As the sun’s last rays bathed the city in orange light, Felix felt tired of walking and sat in front of a random doorway.
For all the afternoon he had walked into a labyrinth of blocked alleys, dirty side streets, inhabited by ferocious rats the size of a common dog with a tendency to pursue and bite him, deserted streets with closed up shops and even dark streets with suspicious characters, that he could swear would die to use him in some mad experiment. Finally as the sun gave signs of setting Felix had walked into a wide avenue and with renewed hope he accelerated his walking, for any wide avenue would eventually end up somewhere important. Unfortunately for Felix the doorway where he was now resting was one he had passed through twice already.
-Grhhrg…
“AH! If only this bird helped a bit. How can it sleep through the day after everything I went through?”
And then like hearing his thoughts Wave jumped in the air and flew away.
“Great now it leaves me, couldn’t have done it sooner?”
-Grhhrg…
“Ah, where can I get some food, thinking about it I didn’t eat since I got inside that dam machine in my room. Wish I knew how to go back home, maybe…”
-Exit…exit game… quit…game… log out…
“Nothing… maybe I am wrong… with those strange windows all day long it really seemed like I was in some kind of rpg… shouldn’t this be a clue to find my sister? ”
-Shriek.
“Oh, great, the hellish bird is back.”
-Tuck.
-OW! What a…
Wave dropped a package on top of Felix’s head.
-Shriek.
She cried landing on his shoulder once again.
-What’s this?
Felix asked Wave already using his fingers to tear at the paper rapping it up.
-Smell’s good…
-Shriek.
-Is this pork?
-Shriek.
-Oh, you did well.
-Shriek.
“Suddenly I feel like this fellow usefulness level just increased by a lot.”
-Ok, let’s taste it.
-Shriek…shriek.
-What you want a piece too? Well I guess you deserved it.
Tearing the sandwich he had found inside the package in half Felix extended one of the pieces to wave, which graved it and flew to the roof of the building behind them and started eating. Seeing this Felix started to bring his piece to his mouth when he heard someone coming in his direction screaming.
“Could it be? Nop, it has nothing to do with me.”
Felix judged right has he bited down on the well served sandwich.
-Thief!
“Wonder who would dare to steal something from that metal covered dude, checkout that huge sword at his back!”
Felix thought half interested, while wolfing down the sandwich.
-Give me back ma dinner!
“Dinner, damn that felt good. Wonder where the bird got it from? Nah, not bird, it’s an angel, with a proper name… Yes let’s call it Wave from now on!”
-Did you just eat it? You dared?! I will retrieve it even if I have ta cut you open!
“Hmm thinking about it, it was well wrapped up…Perhaps… Should I run? Yup, I Guess I should.”

Jumping on his feet, Felix started to run in the opposite direction.
-Oh, no you don’t!
Reaching behind his back the armoured man takes a net and throws it in Felix’s direction, Felix jumps to the side, and starts running again only to fall on his face, his feet entangled in rope.
-You dared to steal from one of the captains of this city’s guard?
Says the man holding his huge sword above his head.
-Sir, wait… It wasn’t me!
-So I didn’t see you eating ma dinner back there?
The man answers Felix’s plea raising an eyebrow.
-That was a misunderstanding, sir.
Looking into Felix’s eyes the man hesitates about what to do.
-Explain.
He says lowering his sword a tiny bit, encouraging Felix to talk.
-I was hungry and then the bird went and brought a package… The smell was so good I didn’t think about it…
The captain’s eye started twitching, his grip on the sword hardened and he raised it again. Felix started seeing flashes of his young life passing by like images on an old films recording tape.
-So that’s your excuse? A bird brought you a wrapped up lunch? Boy, I hope eternity in hell teaches you better excuses!
As the captain lowers his sword Felix raises his arms for defence, and instinctively closes his eyes hoping death would be fast, but apparently it left him hanging. After moments waiting for it the boy opens his eyes again and sees the tip of the sword is touching his chins, and its owner seems to be distracted looking at something in top of his head.
-Boy, that the bird, you talking bout?
-Y…yes…s…
-Boy, your clothes. Ya a dreamer?
-What’s a dreamer?
The guards face started showing an expression of disbelief.
-Ya don’t know what a dreamer is? But ya are a dreamer…where is your guide boy?
-What guide?
“This is getting weird.”
-Didn’t you meet someone in the square, the place where dreamers appear?
Seeing Felix scratching the back of his head, the captain asks in another way.
-Did ya talk to someone there?
-Just an old woman, near the fountain.
-What the woman told ya?
-Just an old story… about the First Lord.
-Nothing more?
-She asked me to retrieve a feather, from his mansion…
-Grrr…Get up boy!
Says the captain, before cutting the rope entangled around Felix’s feet and sheathing his sword over his shoulders.
-Hurry!
Not wanting to infuriate the man even more Felix jumps to his feet.
-Now follow me.
The man orders turning his back.
“Should I, maybe I could run away. He might just lead me to a dark alley and murder me there, less public. Although there’s no one around the blood would be evidence, no?”
Still Felix’s feet pushed him to follow the captain.
Together they walked till darkness came and street lights brightened the street with an eerie green light. Seeing no end to the walk and the calm air around the captain, Felix decided to risk a question.
-So, where are we going?
-First Lord’s mansion, then I’ma gonna deliver ya to your guide.
