin. Within seconds his bloody cuts and burns were gone. She followed up with CLEANSED BLESSING on him. Even though the poison had stopped a while ago. Kevin still had the status as a debuff that could trigger with ease in his condition. Maria finally casted REGENERATION on him to restore his HP, MP, and STAMINA.

The one debuff she couldn’t get rid of was the permanent one that made all his base stats zero. This worried Maria after Kevin decided to tell her he was going to face Shadow Corps as the final boss. She ended up buffing him with everything she had at her disposal. GUARDIAN ANGEL was the first to be casted followed by

Maria had finished casting her spells on Kevin. He was impressed by how many spells she pumped out without breaking a sweat. She had ended up using only about 10 percent of her mana just to do it. Luckily Maria had been working on regenerating her mana after the last dungeon she ran with Kevin had left her completely depleted by the end. This time she was better prepared.

“I have a little surprise for you.” Kevin announced next after all the buffing. “While I was waiting here in agony, for what seemed like ages. I was messing around with more of the dungeon commands.” Kevin pulled up the dungeons creation menu to show Maria. “It turns out I can give party members buffs from a dungeon of my choosing. They are weak to start with though.” He pulled the screen to show her available options. He had already ended up picking them to Maria’s dismay.

She just stared at what Kevin had worked up. “I am impressed you were able to come up with this. It will make things easier. Although, having cartoon summons is a little too much for me.”

Kevin could only do so much with the skill level dungeon creator was at. His choices ended up with him picking five different summons that could help them fight the final battle. He ended up choosing Mac and Jim for heavy hitters. Ironically, they could summon the other five gangsters as additional summons. Although they would be much weaker than before. Then there was the final three from the fourth floor. He had Henry around to make traps and illusions for the final fight when summoned. Ozzy would give them the effect of disappearing and cancelling out debuffs. Where Billy was just another add the Shadow Corps would have to deal with.

They both finalized everything they needed for the final fight. Kevin had “The Slayer” Equipped to help him with his chance of survival. “Let’s just hope these guys don’t have any nasty tricks left.” Kevin said to Maria.

He hit the button on his HUD to start the final fight.

The twenty remaining members of Shadow Corps stepped into the fifth and final floor. They were not sure what to expect. The leader was being cautious wondering what the next trap or boss could be.

You have reached the boss room of the Physcotunes dungeon. No rewards will be granted for defeating the final boss.

The leader just grunted with frustration. The group was not getting any rewards for the kills or Xp. He was livid with the whole issue.

Everyone in the Shadow Corps group froze when a portal began to appear at the other end of the room. Two figures stepped out. The leader recognized both immediately.

“Well if it isn’t Maria and DF-1202. I’m surprised you were able to heal that fast. Well, that should be expected from someone like Maria.” The leader said as he looked them over.

Maria had frozen with fear when she found out who the leader of the group was. She was shocked to see Brad. Brad had been a good friend of hers in the past. At the time he was just like her playing in Dungeon Dwellers Go! People who just wanted to hang out. They both were going for a

Maria still couldn’t understand why Brad had joined Shadow Corps. Her fear soon faded away to rage as she recalled how she had found Kevin. She was determined to end Brad here. She had to take a deep breath. She couldn’t lose control of her emotions, or it would get her killed.

Maria stared at Kevin and nodded with their game plan. Maria quickly activated the assisted summons of Mac and Jim. As she began to cast. Brad gave the order to attack. The final fight was now on.

The fight had turned into udder pandemonium. Brad had ordered everyone to attack Kevin to try to finish him off first. He went for Maria first on his own. Brad soon realized his first mistake. Brad was easily able to keep up with Maria. His overconfidence is what had cost him.

Kevin was overwhelmed but was able to hold back on Brad’s goons. Kevin had hoped Brad would be tempted to throw everything he had at him. The summons came quickly as the first attack tried to land on Kevin. Instead of a 19 vs 1 fight it turned into a 19 vs 7 fight. Things were quickly getting out of hand for Shadow Corps as members were falling or getting wounded. Within five minutes Shadow Corps had lost another eight in their group to the summons. Kevin had ended two lives with “The Slayer”. They had managed to take down 4 of the 6 gangsters only to leave Eddy and Tommy left.

Brad had to act fast as he barked out new orders. Over his party chat. He needed to deal with an annoying Kevin. Brad launched an attack at Maria before he went to deal with Kevin. She wasn’t expecting to get hit by a new device that had been made by Shadow Corps. The device allowed for one to lose mana and Stamina overtime. The device wasn’t perfect. It unfortunately had been damage when Maria blasted it with a bolt of lightning. The device still activated but the effects were less than they should have been.

Brad made his way was fast to Kevin as he tried to hit him hard. He was quickly repelled by an invisible force. He tried to attack again and was once repelled again. Brad wasn’t sure what was blocking his attacks.

Brad silently brought up a skill that would let him see Kevin’s hidden stats. As he looked Kevin over from a distance he was alarmed with all the buffs and he had. Including the sword in his possession. Brad was eager to claim the sword if he could.

Kevin was being protected by an effect called GUARDAIN ANGEL. It lets the user have a Valkyrie protect them from harm. It could even take a fatal blow for the player.

Now that Brad knew he was up against he first had to deal with the Valkyrie. He needed to deliver a fatal blow to cancel out the summon for Brad to act on his next move.

Slowly, but surely Brad was able to finally last a fatal blow on Kevin as he kicked him onto his back. He then did a quick lunge attack at his heart. The Valkyrie and Kevin both swapped places. Brad then was quick to hit Kevin with a hidden needle gun he had pulled out for his next move. Brad hit Kevin with a SSS-rank weapon. “The Nullifier”. It cancelled all weapon and armor abilities for a fight.

