The following day was spent in the grand hall where a massive arena was in the center more like a gladiatorial location than a eating place, but for Aadi they weren't to difficult and where easily predictable in the way they fought.
He could feel the stares of people as he sat beside Wyatt eating and drinking on a fur lined chair and a silver cup.
When night fell he and Wyatt entered the bed chambers and slept not even pretending anything had occurred, making it seem like Aadi was tired from the spars as so too prevent to many harmed egos. Come the morning after Aadi stayed in their room and meditated, he had been constantly busy since his advancement and so was falling behind in his cultivation.
Although much harder and stricter it is for him to cultivate due to his unique constitution he also has far greater potential then others as well, he intends to focus on this while Wyatt deals with the rest.
The first month at the tribe is spent eating, sparring, and meditating with little variety in the types of food due to the climate here their is little to truly appreciate.
Finally the first deployment to the stellar empire leaves for the northern kingdom they will send back lots of variety of foods and furs making it so many look forward to the events to come, only a few select councilors and chiefs know that the food will be cut off soon even if they get it now once the greedy nobles feel safe they will embezzle the food destroying our agreement.
Aadi feels like everything is moving both to slowly and quickly as he has made little progress on his cultivation but already the plan is set in motion, soon he will return to the south as the wife of a allied leader instead of the servant of the princess.
Like this his easy life comes quickly and with little trouble of a odd spar every now and then, I am undefeated by anyone but Wyatt and many feel this is only proper for the wife of the head chief to be so powerful. The only thing they are upset about is the lack of sleeping together but they say that is because the leader is too busy and is constantly in different tribes and regions as to perform his duties properly, some even say they admire me for not complaining on the lack of proper action from my spouse.
By the end of the second month the rations and furs are sent in with abundance leaving many ooing and awing at the varieties and colors as some fruits were also sent though not nearly as much grain or vegetables.
Most fruit was dried out and the wheat was all still seeds instead of having been milled and grounded up as one would normally expect.
I knew this and when a council meeting comes this afternoon I go to it too inform this of the short coming and warn them of such trouble, entering the same feast hall my arrival banquet was held I see Wyatt sat on a semi throne at the center of the seating area with many surrounding him.
I step forward to talk, "I have come to inform you of those from my home empire potentially short coming you as although my home empire I know for a fact the child I have helped raise would not betray his word like this and that most likely those who where suppose to give it too you took some for themselves in a fit of greed."
I can see the looks of confusion, assessment, and doubt as if I am lying it would mean I wish to break the agreement which would free me from my duties as the spouse of the Northern head chief.
I wait for anyone to question me and do so they did, "How exactly should the food have been given if not how we see it? I expect a reasonable answer."
"The wheat shells they sent you are meant to be de shelled and crushed into a fine powder for usage and that powder is what we call wheat and what should have been sent as the reward by sending it like this they take half the amount you should receive without anyone the wiser."
Silence then anger as arguments break out debating if my statement is true or not but is silenced by Wyatt's response.
"Prove it by showing us all the steps from this point to the point of fixing the food."
And so it was I showed the de shelling and grounding process then showed them two of the so called filled bags side by side, one only half full the other filled to the brim like the current on once was.
I am dismissed after I bake a small loaf of bread for them to eat and am told to return to my chambers for the time to prevent any potential manipulations for self benefit.
I can hear the shouts tomorrow morning in the dining room as they discuss the events before returning to my quarters as instructed without speaking with anyone, I return to meditating and two days later am asked to talk with the council once more.
I enter the hall and wait for the questions to come.
"Are you willing to vouch for the southern heirs and risk your own freedom on them having upheld their end of the bargain?"
"Yes, as they are my magic bound godsons."
Silence follows as they realize the weight of my words as it essentially claimed that by marrying me they made an even stronger alliance then if they had married one of the boys many sisters.
I am given permission to roam once more and am told that Wyatt will be gone for talks on the breaking of the agreement so soon after it is implemented, I know I will be seen as a traitor to the stellar empire for telling the Northern tribes this but am sure my godsons will get the message I am sending and that is 'I am on the side of the Northern tribes keep your word.'
The following month is spent without Wyatt around and exactly like the first it is a simple time with no espionage or need to be constantly on guard, the calmest I have had since entering the tower.
Finally Wyatt returns with a carriage full of wheat bags and a letter from the twins wishing me well and saying they are pleased with the second godfather this marriage has brought them as they find the man highly capable and intelligent.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Smiling I felt nothing but joy at the fact the boys got my message so clearly and easily resolved the problem before true trouble came for them.
The next two months have the proper amount of food being sent and little problems occur as both sides are beginning to thrive with the stellar empire getting rid of the monsters and the Northern tribes getting plenty of food and furs along with random exotic goods sometimes sent with the food most likely by the twins and are intended for me but I have little care for such things.
By the sixth month all but a few stray monsters have been cleared out of the stellar kingdom and the food supply of some places have begun to restart though shaky due to the lacking knowledge and talent from those that once did it.
South still held a strangle hold on food pretty much and dominated with their military as it had tripled in size due to war time laws allowing it, add on he claimed with enemies still in border he could keep them up and no one could stop them not even the emperor with an iron fist my dearest twins have completely taken over the south by the age of eleven.
Truly my pride had never been better.
Waking on yet another morning the sound of shouting is clear causing me to get up and step out to see what is happening, Wyatt and a group of three others are arguing near our bedroom and when I walked out of the room all of them turned to look at me. One of the men shoved past Wyatt and came in front of me clearly angry and in a mood to fight.
