A Skirmish Interrupted

[EVA: Alert! Multiple projectiles inbound! Recommend evasive maneuvers Captain.]

"Ho. All those 'Surface to Space' weapons just for me? I feel honored. Execute maneuver 'Delta Sigma '"

Not wasting a second, I gave the order to my crew to evade the incoming projectiles.

[EVA: All projectiles missed. What is your next move Captain?]

A very cruel idea suddenly came to me and I grinned evilly.

"Let’s send something of the same magnitude back in kind. Fire all 'Archer' missiles and 'MAC' guns at their 'Surface to Space' platforms"

[EVA: Affirmative. Spinning up 'MAC' guns. 'Archer Missiles' away Captain. ETA to impact. 20 seconds.]

[EVA: Impact. Enemy ‘Surface to Space’ weapons destroyed. WARNING! Ships system is being hacked! NYTO TOOK DOWN THE SHIELD AND ENGINE! MISSILE LAUNCH DETECTED INBOUND FROM ANTARCTICA! IMPACT IMMINENT!]

I began sweating as I realized I took the bait and now my ship is defenseless with a ship killer missile fast approaching. I open up a ship wide broadcast and did the only thing logical that a captain would do.

“Attention all ship personnel. Proceed to Sub-Vessel Bays for emergency ship scuttle. Missiles imminent. PREPARE FOR IMPACT!”

It was sudden but I could feel the impact from the ‘Command Deck’. The lights throughout the ship dimmed to red indicating the core power is knocked out.

“EVA, Damage report!”

[EVA: The missile hit the lower ‘Sublight Engine’. The electrical shockwave overloaded the fusion core in the ‘Engine Room’ Repairs are needed.]

After hearing the report I let out a sigh of relief. The damage to the ship isn’t critical as long as the fusion core gets repaired, the ship will be combat ready again.

[EVA: Alert! Detecting unknown anomaly.]

“What? Hey…. What the hell is this weird circle formation under me?"

It suddenly dawned to me that I’ve seen this before from books I’ve been reading during my free time.

“OH, YOU GOT TO ME KIDDING ME!” Was I all could manage to get out of my system before a bright white light completely blinded my vision.

The ship became silent as the entire ship crews was dumbfounded when their captain disappeared before their very eyes. Eva decided it was best at the sudden absence of the Captain to assume command.

After EVA broadcasted the current state of the ship to the entire crew, she opened a direct communication link to the ‘Captains Quarter’

[EVA: Captain, your presence is required on the ‘Command Deck’. I hope you didn’t press that ‘Recall’ button as a prank.]

After some time EVA became worried as her Captain did not reply back to her. She decided to activate his biodata tracker.

[EVA: Locating Captains bio-data… ERROR! Unable to pinpoint location.]

It soon became apparent to her that her Captains disappearance had to do with the white light that enveloped around him. EVA did another scan as a precaution in case one of her programming was malfunctioning.

[EVA: …. Unable to detect Captain’s presence within the ship.]

[EVA: Attention all personnel! Captain is MIA. I repeat, Captain is MIA!]

[EVA: Attention all military personnel! In the absence of the Captain, I am executing my authority to place the entire ships status to ‘Code Red’.]

After she publicly announced that the ship is under ‘Code Red’, the same white light enveloped around the ship and all the crew members within it.
