CHAPTER 10

Kevin’s POV

Kevin had been miserable ever since he had woken up. He had found out he had been enslaved by Shadow Corps. Unfortunately, due to his stats, he wasn’t going to be permitted in any dungeons soon. His unique skill though is why he was kidnapped. He had the ability to alter dungeons. He was shocked into obedience with the enslavement collar to use his skill. He had no idea how to use his skill. They had threatened him. Beat him. They had even tortured him. Shadow Corps soon found out he didn’t really know how to use it at all. Knowing that this was a waste. They decided to use him as fodder on the next dungeon run.

He sat in his cell with his hands cuffed together sobbing as he covered his face. The guards and everyone around weren’t helping him cope. Some enslaved prisoners tried to cheer him up. After the first few times people were caught doing this. He was given a beating along with them. Soon no one tried to comfort him.

Kevin had given up all hope at this point of being saved. His worst fears would come true when he heard the new dungeon spawn alarm. He heard the guards coming into the cell block to collect enslaved players and people to run dungeons. Normally, those who were enslaved were given weapons of any sort. Guns, swords, or whatever anyone was good at using. The collars made sure no one tried to take out guards or they would be instantly electrocuted with 10,000 volts. The worst part was it only stunned a person the guards then would freely and slowly kill off the individual in any manner they liked. Kevin had saw it once and that was enough for him not to fight back.

“DF-1202, time to say goodbye.” a guard said as he approached his cell. The man was wearing a black Shadow Corps uniform followed by two other guards. Kevin backed all the way into his cell. The man smiled coldly with no remorse in his soul. He commanded his two lackies to grab Kevin. One punched poor Kevin in the chest knocking him out. The other dragged him away to his fate…

Kevin woke up with a cold sensation on his face as water hit him. He looked around his environment. There were other guards with other enslaved people as well. He had received a notification telling him he had entered an active dungeon.

The dungeon they currently were in was called the grid dungeon. It had one room. According to the notification. Players had to step on the right grids to leave the dungeon. Some squares could also give dungeon loot. Stepping on the wrong grid tile triggered a trap.

The room everyone was currently in had all tiles lit up except for 3. The grid was covered with blood marks, corpses, and a rainbow of lit tiles.

“You’re up DF-1202.” One of the guards said with a grin. The man kicked Kevin in the back as he fell onto two grid squares. One turned red while the other turned white. He heard a loud noise only to look up in horror. The red square had triggered a trap with sharp spikes to fall from the ceiling. Kevin quickly bolted over to the white square. He hoped this square wasn’t another trap. The white square unfortunately was a very rare trap for the dungeon. His base stats in Dungeon Dweller’s GO! Would remain zero for ever. Kevin’s character screen popped up telling him all his base stats were null and void. This can’t seriously be happening. Kevin was now defenseless. He just sat there sobbing with his hands in his face. He had hit the low of lows for his character. The guards then passed with the other enslaved players. They were told to keep moving. One guard had stopped to pick Kevin up by the collar of his shirt.

“I hear the last tile in this place is the worst of all the traps. It triggers multiple at once. If you survive the traps, it grants an usable item at the end. We will pull you off before you can use it if you survive. Most of the traps are lethal anyways. Want to find out?” The man said I am mean voice.

“Please, don’t.” Kevin begged for mercy as he was crying. The guard just laughed as he tossed him. The tile triggered as Kevin hit it. The tile glowed every color when he landed on it. The guards had everyone to stop and watch. Some people didn’t want to watch what happened to Kevin. Those that did were shocked or beaten until they looked.

A glass box popped up around Kevin encasing him in it. He stood there as he stared at everyone with fear in his eyes. The first of the multiple traps triggered with a purple tile. It was a poison debuff. He fell to his knees as his face turned pale. His HP began to plumet. He then tried to think of Maria in his last moments. Since he knew he was going to die. The girl always had his back no matter what. He just wished he could see her one last time.

The trap then switched colors again as it flashed in a rainbow. This time it stopped on orange. Kevin was given a sickness debuff. This time he began to vomit nonstop as he fell on the ground. The guards all laughed at his pending demise. All Kevin could do was hold his stomach as he lied in a ball puking.

The third trap then triggered with the tile turning a light pink color. The trap triggered a light burn debuff. Kevin began to scream in agony as he touched the sensitive skin on his body. He looked at his body to see it was covered in first and second degree burns all over. The pain was unbearable as he pleaded for someone to save him. This only made the guards laugh even harder. A few had fallen over from laughing so hard.

The fourth trap had Kevin begging for someone to end him as it triggered. The tile turned a smokey grey color. This time it triggered a phycological trap. Kevin was seeing the trauma of his parents dying in the explosion. His reaction just made the guards laugh at his outbursts even more.

The final and last trapped triggered. The color was a crimson red. Kevin’s HP finally dropped to 1. The glass box began to dissolve around him as he lay there. A guard slowly made his way over to finish him off. Kevin closed his eyes knowing the end was finally near. He just wished he could have done something to save himself. He thought of what it would be like if the dungeon were different. If only I could use my skill to save myself he sighed as he heard the guard walking closer and closer.

Kevin opened his eyes to find that the dungeon was frozen in time. The guard about to deliver a killing blow to his neck when he got the message. Kevin just gulped looking at his burns. He thought of how cartoon characters could take this kind of punishment and live.

Kevin backed away from the man unsure if he would unfreeze. He then noticed on his character screen he was given a prompt. Would you like to change the dungeon to your liking.

With a smirk Kevin thought of a cartoony dungeon where the Shadow Corps were the bad guys. His thoughts were processed without him even touching yes…
