Chapter 06
The next day, Elaine and I are going to the Adventurers Guild. Inside the building are multiple big Notice boards and a few queues to 5 counters. We go to the shortest one and have to wait in line for a few minutes. At the counter, we are greeted by a short, stout looking man.
“Ay, what can I do for you lassies ?”
“We would like to register as adventurers”
“Ay, can do that lass. Just put ya hand on that big marble here…”
I put my hand on the back sphere and a very watered down status Window of me appears. No actual Numbers except for my level and age and also only my [Holy Squire] Class. It mostly shows [S] and [A] instead of my Status numbers.
“all looks good lassie, must hav’ had an amazing [Child Class], now that pretty lass next to you, if she wishes to also register.”
…
“Alright lassies, here are your identification plates. Both are iron for now but that’s where everyone starts with a tier 1 Class. At level 30 ya can take a test to be promoted to Steel or wait till ya hav’ a Tier 2 Class to go directly for Bronze. After Bronze, it goes to Silver, Gold, Mithril and Adamant at last. One for da next Tier and one for da halfway point. Some instead go with Letters instead of metals for ya ranks, then it’s S-rank for Adamant A for Mithril, B for Gold, C for Silver, D for Bronze, E for Steel and F-rank for ya Iron. Quests can be found on the boards behind you, arranged by rank. Ya can take a Quest of your rank below it or if ya wanna risk dying, up tah one rank above ya. Now here’s a pamphlet with a view more rules and guild lines. If ya don’t have have any more questions lass, then make place for those in line behind ya.”
I open the pamphlet. Half of it is basically a reminder to not be a dick as an adventurer and the rest is info on nearby monsters and the peculiarities of the dungeon.
The two floors are basically a forest with different variants of wolves, boars, deer and other forest animals and monsters. Floor 2-5 is an intrinsically connected cave system with spiders goblins and other creatures that lurk in the darkness. At Floor 6, it turns into a labyrinth, without monsters having to be of a certain theme.
It is also, highly recommended, to go on a floor if it’s number times ten is higher than your level.
Elaine is already Level 15 and I have basically double the Stats I should have, thanks to me having two classes.
We still decide to look for a quest on the first floor and stay on it for today.

The Iron Rank Quest board is not exactly full, but still has some suitable options for us. In the end we decide to take those three Quests.

Now registered as Adventurers and with our first Quests, we follow the map on the Guild pamphlet to the dungeon.
The dungeon entrance lays a little ways outside of town and we see some of the berries, the town is named after.
The Dungeon entrance looks like a fortified Cafe, but after stepping inside it looks like it leads to a Forrest outside, instead of deeper into a dungeon.
We take a view minutes to take it all in.
While looking around, I noticed some some Rabbits in the distance being hunted by some black wolf. I try to identify them.
[Horned Rabbit Level 6.]
[Horned Rabbit Level 4.]
[Horned Rabbit Level 7.]
[Dark Wolf Level 19.]
…
“Elaine, the wolf over there is hunting some Horned rabbits and didn’t seem to have noticed us. It is level 19. Should we try to fight it ?”
”It looks to be alone and not with a pack so I am all for it.”
”We should start with ranged attacks to surprise it, since I don’t believe we could sneak up in it. You can throw one of your knifes and I try my [lesser Judgment Bolt], if the wolf is aligned with the dark elements or got some evil titles. that could potentially one shot it.”
”Alright if it survives the ranged attacks, stay back and I’ll try to skewer it with my spear”
”If it survives, I’ll be the shield und you the spear. No doing it alone. Now count down on 3 and we attack”
”three”
”two”
”one”
”go”
I activate my [lesser Judgment Bolt] skill while Elaine throws her knife.
Both attacks strike true, but the Wolf is still standing. Now looking hurt but thoroughly pissed off. After spotting me, it charges in my direction and I manage to fire off one more judgment bolt, before I raise my shield and brace myself for impact. Right when I’m thrown back, I can see Elaine thrust her spear and hear on last whine of the wolf before I get a System notification.
