Chapter 3 - First Lord's Masion

So i think that is it for today as i wanna  think a bit more about what follows when he wakes up... HOpe you have fun reading and feel free to leave some of you comments behind :D

----------------------------------------

The guard’s captain conducted Felix back to the square and went into a side alley next to the cathedral, half a kilometre in and they had arrived at another large road, but instead of choosing right or left the guard traversed it and stopped in front of a rusty gate.

Looking beyond the gate, Felix sees an abandoned garden filled with sculptures illustrating a wide diversity of creatures, most of them with hellish qualities, tentacles, horns, distorted expressions, were just the easiest themes presented.

Through the middle of the garden there was a small rocky path, leading directly to the front door of the mansion, a massive thing that by Felix’s evaluation would double him in high, and sure as hell looked heavy making him wonder how someone would ever be able to open that thing. The walls of the mansion were dark grey, at least in those spots not covered by vines, and it appeared to go up to the 3rd floor on the main structure, and probably a 5th floor on those towers to the west side. Three towers in total all connected to the top floor of the mansion by ruined bridges.

-Ok, kid go get yar feather.

“You got to be joking, was the Lord of this city some kind of devil?”

Slowly, Felix opens the gate and steps inside the path. He waits a minute waiting for something to happen but sights as nothing does, jumps then as Wave shrieks in his ear and flies to land on one of the sculptures, a huge representation of a revoh.

-That the mother revoh. Keep walking kid I got not all day ta be waiting here for ya, sun already down. – The guard hurries him.

“Well better be done with it.”

Hurry in his steps, Felix soon is in front of the main door. He pushes it, not really believing it would open. It didn’t. Not knowing what to do now, he looks around.

      “Maybe an open window?”

But then his eyes fall on a rectangular hole in the wall a few centimetres from the door, there seems to be a rope in it. Felix grabs it and pushes, a bell sounds and the door opens itself like magic.

Felix releases a loud “gulp”. And gathering his courage he steps inside what would certainly be one of the creepiest places he had gone in is life.

And there it was, another red transparent window in front of him.

“Well at least I know I am in the right place.”

Felix pushes the window aside and starts searching his surroundings. There were feathers everywhere.

Unfortunately none of them black, at least not in the entrance hall. Not knowing a specific place to search he tries the first door to the right, he is in a big room with a long table, twelve chairs surround it and on top there are silver candelabra with half spent candles, there are big windows to the outside, covered with old dusty ratted curtains. And on the wall opposed to the windows there’s a double door. Opening it Felix sees what had been a kitchen in the past, with rusty tools covering the ground. Not seeing anything of interest there he moves back to the hall, this time he went for a door under the central stairs to another floor, there he found himself in a high ceiling room, shelves covering the walls, and most of them empty except for a tome here and there. It clearly was a library.

Curious Felix picks a tome and opens it, somehow the pages were still readable, if barely. They were dry to the touch forcing him to be careful turning them around. He was disappointed when he didn’t understand the language, still was quite interested in the symbols represented there, somehow they felt familiar.

     -SRIIIIIEEKK!!!

Surprised by the noise Felix jumps, just to look to his shoulder looking for Wave, but it wasn’t there. Nor in the room.      Could the bird have followed him inside?

Closing the tome and putting it in his bag, hoping of later finding a way to decipher it to learn why those symbols looked so familiar, Felix leaves the library.

      -SRIIIIIEEKK!!!

      “Where is she?”

      -SRIIIIIEEKK!!!

“Sounds like it is coming from up top.”

Moving up stairs Felix keeps following the noise, soon he is in front of a door, the shrieks coming from the other side, and making him tremble, there was no way that that was Wave, too high a sound to be coming from so small a body.

Slowly, avoiding any noise Felix, turns the knob and slightly opens the door, just enough he could take a look.

      -Crack…

He stops, the door just made a noise.

      “Was there anything blocking?”

And then from the crack he opened to look inside comes an image that paralyzes his body and makes him pale. An eyes, a feral looking eye, with red accentuated veins, orange iris, and constricted pupil.

      -SHRRRIIIEEEKK!!!

The thing in the other side moves, Felix closes the door on instincts alone and prepares to run, just to have a force send him into the opposing wall. The creature just destroyed the door and thrown him with the force of the impact.

With a hand supporting his ringing head Felix tries to make out his bearings, when he sees a pair of horns coming directly at him in slow motion, thinking fast he stops trying to raise up his body and instead rolls to the side. Failing to hit him the boar sized revoh, hits the wall, its horns penetrating it like a knife in hot butter. The infuriated bird steps backs, and once more turns on him, charging again, Felix rolls inside them room, hoping to find something with which to stop the beast’s advance on him, or at least something he can use as a temporary weapon. No luck with the first, the only thing he could see that would block the door was the king sized bed, which he doubted he could drag to the doorway before the revoh stepped in, but luck had him in an old fireplace and a poker that he gladly used as soon as the creature charged him once more, by rolling to the side and attacking hit from the back, in hit and evasive roll fashion, which he repeatedly adhered till the beast fell on the ground dead, followed by Felix himself whose tired knees couldn’t hold up for any longer.

Breathing roughly, and gathering his strength Felix drags himself to the bed, he had seen it there, the black feather.

With a few centimetres missing, he feels something or someone picking him up and turning him around. For a second he through of the guard outside, but then it happened.

A face he hoped, but so far knew he wouldn’t ever see again was there, right in front of him.

      -Sophy…

He smiles at his sister, even though pain runs through his chest as his body is discarded on top of the bed.

His sister smiling in front of him while munching on a bloody heart. His bloody heart. That was the last image Felix saw, as his vision started to fade and his hand clenched around something soft.

You have acquired the black feather of the mother revoh!

You have died!