Kevin was struck with the debuff. “You have lost all abilities of equipped items.” He was warned with a message. Kevin just groaned at the message as he continued to fight. He was quickly overwhelmed by Brad. He messaged Maria to summon Henry for him.

Maria did what he asked. She was dealing with the remaining goons. She had managed to take out another four, not before she was completely out of mana. She had to run with Eddy and Tommy blocking every hit for her. She would use any of her Mana regeneration when she had the chance to.

Kevin had to rely on Henry to throw some random object in front of him to block an attack from Brad. Brad was slowly taking his time depleting their resources. He had managed to wound Kevin multiple times. None were fatal hits thanks to Maria buffing him earlier. The buffs were slowly ticking away with the fighting. The other surviving members were getting fatigued and wanted it to end. Brad ignored them saying he wanted to enjoy both of their deaths as slowly and painfully as possible.

As time passed more Maria was at the point of wanting to give up. I must endure just a bit longer. She kept pushing herself over the limit to continue. In desperation she summoned Ozzy to hide her so she could sneak away to guzzle down a stamina and mana potion.

“Hey, were did she go?” One of the Shadow Corps members questioned. “I no clue she was right her then just vanished.” Said another while one managed to finish off Eddy. The member hit Eddy in the head with a spell that blasted into him and continued on. It traveled to hit a hidden Ozzy. Revealing Maria who had just finished her potions.

So much for a little break. At least I can cast some magic and have more energy.

Kevin on the other hand was at his limits the buffs finally ended. Brad approached Kevin locking him in a death grip. He had temporarily disposed of Henry. The hyena was still alive but out. Brad pulled out an item that casted a barrier around all three of them. It was covered in a dome shape that was black so no one could see inside.

“I like to see Maria break through this barrier. This was an SSS rank item I was given as a reward for my services. It lets me trap others inside nulling all attacks.” Brad said with a evil laugh looking a Kevin who was panicking.

All Kevin could do there was run around in the barrier trapped like a rat. I gotta get out of here. MARIA help me!!!

Maria was startled by Kevin’s cry for help. She had managed to trap the remaining members in binds. She wanted one of them alive for questionig later ar the end of the fight. She ended up getting a blow to the gut she had to heal for her troubles. Maria once again was low on mana.

She looked over to see a black barrier that had been erricted where Kevin was facing off against Brad. She ran over to the barrier and tried to break it with no avail.

Brad heard pounding on the barrier. He turned to the barrier to see Maria pounding on it with spells of all kinds. He could see on the outside. Since he controlled the barrier. He decided to make the barrier transparent to make Maria watch in horror as he would slowly kill Kevin.

All Maria could do was watch in hopelessness as Kevin was dying from a thousand small cuts. Brad was doing any and every nasty trick to Kevin. He stabbed him with a poisoned dagger. Brad had broken both of his legs near the beginning of the fight. Kevin was crawling away in agony. Kevin was crawling his way to Henry hoping to wake the Hyena up. Brad just laughed with an evil grin.

“Time I ended this.” He said with an evil grin looking at a helpless Maria. He shot a fireball at both Kevin and Henry. Kevin was slowly being consumed by the flames as he screamed in agony. Henry just vanished without a trace.

Kevin turned to Maria while burning. He was able to send her a final message even in his pain. I am sorry this how things had to end…

Kevin’s body went limp as the flames finally consumed him. Brad laughed even harder. He then cancelled the barrier and walked to a frozen Maria who was on her knees. “I’ll make this quick. On second thought I’ll enjoy this while I can.” He laughed even harder as Maria had gotten up to run. He just let her run.

Just then a notification was presented in the room. WACME INC INSTANT DEVILVER HAD BEEN ACTIVATED…

Brad just stared at the message in confusion. Maria had also stopped wondering what that meant. Suddenly, a sonic boon could be heard as the roof of the boss room vanished. Both looked up to see a flaming meteor heading their way. It was breaking apart as i got closer. Brad looked up in shock and horror. Knowing his time was limited he wasn’t going to go alone.

Maria had to dodge attacks from Brad as she was using the binded members as shields. Brad in his desperation ended up killing two of the remaining three.

Brad eventually caught Maria. The moment was short lived when he was pushed away from her by an invisible force. He flew on his back across the room. The meteor ended changing coarse homing in on Brad. All Brad could was watch as it got closer.

The meteor had gotten smaller from burning up. It broke into two as it got even closer. The other part was heading for the member in binds.

The meteor impacted with a loud bang. When the dust settled Maria had gotten a better look at the meteor. To her surprise it wasn't a meteor at all. Around the floor of the boss room were broken pianos, anvils, safes, and other stiff labeled with WACME INC branding.

Maria was lost for words about what just had occurred. She found Brad crushed by a mountain of grand pianos. The last remaining member of Shadow Corps had been crushed under anvils.

Kevin has a lot of explaining to do. Maria thought before getting over the shock. She started to panic as she ran for Kevin. I hope I am not too late…

Maria reached Kevin's chard corpse. She began to cast Resurrection on Kevin. Glad I was able to cast that in time. I thought it had been past the time window.

Kevin's body glowed in radiant light as his bones healed and burn marks faded. He was still covered in cuts. Maria held Kevin as he woke up.

He looked up at her with a weak smile. Maria hurumpt. “What am I ever going to do with you?”

He then looked around at the unleashed carnage. “Well Henry did a good clean up job I suppose.” Kevin said with a weak voice.

“Let's both just get out of here.” Kevin said as Maria picked him up and walked out of the dungeon.