"Why the hell have your people sent nothing this month for our work, the agreement is clear yet here we are without the food promised. You better have a damn reason."
I look to Wyatt and see him stay silent so it must mean it is my turn to play the good godfather and sort out this problem, "I do not know about the other regions but my godsons would never go back on an agreement I will even be willing to put my life on the fact."
I see confusion on the mans face at this statement, "We aren't talking about your godsons we are talking about the kingdoms."
"My godsons are the heirs of the southern kingdom and the ones you spoke to during the negotiations it is why my marriage to the chieftain was also seen as a tie to the south, now if needed I will be willing to personally speak to them and clear all this up or you can let them buy more food for you themselves."
I can see the shock on the faces of everyone but Wyatt as they realize my connections are far greater then they expected, looking between each other they decide to step back for now and speak amongst themselves for what they will do now.
I return to the room and wait for them to come, and come they did as only an hour later the decision is made to send me along with them to talk with the kingdoms on what has just occurred.
I am packed and ready to leave by the end of the hour even if we won't leave until tomorrow we have been waiting on this for a while and I can't help but feel giddy over the events finally unfolding as we expected.
Tomorrow I am on a wolf once more heading in the direction of the fort I stayed in 6 months prior, the travel was easy and no attacks same.
We arrived two days ahead of schedule and so we settle in easily and rest for the next two days when the four kingdoms send a representative each along with the one sent by the emperor, I see the oldest boy along with the body guard I personally trained over the past few years to help him after I left.
The next day is spent inside the meeting room and everything goes down hill from there, entering the room next to Wyatt gets us looks and a few even sneer at me showing no respect one would for the wife of an allied nation.
I ignore the actions of them and sit next to Wyatt while sending Chimon a look as I remain in perfect etiquette making it so no one can complain on my participation in this meeting.
Once all are seated Wyatt speaks, "We have not been given our monthly food not even a single piece of wheat, I need an answer on why this is and failure to give a proper reason will see problems come about." Wyatt's face is cold and harsh without a sign of weakness even the energy he is giving off is suppressing them, I can see them get uncomfortable from the atmosphere in the room.
I can see Chimon not show any sign of the energy affecting him, he also responds easily "We sent our food to the Northern kingdom to be given to you, if there is any trouble we are more then willing to let you check all our papers and things yourselves we have kept our side of the agreement."
The other kingdom representatives look like they have been kicked in the gut from this statement, they probably expected the boy to help them cover up due to being from the same empire to bad the boy is very well versed on when you should and shouldn't help others.
I feel a small lift of my lips at this, the representative of the emperor finally responds "We where under the impression the food had been sent to you as all the papers handed in to us showed it had, we even helped to inspect the wagons sent your way if anything we think you are expecting more then you should and have come to start trouble. You complained at the start as well didn't you on us not sending the right amount, clearly you are simply trying to find fault."
I can see a small uplift to Wyatt's lip as the emperors man just admitted to being involved with the kingdoms food transport so when brought before the other empires it will be undeniable proof the very emperor himself agreed to breaking an aide agreement.
The northern kingdom representative finally speaks up, "We sent all the food we have received to your people truly attempting to threaten us to give more then agreed to is a sign of aggression, are you attempting to go against our non-aggression agreement by claiming we broke the agreement first. If so we will take it to the imperial alliance court, lets see who they believe those known for violence or us who have only ever really been in conflict with you."
Truly if this was a normal agreement then that would be true but when Wyatt made the agreement he put energy in it and if either side broke the agreement then when the opposing asked for it to be judged by the energy it will be clear who broke it as that person would lose half of their cultivation as the price.
Everyone in the towers knew of it but this place didn't so when this fact came up it will ruin any chance to argue against our words, add on the fact we will offer to teach them how to make one and they will most definitely take our sides after all guaranteed safety is worth far more then gold.
All but the south said we are lying while Chimon only said he had sent it to the Northern people as was said in the trade agreement so if it failed to reach us they have no idea.
We leave the talks on the border of war.
Returning to the tribes a letter on the breaking of an agreement with the stellar empire is sent to the alliance and all that is left is the trial before the war will begin, I look at the weapons being prepared and the food being stored. Children are eager and the people look to be eager to once more see blood after such a long time of peace with the stellar nation due to both the sudden arrival of monsters and the agreement, now war is set to come and the people were prepared for blood to be spilled.
The next month the meeting comes and word arrives back, we had won the case and no other nation ma interfere in the fight between us as this will be seen as gaining reparations for the broken agreement.
I remain in the tribe while all but women and children below 15 remain behind the rest march, I know it would be usually expected for me to fight but against my home it will be excused if I sit back. I feel mixed as although I know sitting back is the best it has been far to long since I could truly swing my spear.
I finally can't take it anymore when an agreement with the southern kingdom is announced as they did keep their side of the agreement so no attacks will be done to them, I am on my way to the front line by the end of the day it is announced.
I can see the approval in the eyes of those as I leave, clearly my act of siding with them now that my twins are out of danger is something they can appreciate.
I arrive in a town filled with soldiers and no civilians in sight along with the other men when a loud dong goes off from the tower and suddenly the clock tower crumbles down, shouting and screams of different people can be heard.
The battle begins with the strike of mid day and the crumbling of the little restraint still holding both sides back.
