Update

Hi All,

It's been months since an update so I wanted to provide you all with some info. I have been working through what I actually want to write. That may seem trivial, but the reality is that I only have so much time in this world and a lot of it is spent making a living (which my writing is not able to achieve for me currently). Thus, if I'm spending time on writing I want it to be writing a story I actually enjoy, rather than just a story I think is commercially viable. It's something that matters a lot to me and impacts my ability to be productive as an author.

That being said, I don't love LitRPG. I enjoy elements of LitRPG, the progression, the potential for variety even if many authors don't take advantage of it, but ultimately I don't like the limiting elements. The "system" as the only expression or means of magic feels incredibly limiting. I admire authors that can work within those constraints, and there are many LitRPG novels I enjoy as a reader, but as a writer it's not what I like. I enjoy a more flexible and varietal magic system.

However, I don't want to abandon all of my characters or concepts that I've worked on. Some I may, but others I don't want to. Thus, I've decided to begin a fundamental reworking of what I've written previously. The "Book of Janus" which was the LitRPG basis for Dungeon Ecologist will be no more. I'm going to fundamentally reimagine the world and systems involved to be more in line with what I want to write.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

What does that mean for you as readers: the novels I previously wrote will not exist in their previous form. I may use character backstories or plotlines that I had envisioned for these characters. However, they will not fully resemble the characters, worlds, systems or plots that you are familiar with.

I have 3 characters in particular that I had planned as later novels in the "Book of Janus" series that Dungeon Ecologist was a part of, but now they will be earlier novels. I have begun redoing the worldbuidling from scratch, though my character concepts remain the same in most ways. I'll leave it up to chance to decide which I first publish, as I want to write from all of their perspectives before I decide which makes more sense as the main character.

For any of the 10 fans of "Into An Aybss", it will be incorporated into the series I'm envisioning that will also incorporate the "Book of Janus" characters like Basil Thorne. Basil would be a much later character and plotline rather than a starting character and plotline.

As for fans of "Evil Star" also known as "Grave of Heroes", that will be a separate series I release in the future.

Lastly, for fans of "See No Evil" (all 6 of you), it will also be a separate series. I likely will release a parallel novel to it which was previously only discussed and available on Patreon called "The Porcelain Goddess". That is my only plan for modern/urban fantasy novels at this time.

Thanks for following my novels through all of the hiatuses and changes I go through. I feel like I finally have a sense of what I as a (finally) stable adult want to write, and I hope that will in time translate to stable releases. My 20s were turbulent, but I hope my 30s will be prolific.

Best,

Andrew Reise
